My dad moved into Ty Hafod in May 2026 and I cannot thank the staff enough for how easy they made the transition - not just for dad who settled really quickly, but also for us as family members. Even my 15 year old daughter feels comfortable visiting. We always feel welcome and it is as if we are part of the Ty Hafod family. I feel it is a special gift to be able to create that kind of environment.

Reply from Elizabeth Hughes, Home Manager at Ty Hafod Care Home

Thank you for your kind words, the ethos we have here at Ty Hafod is to create a welcoming and friendly environment for residents and families alike. It is not always easy for families to adjust and to hear your 15 year old is comfortable that is a good thing, that she can carry on her relationship with her Grandfather. will pass this over to the team.

Dad has been at Ty Hafod for four weeks now and is settling in well. The staff are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The home has a lovely homely feel and nothing has been too much trouble. So far the standard of care is very high and I feel that dad is safe and his needs are met.

Don has really settled well in his first month at Ty Hafod. The staff are professional and caring. The family are impressed by the homely atmosphere and are always made welcome. There is a definite improvement in Dons social interaction which had deteriorated while in hospital before moving to Ty Hafod. He loves the food!

Reply from Elizabeth Hughes, Home Manager at Ty Hafod Care Home

Thank you for the kind words, I am so glad that Don has settled into Ty Hafod. I will pass this over to the staff. He is such a pleasure to Nurse. We appreciate the kindness expressed in this review.

Overall good experience of Ty Hafod. Negatives are personal items going missing, hairbrush, shower gel, nail brush etc. On occasion I feel, I have to draw attention to dads ailments chest issues, knee pain, coughs + colds, when I feel this should be picked up by staff.

Our mam came to Ty Hafod at the beginning of 2023. Her condition has changed considerably during this time due to the cruel disease of vascular dementia.
The care from management, nursing staff and carers have been exceptional throughout her time here and she is treated with upmost care and dignity.
The meals have improved considerably over the last few months, with a well balanced, good variety, nutritional home cooked meals.
There are regular activities throughout the week to stimulate the residents ie baking, painting, singing, movie days etc.
Her room is lovely and bright with a lot of personal belongings to make it homely.
We couldn't

thank the staff enough for the care and attention given to our mam whilst staying here.

We have just had a wonderful experience at Ty Hafod, celebrating Mother’s Day with a fabulous afternoon tea. The food was delicious (and abundant!) and the private atmosphere created for us was really appreciated. Ty Hafod’s staff have a warm, friendly approach with the residents and visitors alike. There is great entertainment and activities on hand and the staff take time to get to know the residents in their care.

Mum arrived at Ty Hafod Care Home in early 2019. We chose the home purely due to the friendliness and welcome when we visited. I was thrilled with the level of care and support that she received and she was made to feel very much part of the home. The home's strengths lie in its size and the fact that all the staff know each and every resident. They are cared for both as individuals and part of the Ty Hafod family. During mum's final weeks, the staff did not simply support mum but also the family and we were made very welcoming at any time of the day or night. The staff were superb.

The staff are always friendly and welcoming and are pleased that a resident is being visited. No appointment is needed; no restriction on time. The care is friendly and excellent; a family atmosphere is generated and residents are not left to their own devices; the care is constant and that is the most important thing. Ty Hafod is kept tidy and clean and the outlook over the garden through the lounge and bedroom windows is beneficial for residents, visitors and staff alike. But we cannot ignore the dining room which always looks spotless and attractive and the food wholesome and enjoyable - compliments to the chef and indeed the whole team at Ty Hafod, including the administration for keeping up the standard.

My husband was a resident at Ty Hafod for 16 months before he sadly passed away in June. He was admitted at a very difficult time, due to the covid restrictions but the staff made it as easy as circumstances allowed for me to visit. Later, as the situation improved, our daughters were allowed to visit which was so nice for my husband. By the Spring of 2022, some activities had resumed as well as events in the garden, where residents and their families could take part. Ty Hafod is not very big which gives it a homely feel. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and in particular, I would praise the office/admin members of staff. But thanks go to all who worked there for the care they gave my husband - thank you very much. (diolch yn fawr)

Ty Hafod is a wonderful care home. The staff could not be more friendly, helpful or professional. They take excellent take of my Uncle, regularly checking on his welfare and comfort. They are also fabulous with his relatives, always checking if we would like anything such as food or drinks. The fact that there are no restrictions on visiting times and also that you can bring dogs in is fantastic - seeing my cousin's dog really lifted my Uncle's spirits. He is receiving end-of-life care and the staff are so compassionate, whilst still looking after him exceptionally well. I would not hesitate to highly recommend this care home.

So very grateful to Ty Hafod for making space and time to care for my uncle. I'm even more appreciative of how warm, caring and welcoming the staff have been. They have been so great in making visitors (including my dog) feel at home here. I'm not religious, but angels work here. If I had to pick on one thing, it would be that the radio would remain switched on. I imagine being bedbound without a visitor might feel lonely without it. That's not a criticism of the staff however, I know how hard they work and they do so with so much patience and compassion.
