Always a warm welcome on entry with an offer of coffee/cake! My mother has been well cared for since September 2024, Although she is bedridden she is often visited by carers who she enjoys chatting to anytime. Management keeps me well informed via email which is reassuring. I know my mother will be cared for at the end of life - her wish is NOT TO BE MOVED. The staff overall are friendly, caring and pretty cheerful!

I wanted to write another review after submitting my initial one in early 2025. My Mum has deteriorated with her frontal lobe dementia and has experienced some challenging times. However, Denise, Joyce and the staff have worked tirelessly with me to ensure that Mum's changing needs are catered for. Mum moved to a quieter part of the building which helped no end. She's receiving excellent care, both personal, medical and in her well being. I was amazed to see her in a Knit and Natter group knitting away with a huge smile when I went in last week. Mum is empowered as far as possible to make her own choices and staff facilitate her being able to maintain some control, dignity and sense of self. She eats well, has a lovely room with nice facilities, she is encouraged to maintain her hygiene and chooses her own clothes, she is kept occupied with activities and treated with respect and compassion..

The staff are friendly, warm and compassionate and are very supportive of me as well as Mum.

Mum has been staying at Culduthel for the past 5 weeks.
We have been made very welcome by all the team.
I am extremely impressed and grateful for the care she has received.
The staff have been wonderful, so kind, caring attentive and professional towards mum myself and anyone visiting.
The activities team have been great in keeping mum occupied, entertained and very happy.
Today at a come dine with me session I asked mum what one thing would she change about Culduthel she replied..absolutely nothing!
Think that says it all! Keep up the great work.

Thank you to everyone in the team.

We would like to say thank you to Denise, Joyce and all the wonderful staff at Culduthel Care Home, Inverness, for the outstanding care, kindness and commitment shown to my Mum/Nan from the moment she first arrived and all throughout her 7 year stay.

Mum's Alzheimers progressed and she passed away on 5/2/2026. The staff were exemplary in their care of Mum/Nan during her final days. Mum/Nan being a retired nurse tutor would have been so proud.

Our initial experience with Culduthel was 18 months ago when Mum convalesced after a prolonged period in hospital. The care and support then was excellent. We recently required a 2 week period of respite care .

The standard of quality care remains consistently high with dedicated long serving staff who are compassionate and caring. The home is clean, comfortable and provides a homely welcoming environment. The food is tasty and nutritious . There is a high staff / resident ratio and regular activities. Mum was welcomed like an old friend and so enjoyed her holiday - even making Dad a Valentine Card at the art class ! The respite care allowed Dad a chance to rest and recharge. The staff were very aware of his needs too and provided invaluable support to him and to us as a family. To all the Team at Culduthel , you are awesome ! Please know how appreciated you are .

Culduthel Care Home is warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly, caring, and always willing to go above and beyond to support both residents and families. Communication has been excellent - I have been kept well informed with regular updates and easy access to staff whenever I've had questions.

My father has been a resident of Culduthel Care Home for the past 3 months, during which time I have been very happy with his care. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There is an extensive range of activities to suit all capabilities and I have accompanied my father to many of these, which he has enjoyed. The food is varied and nourishing and should he not want anything on the menu there is nothing the staff are not able to provide for him. He eats well and has gained weight in the time he has been there.
The surroundings are beautiful, furnished to the highest standard and there is always tea, coffee and soft drinks available to visitors, along with delicious home baking.
I am always made to feel welcome and can visit any time and stay as long as I like.

Our family's experience at Culduthel Care Home has been nothing short of excellent. It is not an easy decision for anybody but the genuinely caring staff, very comfortable rooms, and warm atmosphere has helped Mum settle in very quickly. Surrounding herself with items from home has eased the process considerably and being able to entertain friends and family in the dining room enables mum to independently enjoy entertaining almost as though she was at home (delicious by the way!). For us, visiting Mum is a very relaxing part of the day and it does feel like visiting her 'at home'. I don't think that moving to a care home is anybody's Plan A but Culduthel Care Home has exceeded everybody's expectations, particularly Mum's. As I say the staff are very kind and treat Mum with dignity at all times. Life is certainly easier and safer. Mum is settled and very comfortable. Culduthel is a lovely and very well run care home. My parents were able to be residents there in the same room and to our family it was the next best place to home. The management and staff worked tirelessly to provide the best care for my parents with a genuine interest in their welfare and happiness and I am deeply grateful to them all. It was a joy to visit my parents knowing that they were in good hands. There was always a warm welcome at the door with smiles and greetings from the staff who would readily give me an update on my parents. Meet the Team (1)

Denise Scott
Denise ScottJob Title:Care Home Manager

We care passionately about our residents, staff and relatives at Culduthel. I am committed to developing a positive and caring home where people enjoy living and working.

I personally became passionate about caring for the elderly after moving to the Highlands when I was 19 to study nursing and midwifery. I went on to work as a staff nurse and in management with the NHS and the private sector.

We offer a variety of activities to suit resident’s tastes and needs at home. I want to ensure people can still enjoy their hobbies or make new ones, along with meeting new friends. Community outreach and local school engagement is also very important to what we offer.

We provide nutritious meals with great menu choices recommended by our chef and chosen by residents. All dietary requirements are looked after and there are six spacious lounge/dining areas so residents can choose where to enjoy their meals.

I want to ensure residents have fulfilled lives during their time at Culduthel; their well-being is my top priority.
