I have found the staff and services provided by them have improved my mother's quality of life. They keep me informed on any and all things related to my mother's health and care. I'm able to visit any time or phone with any queries both of which has helped with any concerns I may have. I recommend the care home for people in need of caring and friendly staff.

Really happy with my mams care. She is treated with dignity and respect. Everyone is approachable carers nurses and management my dad goes in every day to see my mam and they are very kind to him as well. We are always made to feel welcome when we go in.

You really need to consider installing air conditioning as the home is very uncomfortable being far to hot.
The TV system in the lounge is terrible, it keeps freezing all the time. Needs fixing.

Overall Experience

My mother is a resident for the past three years. During that time the only positive thing I can honestly say is that the Nursing staff do a good job with the resources they have. As for the rest, the food is tasteless, unbalanced and mostly inedible, despite the fact that I have complained since day one! I used to attend Relatives meetings, but the management just tell you what they want you to hear, it's all about profit! The laundry facilities and general cleaning of rooms is questionable! They have lost my Mum's new hearing aid, all our communication has to be conducted on pieces of paper. This has been an issue for at least 8 weeks! For two weeks now she has been left to use a pillow with no pillowcase, despite me drawing this matter to the attention of staff on two occasions. If she wasn't so frail now, I would move her to a better Carehome. It's a sad and unsatisfactory place to end her days!

Tracey too me to see the lady boys at the Alhambra Dunfermline. The show was fantastic. The dancer's were amazing. The did Billy Jean by Michael Jackson. There was a comedian he was halarious. I loved the show.

Overall Experience

Care provided by the staff is good. Staff interact with resident's in a kind and empathetic manner. The activity co-ordinator is excellent. She offers a variety of activities, her interaction with the residents is upbeat and energetic and this helps motivate the residents to get involved. I have been present when two outside people were brought in to offer a sing song + exercise session respectively. The response of the residents was very positive. *One negative - reception for TV set in sitting room is murder. The viewing of all TV programs is interrupted by constant poor reception.

My Dad went in to Mearns House on 8 June 2026. From the initial telephone call with Marianne to meeting Kirsty at the hospital prior to his discharge, they have been fantastic. The care, patience and kindness shown by every single person there, has made what could have been a difficult time, so much easier for my Dad and our family. A very special mention to Mandy C - I have never met anyone who has given so much to her job - she is a wonderful human being - few people like her.

Overall Experience
My stay has met all of my needs.
From the moment I arrived I felt at home. All the staff have been so kind and caring towards me. Thanks to Mearns House, I have had the opportunity to visit many local attractions. I would like to sat a special thank you to Mandy for always going above and beyond, thank you will never be enough.

Couldn't reccommend Mearns House enough. It has been great.

We are regular visitors to Ivybank to visit an elderly friend the staff are very friendly, helpful and caring not only to the residents but to family and friends who visit. It is a comfort to know she is being looked after by such caring and attentive staff.

I was in Mearns House for respite care while my son and family were away on holiday. I did the same things last year and I knew I would be well looked after. I relaxed the minute I went through the door and the whole experience was just so lovely.

Overall Experience

The happy atmosphere and sheer profesionalism of the staff have put paid to any anxieties we had about Dad moving here. Since he arrived following a decline after a major health event, Dad has settled in nicely and is thriving. Staff are easily approachable and friendly and have tailored their caring for our Dad's needs. Moving your loved one into a care home is a daunting experience and requires adjustments for the whole family. Redwoods are supportive all the way. Our family feel we hit the jackpot here.

We couldn't wish for a better place for our sister! She is well cared for and the staff could not do more for her. There is always lots to do and they often put special events on. The home is kept clean and tidy and allow the residents to make their room a real home from home!

When he arrived, he was struggling significantly with past trauma, feeling anxious. The team invested in his emotional wellbeing with profound patience & empathy. Through their person-centred approach, they provided an environment that enabled trust building. They took time to understand his history, his triggers & tailored care accordingly to foster a sense of security. Seeing him recover his sparkle is immensely comforting. They've nurtured him & treated family as true partners to care.

Whilst the rooms and general decor are excellent the staff are what makes Mearns House special.
Nothing was too much trouble the chefs accomodated Mum's special diet, her laundry was perfect and her room was spotlessly cleaned daily. The care given by the carers and nursing team was exceptional.

I would highly reccomend Mearns House.

My father attended the Grove Care Home in Kemnay for three weeks of Emergency Respite Care. It was the first time he'd been away from his home environment for many years. On arrival the care staff that were on came into his room and introduced themselves, which was a lovely touch and made him feel instantly at ease in his new surroundings. We cannot fault the care that he recieved and the staff were always cheerful and friendly. There was always a lovely atmosphere about the place and Isla, the Manager and her staff were always there to help with any questions. Dad can be quite a fussy eater but he really enjoyed all his meals, which were of good quality and a good variety across the week. Our grateful thanks to all the staff at the Grove for looking after Dad so well.

I have left a review previously and given Ivybank 100% positive 5 stars across the board. The staff are a godsend. Their patience is amazing! Dad is happy and content and enjoys the activities that are provided, he is encouraged to join in and even gets up for a wee dance even although he is almost 93. The staff, weather permitting take the residents along to a local pub for lunch and a wee dram - Dad really enjoys these outings and the girls make it quite special, thank you Ivybank

I find the staff at the Home welcoming, caring and attentive to the needs of my parents. There are plenty of stimulating and varied activities for them to take part in. Even though my parents can sometimes be confused and challenging to deal with they are treated with compassion and dignity.
