Daviot Care Home has made my mum's life enjoyable, safe and given her a new lease of life over the last 13 months. She is happy again, has restarted eating properly, and is engaging with others, both staff and residents. I feel safe in the knowledge Mum is well looked after, receives great care, and
has a range of enjoyable and fun activities to join in with. Mum's care is well documented and I feel the care home staff at all levels know my mum and treat her very well.

My dad, Robin, was at Daviot Care Home until he passed away in January. During his time here, he was happy, relaxed and extremely well cared for. The staff treated him with dignity and respect and created a homely, stimulating environment. He had friends, community and quality of life in his last years.
The catering is of a particularly high standard. When Dad's health began to deteriorate as his Alzheimer's progressed, staff supported him round the clock, with expertise and great competence as he died peacefully.

We would like to say thank you to Denise, Joyce and all the wonderful staff at Culduthel Care Home, Inverness, for the outstanding care, kindness and commitment shown to my Mum/Nan from the moment she first arrived and all throughout her 7 year stay.
Mum's Alzheimers progressed and she passed away
on 5/2/2026. The staff were exemplary in their care of Mum/Nan during her final days. Mum/Nan being a retired nurse tutor would have been so proud.

Mum moved into St Olaf in August 2025. It was a huge change for her having been fiercely independent all her life. After going for a visit "to see what she thought"; she said she felt she could be happy there. Fast forward 6/7 months and she is totally at home and enjoys it. The staff are
welcoming/friendly and actually spend time with the residents, not just to support their care needs. I regularly see ladies having their hair put in rollers, nails painted or staff supporting activities. There are daily activities for residents and family are encouraged to join in.

The home is always clean and warm and mum is well looked after, I have peace of mind because I know mum is happy and safe. We can come and go, visiting when we like, just as we did when mum was living in her own house, we can even stay for lunch or dinner if we want to.

Mum is more mobile since moving in, her health is the best it's been for over a year.

Reply from Cameron, St Olaf Care Home at St Olaf Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with St Olaf and for trusting us with your mum's care. We understand what a big step it can be moving into a care home, especially for someone who has been fiercely independent, so it means a great deal to hear that your mum now feels settled, at home and enjoying life here. Creating an environment where residents feel comfortable, supported and able to continue enjoying the things they love is very important to us. It's lovely to hear your kind comments about our team. Spending meaningful time with residents, supporting activities and creating those everyday moments - whether that's getting ready together, enjoying activities or sharing meals - is a big part of life in our home. Thank you again for your kind words. It's wonderful to hear that your mum is happy, feeling well and that you have peace of mind knowing she is safe and well cared for. That means everything to us.

Our initial experience with Culduthel was 18 months ago when Mum convalesced after a prolonged period in hospital. The care and support then was excellent. We recently required a 2 week period of respite care .
The standard of quality care remains consistently high with dedicated long serving staff
who are compassionate and caring. The home is clean, comfortable and provides a homely welcoming environment. The food is tasty and nutritious . There is a high staff / resident ratio and regular activities. Mum was welcomed like an old friend and so enjoyed her holiday - even making Dad a Valentine Card at the art class ! The respite care allowed Dad a chance to rest and recharge. The staff were very aware of his needs too and provided invaluable support to him and to us as a family. To all the Team at Culduthel , you are awesome ! Please know how appreciated you are .

The feedback around the environment, quality of food and activities on offer means a lot to us and it is always a pleasure to include your dad and to know he got the rest he needed. Thank You

Very happy with mum's care. She's very well looked after, well fed, and well liked by all staff. My only criticism, and I understand why, but her lovely clothes are boiled to death. All scrunchy and misshapen. Even taking them home and laundering them doesn't always help. Please please put synthetics
on a lower setting.
Reply from Cameron Hunter, Deputy Manager at Redwoods Nursing HomeThank you so much for your lovely feedback about your mum's care. We're delighted to hear that she's happy, well looked after, and so well thought of by the team - that truly means a great deal to us.
We really appreciate you raising your concern about her clothing. While our laundry processes are designed to meet important infection control standards, we completely understand how frustrating it is to see favourite outfits affected. Your comments are helpful, and we will review this with the team to see where we can be more mindful with synthetic fabrics wherever possible.
Thank you again for your feedback and for your continued trust in us - it's always valued.

