I am a qualified Nurse with over 10 years of nursing experience and have been part of the Tregwilym Lodge team since October 2021. I provide strong, visible leadership to ensure care and support are safe, effective, and delivered in line with CIW regulations and the national standards for care and support in Wales.
Care at Tregwilym Lodge is person-centred and focused on supporting residents to maintain choice, independence, and control over their day-to-day lives wherever possible. Care planning reflects individual preferences, life history, cultural needs, and personal wishes. Where residents lack capacity, decisions are made in their best interests in line with the Mental Capacity Act, with families and relevant professionals fully involved.
Safeguarding is a fundamental priority. Robust systems are in place to protect residents from abuse or neglect, with staff trained to recognise, report, and respond to concerns promptly. Risk assessments are comprehensive and regularly reviewed to ensure residents are protected while still being supported to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Residents receive safe, high-quality nursing and personal care that promotes physical health, emotional well-being, and comfort. Clinical needs are closely monitored, care plans are reviewed regularly, and we work collaboratively with GPs, district nurses, mental health services, and other professionals to ensure holistic and responsive care.
Independence and dignity are actively promoted, with residents supported to make choices about meals, routines, activities, and social engagement. Care is flexible and responsive, adapting to changing needs while preserving respect, identity, and individuality.
We encourage meaningful activity and social inclusion, supporting residents to remain connected to family, friends, and the wider community. Activities are tailored to individual interests and abilities, promoting emotional well-being, stimulation, and a sense of purpose.
Tregwilym Lodge provides a safe, comfortable, and homely environment that meets residents’ assessed needs. The environment is regularly reviewed to ensure it supports mobility, orientation, comfort, and safety, particularly for those living with dementia or complex health needs.
I am supported by a highly skilled and dedicated management and care team who are committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care. Robust governance arrangements are in place, including regular audits, staff training, supervision, and quality assurance processes, to drive continuous improvement. Feedback from residents, families, and professionals is actively welcomed and used to inform service development and improve outcomes.
