Review of Redwoods Nursing Home from Lindsay J (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 July 2026 Submitted via Website

The happy atmosphere and sheer profesionalism of the staff have put paid to any anxieties we had about Dad moving here. Since he arrived following a decline after a major health event, Dad has settled in nicely and is thriving. Staff are easily approachable and friendly and have tailored their caring for our Dad's needs. Moving your loved one into a care home is a daunting experience and requires adjustments for the whole family. Redwoods are supportive all the way. Our family feel we hit the jackpot here.

We couldn't wish for a better place for our sister! She is well cared for and the staff could not do more for her. There is always lots to do and they often put special events on. The home is kept clean and tidy and allow the residents to make their room a real home from home!

All the management and staff are very caring, supportive and professional towards us and our friend resident in the home.

They try their very best to get our friend to take part in the many activities in the home but she doesn't want to get out of her bed and they respect her wishes.

When he arrived, he was struggling significantly with past trauma, feeling anxious. The team invested in his emotional wellbeing with profound patience & empathy. Through their person-centred approach, they provided an environment that enabled trust building. They took time to understand his history, his triggers & tailored care accordingly to foster a sense of security. Seeing him recover his sparkle is immensely comforting. They've nurtured him & treated family as true partners to care.

Always a warm welcome on entry with an offer of coffee/cake! My mother has been well cared for since September 2024, Although she is bedridden she is often visited by carers who she enjoys chatting to anytime. Management keeps me well informed via email which is reassuring. I know my mother will be cared for at the end of life - her wish is NOT TO BE MOVED. The staff overall are friendly, caring and pretty cheerful!

Mum was in St Olaf in June 2026 for two weeks respite care. She was very happy and settled for her stay and was well looked after - she especially enjoyed the daily activities. I have nothing but praise for the Manager (Kath) and all her staff. I would definitely put Mum there again.

I wanted to write another review after submitting my initial one in early 2025. My Mum has deteriorated with her frontal lobe dementia and has experienced some challenging times. However, Denise, Joyce and the staff have worked tirelessly with me to ensure that Mum's changing needs are catered for. Mum moved to a quieter part of the building which helped no end. She's receiving excellent care, both personal, medical and in her well being. I was amazed to see her in a Knit and Natter group knitting away with a huge smile when I went in last week. Mum is empowered as far as possible to make her own choices and staff facilitate her being able to maintain some control, dignity and sense of self. She eats well, has a lovely room with nice facilities, she is encouraged to maintain her hygiene and chooses her own clothes, she is kept occupied with activities and treated with respect and compassion..

The staff are friendly, warm and compassionate and are very supportive of me as well as Mum.

Mum has been staying at Culduthel for the past 5 weeks.
We have been made very welcome by all the team.
I am extremely impressed and grateful for the care she has received.
The staff have been wonderful, so kind, caring attentive and professional towards mum myself and anyone visiting.
The activities team have been great in keeping mum occupied, entertained and very happy.
Today at a come dine with me session I asked mum what one thing would she change about Culduthel she replied..absolutely nothing!
Think that says it all! Keep up the great work.

Thank you to everyone in the team.

My mother transitioned into this facility today.
From my engagement with the Care Home Manager to this transition experience i have seen nothing but caring and professionalism.
They visited my mother at home and then partnered with myself and my mothers in home carers to help create a strong transition plan that enabled a dementia sufferer to move in dignity while being very cognisant of the emotional impact.

This i am confident is an establishment that cares for its residents and staff alike to make this feel like home.

Caroline was extremely helpful and covered all aspects of Christine's care. She put us totally at ease and asked if we had any concerns - which we do not. She was very helpful, checking staff available on shift when we will be visiting for Christine's 90th birthday. We, as a family, are delighted with the care Christine receives and are very grateful to all carers, nurses, kitchen staff, entertainment. Just 'thank you' all.

We are so relieved to have got dad into Daviot after a year spent between 2 hospitals where his condition was rapidly deteriorating, more so than the dementia. The staff at Daviot have been superb, and this has lifted some of the weight from mum. We know there are difficult times ahead, but we now feel supported in a way we did not by the hospital staff and confident that Dad is being given the care and dignity he deserves.

Daviot Care Home has made my mum's life enjoyable, safe and given her a new lease of life over the last 13 months. She is happy again, has restarted eating properly, and is engaging with others, both staff and residents. I feel safe in the knowledge Mum is well looked after, receives great care, and has a range of enjoyable and fun activities to join in with. Mum's care is well documented and I feel the care home staff at all levels know my mum and treat her very well.

My dad, Robin, was at Daviot Care Home until he passed away in January. During his time here, he was happy, relaxed and extremely well cared for. The staff treated him with dignity and respect and created a homely, stimulating environment. He had friends, community and quality of life in his last years. The catering is of a particularly high standard. When Dad's health began to deteriorate as his Alzheimer's progressed, staff supported him round the clock, with expertise and great competence as he died peacefully.

We would like to say thank you to Denise, Joyce and all the wonderful staff at Culduthel Care Home, Inverness, for the outstanding care, kindness and commitment shown to my Mum/Nan from the moment she first arrived and all throughout her 7 year stay.

Mum's Alzheimers progressed and she passed away on 5/2/2026. The staff were exemplary in their care of Mum/Nan during her final days. Mum/Nan being a retired nurse tutor would have been so proud.

Review of St Olaf Care Home from S S (Daughter of Resident) published on 25 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum moved into St Olaf in August 2025. It was a huge change for her having been fiercely independent all her life. After going for a visit "to see what she thought"; she said she felt she could be happy there. Fast forward 6/7 months and she is totally at home and enjoys it. The staff are welcoming/friendly and actually spend time with the residents, not just to support their care needs. I regularly see ladies having their hair put in rollers, nails painted or staff supporting activities. There are daily activities for residents and family are encouraged to join in.

The home is always clean and warm and mum is well looked after, I have peace of mind because I know mum is happy and safe. We can come and go, visiting when we like, just as we did when mum was living in her own house, we can even stay for lunch or dinner if we want to.

Mum is more mobile since moving in, her health is the best it's been for over a year.

Our initial experience with Culduthel was 18 months ago when Mum convalesced after a prolonged period in hospital. The care and support then was excellent. We recently required a 2 week period of respite care .

The standard of quality care remains consistently high with dedicated long serving staff who are compassionate and caring. The home is clean, comfortable and provides a homely welcoming environment. The food is tasty and nutritious . There is a high staff / resident ratio and regular activities. Mum was welcomed like an old friend and so enjoyed her holiday - even making Dad a Valentine Card at the art class ! The respite care allowed Dad a chance to rest and recharge. The staff were very aware of his needs too and provided invaluable support to him and to us as a family. To all the Team at Culduthel , you are awesome ! Please know how appreciated you are .
