My Mum passed away on 13th December 2021. After fantastic care for four and half years by Elmwood nursing home, suffering from Dementia. Her time at Elmwood was fantastic every member of staff knew her by name. As well as knowing her character, and needs through and through. They also took the time to know us. As her family, we were welcome as often as we wished, and for as long as we wished to stay. We were also able to have meals with her if wished, we took advantage of this and had a Christmas meal with her. Which was lovely. Since mum passed I have been able to keep in contact with Elmwood staff who make me feel welcome, each time I visit, which gives me calmness, as well as friendship.
Elmwood is a lovely caring environment for my mother. She needs a lot of intense care and Elmwood provide that with a smile. She is very happy there. We would not hesitate in recommending the home. Always welcoming.

It's impossible for any care home to give full-time attention to every individual, but within that constraint, the standard of care is very high. The manager prioritises "caring" staff when recruiting, and it shows. Also, it's noticeable that Elmwood is prepared to pay for agency staff to maintain staffing levels. The outstanding feature of the home is a "listening" culture, being receptive to any request or comment and thereby heading off problems. I have also overheard staff praising the home's manager, which doesn't happen in every organisation!

My Mother became a resident of Elmwood Nursing Home following a spell in hospital in October 2021. When mum arrived in Elmwood mum was very poorly but thanks to the dedicated nursing and personal care that mum received mum made a remarkable recovery. It would be difficult to overstate the appreciation that my family and I feel about the care that our mum receives on a daily basis. All of the staff provide kindly loving care and Elmwood has become the conduit of family care that has made all of us feel reassured that our mum is being so well cared for. Elmwood is a nursing home in the true sense of the word providing inclusively managed care combined with pastoral support and provided in a clinically clean environment. The staff come from a diversly rich mixture of backgrounds yet they all share the same common ethos of dedication and human kindness that resonates throughout the home. We are fortunate to have a place for our mum in such a wonderfully managed, caring home.

Pleased with the overall care my mother receives. On my visits, the staff always seem very attentive. Cleanliness is a big plus throughout the areas I have accessed on visits and very happy that the best possible care is given.

My mum has been a resident at Elmwood since July 2021. The care the staff show her is amazing. They are patient, kind and treat her as an individual. I have peace of mind knowing that mum is being cared for and that she is safe and I am grateful for that every day.

I am a close friend and have Power of Attorney for the resident who has been cared for since May 2019, when admitted in a poor state of health having suffered for some time with Bullous Pemphigoid, a rare and most unpleasant skin condition. The Elmwood nursing staff have made huge efforts over subsequent months to dress the lesions and huge blisters inherent to this condition, with care and sensitivity. A Hospital Consultant was able to declare my friend free from the condition this summer, for which the Elmwood staff should be congratulated as this result is considered very unusual given the complexity of the condition. My friend has expressed on many occasions her appreciation for the staff, who she finds friendly and caring. She also has assured me the home-cooked food is tasty and varied. Sadly my friend is bedridden because of a number of other issues, but she remains calm and peaceful. I would be pleased to recommend this Mission Care Home and Team to any of my friends requiring nursing care.

My father’s dementia escalated rapidly and as a family, we had to make the toughest decision to find a care home for him, as we could no longer keep Dad safe at home. We found Elmwood after Dad had a short stint in another home where the level of care was poor. From the moment Dad moved into Elmwood, his physical health improved rapidly and he soon settled happily into his new surroundings. This was due to the high-quality care and attention that Dad received from the outset. As a family we were always made to feel welcome and communication was excellent. Dad was a resident of the 2nd floor and was very happy and content. The nursing staff, care assistants and entertainment team were exceptional. They undertook their duties in challenging circumstances with patience, care and a smile. Sadly, Dad passed away peacefully a few months ago. We will be forever grateful to all of the staff who make this an exceptional care home.

I found the staff to be unprofessional, both in nursing and the Home Manager. There is hardly any communication between staff which leads to confusion and things not being done. Teamwork here is lacking. Elmwood is incredibly short-staffed. Safeguarding issues is something that I am currently taking further and talking to governing bodies.
I do not recommend this home.

We are sorry to read this description of care delivered at Elmwood. We believe that it is both inaccurate and unfair.Elmwood Nursing Home staff always work very hard to provide the very best care for our residents and we work well together as a team. We also ensure that we seek to build constructive and positive relationships with the families and friends of our residents. We believe that we did so in this case, and we are grateful that other reviews clearly reflect the quality of care we provide.
For the avoidance of doubt, it is also important to clarify that there are no safeguarding investigations with regard to the care delivered at Elmwood for this resident.

I am so pleased with the care my mum is given on the 2nd floor, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The daily activities are good with activities offered morning and afternoon. My mother really enjoys the morning activities. The food is cooked on the premises and is of a very good standard. I am very happy with all aspects of mum's care, and would definitely recommend this care home.
The home has a range of things to do. Staff friendly. Not all residents get a drink at 11 and 3, the trolley doesn't always go to bedrooms. Mum not able to ask for drink, so always seems thirsty. Staff need to pop in more and give one. Bedside table not always clean and bedrail cushions. Carpet...

I have only been here one week. I can not fault the facilities or the service provided by the staff. The food is excellent and the staff are very kind and helpful. All in all, I would recommend Elmwood to anyone who needs care.

As far as I am concerned, apart from the odd minor issue, Mission Care stay close to this code of values.
As in all businesses, managers set the tone and style and in this regard, the manager, assisted by her clinical lead, sets high standards and leads by example.
