My father attended the Grove Care Home in Kemnay for three weeks of Emergency Respite Care. It was the first time he'd been away from his home environment for many years. On arrival the care staff that were on came into his room and introduced themselves, which was a lovely touch and made him feel instantly at ease in his new surroundings. We cannot fault the care that he recieved and the staff were always cheerful and friendly. There was always a lovely atmosphere about the place and Isla, the Manager and her staff were always there to help with any questions. Dad can be quite a fussy eater but he really enjoyed all his meals, which were of good quality and a good variety across the week. Our grateful thanks to all the staff at the Grove for looking after Dad so well.

My aunt has lived in The Grove for some time now. Lately there has been a change in manager and the difference has been incredible. The new manager, Isla, has moved her office where she is more accessible to both residents and their relatives. This is reassuring to us and are welcomed to drop in and discuss any concerns, listened to and matter resolved. These changes have had a knock on effect with staff, they are more relaxed and resident focused as opposed to work motivated. The ambience within the home is warm, comfortable, calm and pleasant to come in to. My aunt is less agitated during my visits and now we have lunch together every week which we both enjoy. The garden is a place to enjoy with lovely plants and shrubs. Seating at strategic spots where we can sit and listen to the birds. My aunts room although not the biggest is comfortable and clean. When I leave I am happy in the knowledge my aunt is well cared for and that's all that matters.

Thank you Isla and all your staff

Mum recently went into the home. She has dementia and is very anxious. Mum lived in her bedroom at home for years so didn't see anyone. The staff have been fantastic with her. Gently starting to coax her from her room to join in with others and activities.
Dad can go as often and as long as he wants.
The room can be made as homely as you want. It is well kept. Clean. As I live miles away I feel so much happier that she is getting well looked after.

I'm always able to phone to find anything out and not feel like I'm being a bother.

Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback about your mum's settling-in journey. We know how big a transition this can be, especially when someone has lived quite privately for a long time, so it's lovely to hear that our team's gentle approach is helping her feel more comfortable and...

The staff are fabulous and are very helpful, caring and attentive to both the residents and the visitors. The home could do with a quiet room where visitors could sit and chat with residents or residents could sit and read outwith the hubbub of the main lounge.

There is no internet connection in the rooms so that is restrictive for both residents and visitors.

Dad has been in The Grove for about 6 months. The staff are always friendly and attentive to him. The home, and his room, are clean and well looked after. There are activities on through the day, and although dad doesn't take part in them, the residents look like they enjoy them.
Dad has been poorly this last week, and they were prompt in calling the doctor and us. They have looked after him well and were keen to make sure we were ok too.

I feel that the staff really care about their residents in The Grove, which means a lot to us.

My husband moved in recently, he is living with dementia. I visit almost daily, and he always appears content in his relatively new surroundings. I am made to feel welcome, and the Care Staff are always mingling with the residents, so available to approach. There is evidence of a huge emphasis on meaningful activities and community inclusion; residents and staff are seen in the local village.

Mum was only resident in The Grove for six weeks as awaiting a room elsewhere, however the care and attention she received has been second to none, and we simply cannot fault it.
All the staff have been absolutely lovely, cheerful and helpful. Her room was always spotlessly clean and fresh, as was the rest of the home. Mum obviously enjoyed the specially prepared food as, following a stroke she was very underweight, but the improvement in her condition in such a short time is remarkable.

Grateful thanks to all the staff.

My husband arrived after being in hospital. Certain drugs that he was given in hospital were not prescribed at the care home so he was very confused, unsettled and became aggressive. This was our first experience of a care home. We all realised (ourselves and care staff) that they could not cope with his condition of Lewy Body Dementia. He was asked to find somewhere else. Some of the carers were good and did genuinely appear to care; however I certainly felt that most staff never really properly supported either of us. I felt we were being talked about behind our backs and there was no real caring support. I was willing to support my husband and his carers. His care notes did not depict what was happening. The staff did little to encourage my husband to walk despite the fact that I managed to get the council physio to visit him regularly. My husband moved to another care home and is now home. On his first day at the new care home he had a shower which was never given at The Grove after a 6 week stay.

Mum is very happy at Grove. The care she gets is very good and all the staff know her well. The food is very good with lots of choice. We can tell when we visit that Mum is comfortable in all the public areas and also enjoys quiet time in her room. They also have a lot of different activities to keep the residents active and engaged where possible.

Overall care is good, relative requires a lot more attention as they get older.

Staff try hard to make relatives as comfortable as possible, they try and spend as much time as they can with relatives and help them with eating requirements and personal hygiene.

I have no complaints about the home, my mother is very happy and content, she is well looked after. As a retired nurse, I have worked in environments similar and am happy with Mum's care.

Yet another new manager has just been advised. In general, care is okay but gets poor inspection reports. Some staff are excellent but others not so. Activities are poor for those more able residents. Not much choice locally.

Dad came to the care home for respite and moved into long-term care soon after. In the eight weeks Dad was there, the care and support given were extremely good. Nurses and carers did as much as they could for him and made him as comfortable as possible. They also were very good at supporting me and other family members when visiting.