My wife has been a resident for some time now having transferred from hospital after a significant episode. She had spent a considerable amount of time in hospital and whilst her medical needs were met, understandably, her social care was very poor.
Redwoods has a tranquil setting with a stable workforce
(no agency) and they get to know the residents very well.
Therefore her social needs have been met beyond expectations.
Of course, my family's concern was whether her medical care would be up to scratch. We needn't have worried. The level of expertise demonstrated by the staff has been truly exceptional.
The comfort and lack of stress this has given to all members of the family has been immense.
My sincere gratitude to all staff members at Redwoods.
Reply from Cameron Hunter, Deputy Manager at Redwoods Nursing HomeThank you so much for your thoughtful and heartfelt feedback.
We're truly pleased to hear that your wife has felt settled and well supported at Redwoods. Creating a calm environment with a consistent team who genuinely know and understand our residents is something we value deeply, so it means a great deal to know her social needs have been met beyond your expectations.
We're also very grateful for your kind words about our clinical care. Providing high standards of medical support alongside compassionate, person-centred care is at the heart of what we do, and it's reassuring to know this has brought comfort and peace of mind to you and your family.
Your appreciation will be shared with the entire team. Thank you for placing your trust in us.

St Olaf Care Home

from Martin L (Brother of Resident) published on 10 February 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We looked for care homes and found St Olaf in Nairn and arranged to meet the manager Kath. She was friendly and welcoming and gave us a tour of the care home. Our first impression was that it was well managed, warm and clean with very visible friendly staff. A room was available so we said yes immediately.

My brother now seems to be becoming part of the furniture. We get sent periodic photos of him feeding the birds, out for a walk and playing scrabble. He helps(!) the staff clearing tables. The food is prepared to a high standard and I can personally vouch for the lasagne and rice pudding! Over the Christmas festive period, I watched him smiling and clapping during the pantomime, a reaction that has been rare in recent years.

I cannot speak more highly of St Olaf, Kath and her whole team who have provided a welcoming, caring and homely environment for my brother. Nothing appears to be too much trouble.

Reply from Kath Allan, Care Home Manager at St Olaf Care HomeWe're delighted to hear that from your very first visit, St Olaf felt like the right place for your brother. We are so pleased to know that our team's warm welcome, visible presence and homely environment helped you feel confident in your decision.

It's wonderful to hear how settled your brother has become and how much joy he's finding in everyday moments, from feeding the birds and enjoying walks, to games of Scrabble and even lending a hand with clearing tables. Those small, meaningful moments really do mean the most, and it's lovely to know you're able to share in them through the photos we send.

Seeing your brother smiling and clapping along during the pantomime is exactly why everyone at St Olaf does what they do. Thank you again for your trust and for such generous feedback. We're proud to support your brother and your family, and we'll be sure to pass your thanks on to the entire team.

St Olaf Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Dad has now been at St olaf for over a year. We moved him from an appalling situation in an Inverness care home just before Xmas 2024. We were blown away at the time with the care and compassion Dad received ( and indeed we did). Dad was non verbal when we moved him, moribund and we thought that the
prognosis was not good. Fast forward to a year later and Dad is still here, flirting with the ladies, enjoying the staff banter and looking forward to his meals and home events. We never thought such a turn around was possible. The care, the excellent food, the compassion and love he receives from everyone in St Olaf has brought about this transformation. As a family we can never thank them enough. Dad is looking forward to his 95th birthday at the end of January.
Reply from Cameron, Team Member at St Olaf Care HomeThank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt review and for trusting St Olaf with your dad's care. Reading about his journey over the past year, and the transformation you've seen, is incredibly moving for our team.

We know how difficult that transition must have been for your family, especially given the circumstances at the time. To hear that your dad is now enjoying life, looking forward to meals and events, sharing laughter and even flirting a little, means the world to everyone at St Olaf. It speaks volumes about what compassionate, person-centred care can achieve when it's delivered with genuine warmth and understanding.

Your kind words about the care, food and compassion shown by the team will be shared with them. They will be incredibly proud to know the difference they've made, not just to your dad, but to your family as well.

We're delighted to hear your dad is looking forward to celebrating his 95th birthday andlook forward to a very special celebration.

My review was very predictive. Time was taken to listen to any questions and views expressed by myself on all aspects of the wellbeing of my husband, from health, both physical and mental, to participation in the life of the home and his interaction with the residents. I gained reassurance and peace
of mind to take away from the review, something that is lacking when I am in my husbands company.

We understand how difficult it can be when things feel uncertain or when anxieties arise during visits, and we want you to feel confident that he is safe, supported and truly cared for when you're not here.
