Redwoods Nursing Home

My wife has been a resident for over a year now. After an extended stay in hospital, the family was eager to get a suitable nursing home. This was not without some concerns. We were confident that her social needs would be catered for (which, obviously was not something the hospital could do) but her
clinical care exercised our thoughts.
We needn't have worried - the nursing care has been beyond exemplary to our everlasting relief.
It is one of the most important decisions anyone can face to choose a nursing home for a loved one. That EVERY member of staff we meet works to the highest standards to ensure a safe and comfortable stay is beyond our (admittedly very high) expectations and we are eternally grateful for the peace of mind this gives to all our family.
Well done REDWOODS.
Reply from Cameron, Team Member at Redwoods Nursing HomeThank you so much for your heartfelt words. We understand how significant and emotional the decision can be when choosing a nursing home for a loved one, especially after a long hospital stay. Knowing that your wife feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for means everything to our team. Your recognition of both the clinical care and the social support we provide is incredibly meaningful. Every member of our Redwoods team works with compassion, professionalism, and dedication, so hearing that this has brought your family real peace of mind is deeply appreciated. Thank you again for your trust and for taking the time to share such a generous review. We're honoured to support your wife and your family.

My review was very predictive. Time was taken to listen to any questions and views expressed by myself on all aspects of the wellbeing of my husband, from health, both physical and mental, to participation in the life of the home and his interaction with the residents. I gained reassurance and peace
of mind to take away from the review, something that is lacking when I am in my husbands company.
Reply from Cameron, Team Member at St Olaf Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share this. We're really glad to hear that your review meeting felt supportive and that you were given the space to talk through every aspect of your husband's wellbeing. Taking time to listen - properly - is incredibly important to us. It means a lot to know you left feeling reassured and with greater peace of mind. We understand how difficult it can be when things feel uncertain or when anxieties arise during visits, and we want you to feel confident that he is safe, supported and truly cared for when you're not here. Thank you again for your trust and for working with us as partners in his care. We're always here to talk, to listen, and to support both you and your husband in every way we can.

We have always found all the staff very caring, professional and compassionate towards our friend who is under nursing care in Redwoods nursing home. Our friend suffers from the results of a severe stroke which rendered her immobile and with very limited speech. The staff spend time with her and put
huge effort into communicating with her and we have seen first hand, how she interacts with them. So a huge thank you to you all!!

The staff team at Culduthel are first rate. Irrespective of role, they all work to support the residents and are very personable and approachable. It is clear to me that they really know my mum, enabling them to provide very person- centred care. The care home is very homely and kept spotless. My
mum settled in quickly and I can't express what a comfort it is to me knowing mum's needs are so well catered for.

My father became a resident at Redwoods Nursing Home 4yrs ago & I can honestly say the care & attention he has received has been exceptionally brilliant.
He has not always been the easiest to deal with but all staff have been brilliant.
Due to the care & kindness my father has received my
mother decided there was no better place for herself to see out her last years but in Redwoods also.
She has been a resident there now for nearly 6mths & I am amazed how well she has settled in.
She is looking so much happier & healthier since going there.
She's never been one for mixing with others but the staff have made her feel so welcome.
She says she's feels like part of a family
Huge thank you to you all,You have all taken so much pressure off of me and I can now enjoy my time with my parents and not have to worry about them.xx

Culduthel Care Home is warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly, caring, and always willing to go above and beyond to support both residents and families. Communication has been excellent - I have been kept well informed with regular updates and easy access to staff whenever I've had questions.

The

Dad has settled in really well. He enjoys the meals, the menu is varied and is changed regularly, there are tasting sessions for all prior to the changes. Dad takes part in the activities and has recently joined the singing group preparing to Christmas. There's a lovely display of poppies sown the
side of the building, residents painted bottle ends and Elena put together the display with help from others. The staff know him and his preferences. The Summer Fete saw local groups come and entertain on a sunny afternoon.
Family are encouraged to be included in what the home has going on, as their time allows, and we're always made to feel welcome.

The team at Redwoods are professional, compassionate and simply put, the very best. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who finds themselves in need of the service they provide. My mother has been cared for at Redwoods for nearly two and a half years. I see the staff go above and beyond
to make their residents as comfortable and happy as possible. There are lots of activities, interaction with the local schools, and music. Nursing care is of the highest standard and everyday care is carried out with the greatest of respect , dignity and good humour. Food, laundry, maintenance and other behind the scenes work is clearly done by people who care. Well done to everyone at Redwoods Carehome.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My family relative moved to St Olaf from another care home. The difference in care standards between the two providers is notable with St Olaf being better by some margin in my estimation.

My relative has mobility issues. They were previously left in bed for days at a time, perhaps being transferred

from bed to a comfy chair just a couple of times a week. At St Olaf they are transferred from their bed every day and are then able to participate in some of the activities and to take meals in a communal setting rather than in isolation.

St Olaf has a more homely ambiance than other care homes that I've visited which have had an unappealing institutional atmosphere. Furthermore, the interior condition is better than I've seen elsewhere. There is an attention to detail that is typically lacking in other care homes.

My only criticism to date is with the billing: So far I've received two incorrect invoices. There is scope for improvement in the back office function

Reply from Kath Allan, Care Home Manager at St Olaf Care HomeThank you so much for your comments - at St Olaf we strive to provide an inclusive and homely environment. I will certainly take your comments forward and ensure accuracy regarding invoices.

I'm very happy with the staff at Redwoods and would like to note my appreciation of their patience, care and kindness they show my friend. I am well aware that my friend "has his days" and can take it out on the very people who are helping him. I am concerned about the situation regarding my friend's
TV. I first raised the issue with his faulty remote control several weeks ago. Nothing has changed sadly- the remote doesn't work. I'd like to see my friend set a new flat screen TV so that he can choose what to watch and maybe even watch music or online streaming services.

I can only comment on my visits during the week I have been in Nairn from abroad.
