As per previous reviews this is an excellent care home. My mother has always had exceptional care from all the staff within the home, including the management team. The home is always kept very clean and the staff cannot do enough for myself and mum. Her room is always very well kept and smelling clean.
She has her own nic nacs to help making it more homely. The home is well-maintained and any issues dealt with promptly. Overall highly recommended.

My Dad has been a resident here in Ivybank now for almost 1 year and has settled in well. He enjoys the banter from the staff and he likes giving it back. The food is excellent and he always eats everything that is available. The staff always call me if there has been an issue with his health ie had
a dizzy spell or earache etc. There is always a follow up 6 monthly review with me and his key-worker to raise any concerns from me or from the home. Dad on the whole is very happy here and he has dementia he keeps worrying he may have to leave and needs to be reassured he won't. The only negative is Dads hearing aids go missing constantly and I need to go to Audiology on a regular basis to have them replaced. He is kept clean and presentable at all times
Reply from Cameron, Team Member at Ivybank House Care HomeThank you for your thoughtful review. We're really pleased to hear that your dad has settled well at Ivybank, enjoys the staff banter, and is happy with his meals and daily support. It's great to know our communication and reviews have helped keep you reassured. We appreciate you raising the issue with his hearing aids going missing and understand how frustrating this can be. We'll continue to look at ways to improve this for him. Thank you again for your kind words and for your trust in us - we're always here for you and your dad.

My dad was in this home before he passed in November. We checked on the home before Dad went in and got great unannounced audits and great feedback from family who have a member of their family as resident. The staff are brilliant, all of them are so dedicated and hard-working. They made us, as a family,
always welcome and when Dad was dying, went the extra mile with me, my mum and my sister to do anything they could when Dad was poorly. They made us sandwiches and tea and coffee They checked on me when I stayed all night. They helped me out with a phone charger and were so loving with Dad. It's made his passing easier to know he was so well looked after by all. We, as a family, will be forever grateful.

Excellent care provided to my father over the past three years of being a resident at Ivybank House Care Home. All the staff are professional, caring and friendly and get to know the residents and spend time with them whether it's the care assistants/housekeeping/laundry/catering/handyman/administrator/manager.
My father is always made to feel special and included in all the appropriate activities and entertainment that he enjoys. There is a dedicated activities assistant who ensures that there is a varied and enjoyable daily activities programme so that fun and entertainment can be enjoyed by all, all year round. To those who can't always participate in activities, dedicated one-to-one time is spent with them instead, playing games, listening to favourite music or chatting. The daily lunch and dinner food menus are excellent and provide much variety every day. I would strongly recommend Ivybank House Care Home as a safe and enjoyable care home for any elderly person requiring 24/7, 365 care needs.
Reply from Cameron, Care Home Representative at Ivybank House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your father's positive experience at Ivybank House Care Home. We are heartened to hear that our comprehensive approach to care, encompassing not just our care assistants but also our housekeeping, laundry, catering, handyman, administrator, and management teams has created a nurturing and inclusive environment for your father. It's wonderful to know that our activities program and personalised attention ensure that all residents, regardless of their ability to participate in group activities, feel valued and entertained. We're also glad that our varied daily menus meet your father's dietary needs and preferences. Your strong recommendation is greatly appreciated and we remain dedicated to providing a safe, enjoyable and caring environment for all our residents.

I would like to thank all the Staff of Ivybank House Care Home for the care and attention they have given my mother-in-law in the five years she has been in Ivybank right up to the end. It has been a pleasure to watch all these girls work so hard but still have time for the family and the manageress
for her kindness towards us, as a family. If I had to recommend any care home it would certainly be Ivybank. Thank you all.

Staff are friendly and caring in general. But also busy so there's not always enough time for one-to-one. Don't really know what food is like. They always listen and try to meet with any requests.
The only concern has been laundry - even when labelled, things seem to go missing.

My mother moved into Ivybank House Care Home on 03/03/2023. The transition was taken over by staff with support and consideration for both m mother and ourselves. Her room was freshly painted and we were assisted to put furnishings etc. into her room. All of the staff were extremely welcoming and provided
us with a clear explanation of how her care and support would be delivered, the whole experience has given me peace of mind for my mother's care.

Overall service is excellent and the care of m mum I can't fault.
The only issue is lack of communication when tests etc. are being actioned, as the outcome is never discussed with the family.
On a lighter note, the staff are all very friendly and helpful and I will always recommend this home to
anyone who asks.

I have no concerns about my mother, as Ivybank is very clean, and the staff are very nice and helpful. The food seems to be very good, and Mum has no complaints. Clothes are washed daily, and the beds are very clean. She is well-kept and gets her hair done. Activities are good as she likes making things
and music. The staff always have time to speak to me.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.664)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.664) out of 10 for Ivybank House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Ivybank House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.851 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ivybank House Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.476
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
