As the is good you need to get more staff and more care worker as it would save staff from rushing about and it would help with inaction with the resident. Also try and keep the relative with how the person health if they need to do more to help their family member.
All round care is good we need
keep standards up so families feel they are involved with their family and their friends.
The main thing is we make all person happy and that they don't feel that they human being and just a number I know that in here that doesn't here which makes me feel good as relative off two people who are living in this care home.
The care of them in my main concerns which I feel don't need worry about that and I know they are safe in this care home.

Our family is very happy with the care my uncle has been receiving after his multiple strokes and early onset dementia.

Even though his mobility and appetite have been deteriorating as of late, the team here clearly do their best for him every day. Communication has been solid as well, which matters

because I'm not based in Edinburgh and have to manage his affairs from overseas. We're grateful for the support and attention he's getting.
Reply from Cameron, Team Member at Forthland LodgeThank you very much for taking the time to share your experience. We're pleased to hear that your uncle has been well supported at Forthland Lodge, and it means a great deal to the whole team to know that you and your family feel confident in the care he receives. We understand how challenging it can be to manage a loved one's affairs from overseas, so we're especially glad that our communication has helped you feel connected and reassured. Our colleagues work hard to provide consistent, person-centred care, particularly as needs change, and your kind words are truly appreciated. Thank you again for your thoughtful review. We're always here for you and your uncle, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything.

My godmother has been living in Forthland Lodge for nearly 5 years and we have been very happy with how she has settled to life in here. She was well supported after her twin sister died (who also lived in Forthland) in February.
She is always well turned out when we call to see her and feel
guilty if we arrive when she is engaged in one of the activities and take her out.
She has had a few teeth removed but has not suffered any weight loss that we've noticed and anyway she enjoys the food served here.
The staff always let us know if there are any concerns or permissions required for vaccines etc.
Reply from Cameron King, Forthland Lodge Care Home at Forthland LodgeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It's lovely to hear that your godmother has felt so well supported over her time with us at Forthland Lodge - especially through the difficult loss of her sister earlier this year. We're honoured to have been part of both of their journeys. Our team takes great pride in ensuring that residents are engaged, well cared for, and always treated with dignity - and it's heartening to hear this reflected in your experience. We're delighted that she continues to enjoy our meals and activities. Thank you again for your trust in us - it means the world to our whole team.

My initial observations was that Forthland Lodge was not like a "normal" Care Home and could be described as a large bungalow integrated in a housing estate with a Conservatory looking onto an open well kept garden supplemented by other outdoor seating areas - excellent environment. Internally, the
no of clients was just under 50 making it quieter than other Care Homes I viewed.

As most people agree, it is the level of care that is the most important factor and again my observations showed the staff displayed a high level of care in all aspects of my wife's needs along with showing empathy and some fun where appropriate. This was also the observations of my wife's friends and relatives who were always offered a cup of tea and biscuits on arrival.

I have not heard of any complaints of the meals provided, and the room was clean and tidy and equipped with full en-suite facilities (unlike some other Care Homes). Finally, there is generally no problems of getting parked.

Reply from Cameron, Forthland Lodge Care Home at Forthland LodgeThank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review. We're delighted to hear that your experience of Forthland Lodge has been so positive, from the calm and homely environment to the quality of care your wife has received. It means a great deal to know our team have shown empathy, attentiveness and a bit of fun where it's been needed most, and we're so pleased that friends and family have also felt welcome and well looked after during visits. Your kind words about the meals, facilities and overall atmosphere are greatly appreciated by the whole team. Thank you again for your trust and support.

The bedroom my mother sleeps in does on occasion smell of urine. The shower room WC on my last visit had not been cleaned properly. I cannot comment on the food and drink she is given. It appears when visiting my mum that the staff are attentive.

