All very welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble when asking for anything. Always clean. Wonderful activities but he does not always join in. I have nothing to complain about.

Overall Experience

Tregwilym Lodge rediscovered my uncle’s smile. During a time when his mind and body started to fail him, the staff in the Home found things he could do that made him happy. This included trips out like the cinema and bingo, to activities in the Home like making bird food cakes and playing games with the carers. Care was taken to ensure that activities were accessible and he felt like part of the family in the Home. Whenever there was a change in his health and support needs they contacted the family straight away. I would highly recommend Tregwilym Lodge to anyone looking for somewhere to care for their loved one. When your loved one’s care needs are too much to be handled at home you want them to end up somewhere like Tregwilym Lodge. They treat residents as individuals cater to their needs with love and care, and create the home environment away from home.

Overall Experience

Unfortunately, the rumours of terrible care, unsympathetic staff and just an overall bad experience were all true. If you care for your loved ones and still want them to live as full of a life as possible, do not bring them here. The higher management was extremely rude and unsympathetic and it bordered on bullying. They were stopping my Nan enjoying her life. She was brought food which was just left on the side in her room, knowing full well that Nan cannot feed herself. Nan was left to sit in her hot room when staff left faeces all in her toilet and they failed to clean Nan up afterwards. The smell was quite unbearable, so I dread to think how long the staff left her like that. We were complaining about the lack of activities, and when the clinical manager went through the activities report, she reported Nan engaging with the activity staff. Nan was not even in the home at the time of the activity.

We are very disappointed to read this review, which is neither accurate nor reflective of the circumstances or services we have provided. Whilst the staff and management attempted to work with the family over the placement, this proved to be not possible and the Care Home had to refer the whole...

I just wanted to thank all the staff who put on the cream tea yesterday for Mother's Day. Myself and my daughter had a lovely time, spending quality time with Mum who looked happy that we were there with her. Please pass on our thanks to the manager and staff. Thank you once again.

Toni Reid-Chesworth
Toni Reid-ChesworthJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 2021

I am a qualified Nurse with over 10 years of nursing experience and have been part of the Tregwilym Lodge team since October 2021. I provide strong, visible leadership to ensure care and support are safe, effective, and delivered in line with CIW regulations and the national standards for care and support in Wales.

Care at Tregwilym Lodge is person-centred and focused on supporting residents to maintain choice, independence, and control over their day-to-day lives wherever possible. Care planning reflects individual preferences, life history, cultural needs, and personal wishes. Where residents lack capacity, decisions are made in their best interests in line with the Mental Capacity Act, with families and relevant professionals fully involved.

Safeguarding is a fundamental priority. Robust systems are in place to protect residents from abuse or neglect, with staff trained to recognise, report, and respond to concerns promptly. Risk assessments are comprehensive and regularly reviewed to ensure residents are protected while still being supported to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Residents receive safe, high-quality nursing and personal care that promotes physical health, emotional well-being, and comfort. Clinical needs are closely monitored, care plans are reviewed regularly, and we work collaboratively with GPs, district nurses, mental health services, and other professionals to ensure holistic and responsive care.

Independence and dignity are actively promoted, with residents supported to make choices about meals, routines, activities, and social engagement. Care is flexible and responsive, adapting to changing needs while preserving respect, identity, and individuality.

We encourage meaningful activity and social inclusion, supporting residents to remain connected to family, friends, and the wider community. Activities are tailored to individual interests and abilities, promoting emotional well-being, stimulation, and a sense of purpose.

Tregwilym Lodge provides a safe, comfortable, and homely environment that meets residents’ assessed needs. The environment is regularly reviewed to ensure it supports mobility, orientation, comfort, and safety, particularly for those living with dementia or complex health needs.

I am supported by a highly skilled and dedicated management and care team who are committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care. Robust governance arrangements are in place, including regular audits, staff training, supervision, and quality assurance processes, to drive continuous improvement. Feedback from residents, families, and professionals is actively welcomed and used to inform service development and improve outcomes.

Please visit our website to learn more about the wider management team and the experience they bring to Tregwilym Lodge. If you would like to arrange a viewing or discuss individual care needs, please contact us by phone or email. We look forward to welcoming you and supporting you in making informed decisions about care.
