From mum arriving at Alma on coming from hospital I have been impressed with everything. The welcome on her arrival was second to none. It was as if she'd been away for the day. Staff are all so friendly and approachable. Nothing a bother, long may this continue.

My mother is exceptionally well looked after by the management and staff of Alma McFadyen House. They know and understand her so well. The genuine care on display to all residents during my regular visits is warm, loving and attentive.

Management communication is excellent. Inclusive activities are a regular feature and the food is very good. The home has a beautifully kept garden.

My father has been a resident at Alma McFadyen House for 1 year and 4 months. When he went into the care home he was made welcome by staff. He settled right in, he loves his bedroom, that overlooks the lovely garden, and staff brought him a bird feeder which is attached to his window as he loves to watch the birds. The staff keep the care home immaculately clean and dad is always dressed and turned out well. We feel the staff are like his extended family. The meals provided are tasty and they have a good choice. At the moment the cooked breakfasts are going down a storm! I'm so happy we chose Alma House for him, as I know he is very well cared for.

My mum has been in Alma McFadyen House for almost two years. She has received the highest quality of care and attention.
The staff are always around to answer any questions. They also keep me well informed if anything happens with my mum and I am not there.
All the staff are respectful to the residents. The lady does a wonderful job of keeping the residents occupied and interactive as much as they can. They have many groups who come into the home to entertain the residents. She also keeps the home themed to what time of the year it is.
This year the Christmas decorations were outstanding. Beautiful for the residents. The maintenance person makes sure that the grounds around the home are welcoming and not neglected. He keeps the garden at the back of Alma a wonderful space to sit when the weather allows.
The home is clean and tidy to a very high standard. My mother's room is always clean and tidy.

As a family, we are very happy with Alma McFadyen House.

Mum is so well cared for. At the moment the care home is so Christmassy and warm and welcoming. It's so friendly and Mum (who has advanced dementia) is telling us how happy she is here. We can visit anytime we want. They are so welcoming to us and know Mum's needs each day. Although Mum doesn't leave the care home now, she is well-stimulated with all the activities and interaction with all the people around her and is left to sleep when she wants to or needs to. I'm so happy she is here at Alma KcFadyen House. It's the best.

I am so happy that my mother in law came to live at Alma McFadyen House. We were all very concerned as to how she would settle in moving to a town as she has lived beside the sea most of her life. The friendliness of the staff and the general ethos of the care home had her settling in within days. I feel that she sees this as her home. I would recommend this home to anyone.

I have found the staff to be helpful, polite, courteous and considerate. They know Mum well and understand her situation, likes and dislikes. They are always cheerful and positive and appreciate the different activities and events, and they work hard to include her. I know they listen to Mum and respect her wishes. I always feel fully informed and enjoy seeing Mum on their Facebook page.

The home provides the care needs of my parent extremely well. Staff are friendly and helpful. I can discuss care needs, concerns and overall well-being openly with staff and the manager. I am kept informed. The accommodation is kept clean, tidy and warm. WiFi access could be extended to cover the whole building.

The care team is of the highest quality. Their focus is entirely on the residents. Each of them is treated with patience and respect by all of the care and support team. I observed the manager draw out a resident who did not respond to others. The manager chatted to her encouraging her to relax and respond with a wonderful smile. This time was really special to them both. A senior carer sensitively approached and managed our family issues efficiently.

Problem; new upstairs rooms, there have been repeated issues with the toilets not flushing and the TVs having no reception. Please ensure all the garden seats are updated/clean during the summer.

Alma Mcfadden House is an excellent and outstanding care home. Since my mother has become a resident in November 2021, I have witnessed her receiving kindness and compassion from the staff. Also, her individual resident nursing care plan has been acted on. She always looks well dressed and her hygiene well attended to, nails, hair, etc. Mum is involved in her own decision-making regarding nursing care, nutrition, and involvement in activities. Covid has reduced activities in the home, always to be reinstated. The two episodes have been dealt with in an exemplary manner. Staff working overtime to ensure care is given. Communication and food are excellent. Home atmosphere and staff are excellent.