My dad is really happy and settled in Forthland Lodge. He has a lovely large room with his own toilet, shower room and TV. Occasionally he will sit in the restrooms that are also available. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. He enjoys his food and he has a large choice of meals to choose from
during the day as well as being offered coffee and snacks. On a personal note, most of the time I can park outside the care home which is convenient and if I have ever had a question or issue I have found the senior staff obliging and efficient.

All of the staff are lovely and can't do enough for him. He loves living here.
He was in respite before moving in here which was lovely however his room here is much bigger and he has the added benefit of having his own shower room.
Great place to be.

Mum's overall care has been good. She is content and looks well. We do have an issue with the laundry and missing clothes. Which is frustrating and costly. Also Mum's TV remote keeps getting lost. Her room is clean and tidy. The staff are always friendly and supportive. As a visitor we are well cared
for with the offer of tea and a biscuit. The facilities are well cared for and tidy.

The ethos is good and staff at Forthland Lodge Care Home are caring and friendly and our dad is cared for well, so we are very happy about that.
We would like to see more activities done with residents as there is not much entertainment or activities going on.
Control of our Dad's diabetic diet could
also be better.
Reply from Wendy Forbes, Care Home Manager at Forthland LodgeThank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're delighted to hear that you find our ethos positive and we greatly appreciate your kind words about our caring and friendly staff.
Regarding activities, we have recently hired a new activities coordinator who has some exciting plans for the future and we're actively working on introducing more initiatives to keep our residents engaged and entertained. Most activities take place during the day, as we find this is when our residents are most highly engaged.
As for your dad's diabetic diet, our team will reach out to you to re-address any concerns and make the necessary improvements. Your insights are essential in helping us provide the highest quality care for your dad. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more suggestions or questions. My dad came into care on 19/04/2023, this was a very upsetting time for our family. Everyone at Forthland Lodge Care Home has welcomed my dad and our family.
I can't thank you all for the help and support you're giving my dad. We feel safe now Dad is with you, he is looked after well. Forthland staff
are so helpful. Dad has had a new lower bed, alarms in his room and a crashmat if he falls. I get a phone call if Dad falls. I appreciate everything you do for my dad. Thank you.

I have just attended my mother's second 6 monthly review. Fourthland Lodge have been very attentive and imaginative in meeting my mother's changing needs and interests. They achieve this through friendly observation and reflection.
It is hard to see my mother as Alzheimer's ravages her, but, in this
setting, she is safe, confident and busy, alongside peers and professionals who show affection kindness and diligence. This is a great comfort in difficult times.

My husband has now been in care for three years and his dementia has progressed rapidly. He is unable to make good use of the facilities in the home now, but as a family, we are happy with the care given. We are always informed of any changes in his health. Suffering from seizures he was prescribed
medication and to avoid falls from his bed the bed was lowered and a safety mat put down. We also receive six monthly reviews and as a family, we are always consulted regarding his care and medication.

My husband is a resident of this care home. I feel basically he is being looked after well enough, but sometimes it is difficult to get any requests sorted out. He was measured for support stockings for his very swollen feet months ago. They were ordered, but still no sign of them. His badly swollen
feet are affecting his mobility. He is also awaiting a little narrow table for his room. The one he has can't pull into his chair for him to drink. I would like to have more contact with the manager when I need things sorted out, but never see her. Quite a few of his items are missing, no sign of them.
Reply from Forthland Lodge, Deputy Manager at Forthland LodgeHi, thank you for taking the time to review our service at Forthland Lodge. There were some issues with the measuring and supply of the support stockings however this has been resolved and we are awaiting their arrival from the suppliers. The table has been replaced and a more suitable one is now available for your husband’s comfort. We’d be really keen to explore with you what items are missing and would also be happy to discuss any other matters relating to your husband’s care. Please feel free to call or email the home (forthland@meallmore.co.uk), or let a member of staff know you’d like to speak with the manager when you visit the home and we will set up a meeting at a convenient time for you.

Thank you
