My mum has been a resident in Glenburnie Care Home since November 2019. Her room in Glenburnie is a good size, bigger than the room she had in the previous care home she stayed in.
Mum likes the fact that all the rooms in Glenburnie are en-suite and on the ground floor, in the previous care home
her room was on the first floor, and she used the lift to get to and from the lounge/dining room, which was on the ground floor. Also, while she was there, she had to share a toilet/bathroom with about four other residents, so she likes the privacy of her own bathroom here. She also likes the fact that there are several lounge areas.
The staff are always attentive and friendly, and Mum enjoys the food here. She has made friends with some of the other residents, and has enjoyed some of the entertainment which has been going on at the home - although I think she would like more!

Our mother has been in Glenburnie for several years, she has dementia. The staff are always caring, patient and polite. The use of bank staff has reduced noticeably over these few years.
The home is clean, the food fresh and plentiful, staff always offering tea and toast or similar between mealtimes
or if a resident is poorly and out of sorts.
The outside area has improved and inside has been redecorated.
There are scheduled activities and regular residents relatives meeting to discuss any matters of concern.
Our mum is happy here and we have peace of mind.

I have nothing but praise for Glenburnie Care Home and staff, my mother is treated with respect and dignity and as her needs change the staff adapt to suit her needs without any prompting from the family, they pick up on changes to her health and mobility very quickly.
We as a family are always made
to feel welcome, staff make you aware that this is our mother's home, I recently spoke to a couple of members of staff, one said they would be happy to come into this care home if and when required and another member who had worked elsewhere commented on how at Glenburnie they really care.
The management always updates you on any changes required to her care plan, have monthly meetings for relatives, their input is very important to management, relatives have also had training on dementia and are encouraged to come for a meal with the residents in order for them to give their thoughts. Any suggestions that relatives have is taken on board and implemented if possible.

Thank you for your great review Susan, I am most pleased to hear that staff would themselves be happy with the standard of care if it were themselves receiving care, very reassuring.

My aunt has been in Glenburnie care home over 4 years and has settled in greatly.

Fab home, the staff are extremely pleasant and even helpful when visiting her. They take my elderly father and they are very helpful in assisting him in/out to the car.

No complaints and I would definitely recommend.

Having experienced this home over a period of 18 months we found the home was unable to provide the care required by my mother who had deepening dementia despite being a dementia listed Care Home. Some of the staff within the home are pleasant and tried their best and sometimes in very difficult circumstances
especially when running on minimum staff and we found bank staff used on numerous occasions. We found the lack of any management cover at a weekend strange and during evening times and weekends reliance for running the home appeared to be provided by a Senior Care Assistants. We also found at times the management to be defensive and slow to act on relatives feedback. We have since had to move my mother to another home with more experience in Dementia care.

My sister-in-law appears to be happy and comfortable while living in Glenburnie Care Home. She’s supported to go on short visits to the local shops and surrounding areas. The staff make her visitors feel very welcome and offer refreshments when they visit even when they appear quite busy. The manager
takes time to speak to visitors and is helpful with any queries.

My mother has been at Glenburnie for almost 3 years. She is very happy there and is well looked after. I am very happy with the level of care she is being given. I am, however, a little concerned about the level of staff turnover recently.

My family and myself are very happy with the care my mother receives - if we have an issue it gets dealt with as soon as possible that is the main thing. Staff are all very approachable when needing to ask anything about mum's health.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.700)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.700) out of 10 for Glenburnie Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.800 for Glenburnie Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.8
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glenburnie Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
