The team of care professionals at Barlochan House are dedicated to delivering high quality care to all residents at all times. All team members are experienced and trained to meet the requirements of residents and their differing needs, with a focus on making residents' stay with the home as comfortable as possible.
The home benefits from beautiful surroundings which can be enjoyed year round from the outside space or the spacious indoor living areas.
Every room offers ensuite facilities, including the four rooms which are dedicated to couples wanting to reside in the home together. Every day is different at Barlochan House, with a variety of activities and trips being available for residents who wish to socialise and get out about, but privacy and quiet time is equally respected by staff members at all times.

My mother moved into Barlochan House Care Home in November 2023. I visited many of the care homes in Dumfries and Galloway and am so pleased that there was a room available at Barlochan. Mum has always been very independent and had been living alone for five years following the death of my father. She loved her garden, feeding and watching the birds and was determined to look after herself, refusing any visits by carers so I was extremely anxious to find the best possible care for her. Mum has settled in really well and always tells me that she is very comfortable, that she is well looked after and that the food is good. The meals are all freshly prepared and there is always a good selection of biscuits and cakes on offer. The home is very well managed, feels welcoming and homely, the staff are wonderful and the standard of care is exceptional. I cannot recommend Barlochan House highly enough.

From the minute my mum entered this care home, she was made to feel welcome. The staff are all friendly and available when needed. They accommodate my mum's requirements. They have made this difficult transition easy. My mum is very happy and well cared for.

My mum entered Barlochan House Care Home in November 2023 and has received exceptional care. The staff are friendly and approachable as well as being highly trained professionals. Mum's dementia has recently accelerated and after consultation with my brother and me, she has been moved into the special dementia wing. She is very happy there and well cared for. Her moods are accepted and I feel she is treated with respect. The home is always clean and welcoming and living 300 miles away, I find it very reassuring that she is settled and happy. My brother and other members of the family are more local and can visit more regularly and find the same level of satisfaction that I do. I also really appreciate the communication with the home and the regular newsletters with details of the variety of activities and entertainment that the home provides. I would certainly recommend Barlochan to anyone considering care for a loved one.

Our mum has been at Barlochan House since November 2022. She has recently been moved to the Memory (EMI) ward (2 months ago). We were hesitant to have her make the move (from another part of the home) but it has been the best thing that could have happened to her. The care is astonishingly good: loving, professional, knowledgeable, astute. The environment is cozy, clean, bright, and calm. Her room is also cozy, clean, and bright. Our mum, while she doesn’t really understand where she is, says she loves it there. The food is excellent and they cater to each individual's likes and dislikes. There is an enclosed outdoor space accessible from the ward and I can imagine when the weather improves, that our mum will be drawn to spend a lot of time out there. My sisters and I all live abroad and we can rest easy knowing our mum is so well and lovingly cared for. The five stars I have given are easily and well-earned.

Barlochan is a very open and inclusive home, the care, attention and friendship which my mum received were wonderful. Every single member of staff works incredibly hard and to a very high standard. The food is amazing, the housekeeping and maintenance team keep the home spotlessly clean. The seniors and caring team are all incredible and are very special people who love their job and are dedicated to the residents what shines through is that the home is a very happy place to visit and work and is very well run. My wonderful Mum was treated with great respect and dignity and was made to feel such a part of the Barlochan family. The staff were always laughing and teething with her and had such affection for my Mum. I would not hesitate to recommend Barlochan take over the care of your loved one, it is managed and operated by a very kind and caring team of women and men.

I cannot speak highly enough of Barlochan House and its wonderful staff. My wife moved there in July, and the whole process was made as smooth and as simple as possible. At what is a difficult time for everyone, I was so grateful that the staff kindly took over much of the actual move and my wife was settled in quickly and quietly. The home is always very welcoming when I go to visit, and the staff are always helpful and kind. I am so grateful for everything that they do for my wife and, indeed, for me too. Thanks!

Barlochan is super in every way. Mum and Dad moved into a double room in October 2019. All of the staff are amazing. The food is excellent too. They have been as careful and as safe as physically possible regards Covid and still are. We very sadly lost Dad in March (natural causes, not to Covid)....
