Daviot Care Home has made my mum's life enjoyable, safe and given her a new lease of life over the last 13 months. She is happy again, has restarted eating properly, and is engaging with others, both staff and residents. I feel safe in the knowledge Mum is well looked after, receives great care, and
has a range of enjoyable and fun activities to join in with. Mum's care is well documented and I feel the care home staff at all levels know my mum and treat her very well.

Greenan Manor

from Susan H (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I couldn't recommend Greenan Manor highly enough. My mother lived there for two years with gradually worsening vascular dementia and she deteriorated physically too. However the staff, every single one of them from every department, was caring and did everything they could to make mum comfortable
and add enrichment to her life. It wasn't easy as at times she didn't want to engage but they always worked round what she would do or enjoy.
Physically it is very comfortable and appears more like a good hotel, with excellent private facilities but it also has lovely public areas which is great for the residents. The 'cafe' on each floor allows residents and their visitors to engage in a setting which gives the feeling of an outing.
However, the most important thing about Greenan is the staff. They genuinely care about their residents and spend time with them beyond the nursing and care responsibilities. Mum had a 'good' death, surrounded by loving care which extended to us, her family.
Reply from Cameron, Greenan Manor Care Home at Greenan ManorThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We are truly grateful for your words and for the trust you placed in Greenan Manor to care for your mum. It means a great deal to hear that our team were able to bring comfort, enrichment and dignity to your mum's life, and to support your family so compassionately at such an important time. Your comments about our colleagues across every department will mean so much to the whole team. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

My dad, Robin, was at Daviot Care Home until he passed away in January. During his time here, he was happy, relaxed and extremely well cared for. The staff treated him with dignity and respect and created a homely, stimulating environment. He had friends, community and quality of life in his last years.
The catering is of a particularly high standard. When Dad's health began to deteriorate as his Alzheimer's progressed, staff supported him round the clock, with expertise and great competence as he died peacefully.

My mother was finding it more difficult to cope at home after her vascular dementia diagnosis...we initially enquired at Greenan Manor if she could possibly stay on a respite basis for a few weeks as my mother and father in law had both stayed for a few weeks and the care they received was excellent.
It was arranged that my mother should initially stay for 2 weeks but the care and support she received from Joe and his team was outstanding and the change in my mother's mood and demeanor was incredible...my mother is now a full time resident at Greenan Manor and she has a quality of life she would not have if she was anywhere else.. As a family we can't recommend Greenan Manor enough it truly is a class above any other care home that I have visited.
Reply from Cameron, Greenan Manor Care Home at Greenan ManorThank you for taking the time to share your experience with Greenan Manor. Your kind words about Joe and the team mean a great deal, and we are grateful for your recommendation. My mother moved to Kynnaird a few weeks ago and she has settled in well and loves it The staff are exceptionally kind and the Manager is fantastic, very welcoming to our family and ensuring my mum is happy. Very happy with respite care for my father. Staff very helpful and friendly. Very pleased with the level of nursing care and flexibility to arrange hospital appointments, physio visits etc.

Mearns House

Urgently needed some respite care for mum. From initial visit and chat to home assessment report, Mearns Home have been nothing but professional, friendly, helpful, attentive and most importantly caring.
During stay mum took unwell and was taken to hospital for a short time , as I was out of the
country Mearns Home made sure that I was updated on a regular basis which greatly helped my peace of mind. Upon my return we requested an extension to the respite stay, as we knew mum would be well looked after giving us peace of mind, once again our request was dealt with very easily and quickly.
The home itself is very clean nicely decorated with beautiful surroundings which in the summer will I assume be well used, lots to do to keep residents interested and involved. The only downside from mum seemed to be the food, either not too her taste or portion too small, but that may have been more of a personal issue
We would have no hesitation in using or recommending Mearns House
Reply from Kirsty Craig, Home Manager at Mearns HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback; we are truly grateful for your kind words and are delighted to hear that your experience with Mearns House was such a positive one during what we understand can be a stressful time. It is especially reassuring to know that our team was able to provide you with peace of mind while you were out of the country, and that our regular updates during your mum's hospital stay were helpful and supportive. We are also pleased that we could accommodate your request to extend her respite stay smoothly, and that you were happy with the cleanliness, surroundings, and activities within the home. We very much appreciate your honest comments regarding the food, as we recognise how personal preferences can vary, and we will take this on board as we continue striving to improve and better meet individual needs.

We would like to say thank you to Denise, Joyce and all the wonderful staff at Culduthel Care Home, Inverness, for the outstanding care, kindness and commitment shown to my Mum/Nan from the moment she first arrived and all throughout her 7 year stay.
Mum's Alzheimers progressed and she passed away
on 5/2/2026. The staff were exemplary in their care of Mum/Nan during her final days. Mum/Nan being a retired nurse tutor would have been so proud.
Reply from Cameron, Culduthel Care Home at Culduthel Care HomeThank you, for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. We are truly honoured to have been part of your Mum's journey over the past seven years. It means so much to hear your kind words about Denise, Joyce and the wider team - we will make sure they are shared with everyone. We are especially grateful that you recognised the care and compassion shown during your mum's final days. Supporting residents and their families at such an important time is something we hold very close, and your words will mean a great deal to the team. Our thoughts are with you and your family. Thank you again for trusting us with your Mum's care.

My mum has been in Airthrey Care Home for 2 years now and has had excellent care throughout her time there. Her condition is deteriorating and has required hospitalisation on 2 occasions over the past 6 weeks. The nurses at the Home reacted swiftly to changes in my mums condition and called an ambulance.
They also kept me well informed of the situation. Mum was happy to be back in the Home once she was discharged from hospital and although she now requires more care it's always given to her with kindness and reassurance.

At the end of last month I had to go away to the Far East for work. While I was away, I had was able to keep up to date with what my Mum was doing and hpw she was getting on through the Airthrey social media page and email updates.
Mum was kept well entertained while I was away & when I got back, her
reaction was "I didn't expect to see you so soon". Since then, she seems to be perking up and becoming more outgoing than before which is a positive change for her.
As with literally everything around the world at the moment, costs keep rising, but the recent global events haven't had as big an impact as might be expected, and the quality of care, sustenance and activities has not been impacted.
Keep up the excellent work.
