As the is good you need to get more staff and more care worker as it would save staff from rushing about and it would help with inaction with the resident. Also try and keep the relative with how the person health if they need to do more to help their family member.
All round care is good we need keep standards up so families feel they are involved with their family and their friends.
The main thing is we make all person happy and that they don't feel that they human being and just a number I know that in here that doesn't here which makes me feel good as relative off two people who are living in this care home.

The care of them in my main concerns which I feel don't need worry about that and I know they are safe in this care home.

Our family is very happy with the care my uncle has been receiving after his multiple strokes and early onset dementia.

Even though his mobility and appetite have been deteriorating as of late, the team here clearly do their best for him every day. Communication has been solid as well, which matters because I'm not based in Edinburgh and have to manage his affairs from overseas. We're grateful for the support and attention he's getting.

My godmother has been living in Forthland Lodge for nearly 5 years and we have been very happy with how she has settled to life in here. She was well supported after her twin sister died (who also lived in Forthland) in February.
She is always well turned out when we call to see her and feel guilty if we arrive when she is engaged in one of the activities and take her out.
She has had a few teeth removed but has not suffered any weight loss that we've noticed and anyway she enjoys the food served here.

The staff always let us know if there are any concerns or permissions required for vaccines etc.

My initial observations was that Forthland Lodge was not like a "normal" Care Home and could be described as a large bungalow integrated in a housing estate with a Conservatory looking onto an open well kept garden supplemented by other outdoor seating areas - excellent environment. Internally, the no of clients was just under 50 making it quieter than other Care Homes I viewed.

As most people agree, it is the level of care that is the most important factor and again my observations showed the staff displayed a high level of care in all aspects of my wife's needs along with showing empathy and some fun where appropriate. This was also the observations of my wife's friends and relatives who were always offered a cup of tea and biscuits on arrival.

I have not heard of any complaints of the meals provided, and the room was clean and tidy and equipped with full en-suite facilities (unlike some other Care Homes). Finally, there is generally no problems of getting parked.

My dad is really happy and settled in Forthland Lodge. He has a lovely large room with his own toilet, shower room and TV. Occasionally he will sit in the restrooms that are also available. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. He enjoys his food and he has a large choice of meals to choose from during the day as well as being offered coffee and snacks. On a personal note, most of the time I can park outside the care home which is convenient and if I have ever had a question or issue I have found the senior staff obliging and efficient.

Mum's overall care has been good. She is content and looks well. We do have an issue with the laundry and missing clothes. Which is frustrating and costly. Also Mum's TV remote keeps getting lost. The ethos is good and staff at Forthland Lodge Care Home are caring and friendly and our dad is cared for well, so we are very happy about that.

My dad came into care on 19/04/2023, this was a very upsetting time for our family. Everyone at Forthland Lodge Care Home has welcomed my dad and our family.

I can't thank you all for the help and support you're giving my dad. We feel safe now Dad is with you, he is looked after well. Forthland staff are so helpful. Dad has had a new lower bed, alarms in his room and a crashmat if he falls. I get a phone call if Dad falls. I appreciate everything you do for my dad. Thank you.

I have just attended my mother's second 6 monthly review. Fourthland Lodge have been very attentive and imaginative in meeting my mother's changing needs and interests. They achieve this through friendly observation and reflection.

It is hard to see my mother as Alzheimer's ravages her, but, in this setting, she is safe, confident and busy, alongside peers and professionals who show affection kindness and diligence. This is a great comfort in difficult times.

My husband has now been in care for three years and his dementia has progressed rapidly. He is unable to make good use of the facilities in the home now, but as a family, we are happy with the care given. We are always informed of any changes in his health. Suffering from seizures he was prescribed medication and to avoid falls from his bed the bed was lowered and a safety mat put down. We also receive six monthly reviews and as a family, we are always consulted regarding his care and medication.

My husband is a resident of this care home. I feel basically he is being looked after well enough, but sometimes it is difficult to get any requests sorted out. He was measured for support stockings for his very swollen feet months ago. They were ordered, but still no sign of them. His badly swollen feet are affecting his mobility. He is also awaiting a little narrow table for his room. The one he has can't pull into his chair for him to drink. I would like to have more contact with the manager when I need things sorted out, but never see her. Quite a few of his items are missing, no sign of them.

Meet the Team (1)

Wendy Forbes
Wendy ForbesJob Title:Care Home ManagerJoined: 2013

At Forthland Lodge, I am passionate about providing a comfortable environment that is a happy place to both live and work.

In 1991, I qualified as a mental health nurse and worked in both the NHS and private care for over 20 years until I joined Meallmore in 2012. Throughout this time, I have gained significant insight into the care needs of the elderly, and I am dedicated to providing the best quality care to our residents.

Our care home staff work hard to build relationships with residents, developing an understanding of what is best for each individual in our home and what hobbies and activities they enjoy.

Our weekly breakfast club and regular coffee mornings are a great opportunity for residents to socialise with one another and take part in activities within the local community. The conservatory and garden also serve as the ideal space to enjoy some quiet relaxation.

I endeavour to have everyone feel welcome when they come to Forthland Lodge, and our staff go the extra mile to ensure that everyone’s needs are met.
