My aunt has settled in well at Ivybank. She is well cared for, and the staff are always kind and attentive. She likes a bit of banter, and the staff oblige. Staff are always quick to make contact if there are any concerns. I have no complaints about the home or my aunt's care.

Cannot praise the staff highly enough for their commitment and care during the lockdown. We have had regular contact via the staff’s personal phones, and they are always cheerful despite the conditions they are working under.

As a family, we are happy with the care our brother receives. Management and most of the staff are excellent and treat our brother with dignity. He is encouraged to be independent and asked if he would like to join in the activities on offer. Menus for the residents are excellent.

The overall environment at Ivybank is good. My only criticism is that some staff are more committed than others.

Writing on behalf of our aunt, we would say we are happy with the care that our relative is receiving. She is fed really well and enjoys her food. There have been occasions when she has to wait to be hoisted from her wheelchair to her comfy chair and she becomes very weary and sore.
Also, but rarely, she has been left on the toilet for up to two hours waiting to be moved.

This, however, is rare.

Overall Experience

Ivybank is a relatively small residential care home which is small enough to make the residents feel they have a more personal touch. The meals are very good and nourishing and can be tailored to suit whatever dietary requirements a particular resident may have (they are for my mum). There is always a cup of tea and snacks available outside main meal times. On the whole, the staff are all friendly and very caring towards the residents. There are normally activities programmed during the day as well as guest entertainers for the residents for those able to participate. When any issues have arisen over the years, these have been highlighted and addressed satisfactorily with management.

Finally, having a close relative in a care home is a big decision normally forced upon family and it's very difficult to feel your mum's getting the level of care you want for them or feel they deserve but in Ivybank's case, I feel they provide this.
