Excellent- from start to finish- all the staff are helpful and welcoming and care a great deal about their clients. When my mum went into care, I would have been lost without their help and guidance. They listened to my call for help and did what they could. Without them there would have been nothing
as doctors, social workers and even charities have no help on how to manage dementia. They were amazing. At the end, which we managed together with mum's GP, the manager changed her shifts to nights to be with my mum so she was never alone. They have little compared to some of the bigger, flasher homes but they are the best!

Staff at Sherdley Manor are kind, patient and most have a good sense of humour that they share with residents. Accommodation is very clean and spacious, and the new outdoor patio area will offer some welcome change from the lounge for those who are unable to take trips out. The home is in the process
of developing a stronger activities programme, and it is great to see some external entertainers starting to visit and engage with the residents.
The home manager is very approachable, welcomes all feedback and takes great pride in the home and the progress Sherdley Manor is making. She has secured ocassional use of a minibus to take residents on small excursions. Food at Sherdley Manor is plentiful and good quality. I am pleased with the care which is provided to my Mum.

Everything was explained clearly.
Went into detail of Care plan.
Asked if we were happy with the Care our family member was receiving and if we thought anything could be improved upon.
Discussed what residents had been doing and their plans for future activities.
Management and Staff are very approachable
so we can ask questions or raise concerns at anytime.

Overall happy with care. Depends on staffing if mum gets up or not. Do not like the storing of pads in her room, "as they say" it is her home not a hospital.
Reply from Amy Philipson, Manager at Sherdley Manor Care Home

We are aware there is an issue of storing of continence products and are currently in the process of rectifying this throughout the home. Please do not hesitate to come and speak to me with any further issues regarding your mum's room as I will endeavour to act promptly to solve the issue. In regards to depends on staffing if Mum gets up or not, I can clarify that we are fully staffed each day and have daily notes recorded of refusal to get up I do have an open door policy so if you have any concerns with this we can come up with a solution together. Thank you.

My wife has been a resident in the home since March 2023. The care Is good, the staff and management are approachable and visit almost any time. Significant calendar dates are celebrated throughout the year and relatives welcome. Sometimes with food you can enjoy with your relative plus entertainment.
I have no complaints. Continue the good work.

My mum has lived at Sherdley Manor for approximately 3 years now.
She has dementia and though she knows me she has no idea where she is.
Recently there has been more occupational stimulation shown on social media.
I am in favour of this, however, they may have been doing this all along and I didn't
know!
I know that she isn't the easiest person to deal with, however, she is more settled as she stays at Sherdley.
When she fell and had a break in her leg, I worried that she would need to be moved.
Everyone at Sherdley Manor stepped up and seamlessly continued her care.
I am completely happy that she is in exactly the right place.
Thanks to everyone at Sherdley for caring!

My sister is well looked after in Sherdley Manor, she is comfortable with the care of the superb staff and carers. My only concern is that there seems to be little stimulation during the day. Perhaps an occasional sing-a-long to old records or a little gentle sitting exercise for those not able to walk.
Keep up the excellent work otherwise. Thanks for her care.

Mum moved into Sherdley Manor in 2013. It is a homely, comfortable care home. Very clean and residents are treated with kindness and compassion. Staff are very friendly, approachable and hardworking. Relatives are also treated with kindness. If you have any concerns, staff are always there to listen
and help in any way. Nothing is too much trouble for them, I know my mum is being looked after 100%. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

My Mother and Father are presently being cared for at Sherdley Manor Care Home. I am really pleased with the level of care that is provided. The staff are brilliant and they show a genuine concern as to the welfare of their clients. They are always friendly and approachable to answer any concerns I
may have concerning Mum and Dad. The manager is hands on and always available during office hours if you need to speak to her. I have been present at meal times and the food is nutritious and plentiful. Diets are catered for, as with Mum and Dad. The clients are assessed for all their medical needs by district nurses and doctors. I feel I can fully recommend the home to any service user.

The care my mother receives at Sherdley Manor EMI Residential Home is excellent. The food is very good as is the menu. My mother is well looked after and her hygiene needs are well taken care of. All the staff are excellent and work very hard both day and night staff. They always treat my mother with
dignity and respect. They are very friendly and make all visitors feel welcome. I feel they treat her as they would their own family member. Sherdley Manor is a small residential home and its cleanliness is excellent. It is very friendly and sociable for all residents and it gives me and my family peace of mind.

I feel that in the time I have been in contract with Sherdley Manor the management and staff have provided a very good standard of care and support for my mother and from what I have seen treat all the residents with dignity and respect. They seem to have enough staff to cope with daily needs and requirements.
The home is kept clean and tidy at all times. The management and staff are very approachable and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sherdley Manor.

Mum moved into Sherdley Manor in Nov 2015 and settled in really well as a couple of ladies (residents) were asked to look after her which they did. She blossomed being happier than she had been for a long time due to the love, care and support given to her by staff. This home's biggest asset is its
staff. They have wonderful unforced good relationships with residents. We could see they loved my mum saw her as a person not a condition. The atmosphere is happy, jokey, relaxed and we as a family are always made welcome. Residents are treated with dignity and respect. After a recent fall and a 2 week hospital stay and a mobility rehabilitation centre, health professionals gave up on mum. We were informed she would need to be hoisted. But back in Sherdley Manor the care and support of the staff has helped her stand with help, we thank the staff.

The care home is very friendly and welcoming to all current residents and new residents. Always inviting to resident's relatives! All the staff are quick to respond to resident's needs and requirements. Residents are always given choice on what they want to wear and what they want to eat. I have been
volunteering at Sherdley Manor since November 2015 and I have decided to continue volunteering here as it is the most caring and welcoming care home I have ever visited.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.169)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.169) out of 10 for Sherdley Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.569 for Sherdley Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.569
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sherdley Manor Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
