Here on the northern edge of Barnet, Hadley Lawns warmly welcomes those in need of nursing, residential and short stay care. That could be for a few short weeks of respite for a break, whilst recovering from an operation, or a long-term move. Whatever the reason, their doors are open, advanced bookings available.

There are lots of places to relax and residents can experience a little pampering in the hair and beauty salon, enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in the conservatory or some time with friends in family in one of the home lounges. Outside, the well-tended gardens are easily accessible for wheelchairs. There's plenty of space on the terrace to sit and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, and there are raised flower beds for anyone who'd like to do a spot of gardening.

A nutritious menu of food takes account of personal taste, with the chef taking pride in fresh and seasonal produce as well as supporting sound nutrition.

Residents are able to enjoy a variety of activities as well as regular shopping trips and days out. There’s a real sense of community at Hadley Lawns. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. So whether loved ones already have a hobby or would like to take up a new one, there are lots of exciting activities to get involved in.

Everyone at Hadley Lawns is caring and dedicated. They work tirelessly to ensure the best standard of care at all times, and to make life for all residents as pleasurable as possible. There is a genuinely friendly and welcoming atmosphere at Hadley Lawns, which I believed would be hard to find elsewhere.
I am extremely thankful for the way the Hadley Lawns team looks after my relative.

My mother likes living at Hadley Lawns ( three years plus). She is very comfortable and kept very well. She enjoys the activities especially flower arranging. The staff are very caring and she gets on well with them.

It's great being able to visit Mum now and feel safe for her. It's been so long since I last saw her, March 7th. I hope everything stays like this from now on until the virus has gone completely and we can go back to normal life again.

Hadley Lawns warmly welcomed my mum into the home on the 5th of January 2020. I'm very happy and feel relaxed my mum is there now. I always cared for my mum, who is now 90! I visited my mum every day until covid19, every time I went, I could see my mum happy and improving, gaining weight and Mum said
sleeping well. Always plenty to eat, nicely set up in the dining room, lovely lounge and beautiful gardens. Perfect for my mum.

My husband is receiving end of life care at Hadley Lawns. I have found the home to be very clean and welcoming. My husband is very clean and well cared for. In spite of the virus, I am being allowed to see my husband daily due to his near-death state. I have found the managers and staff so friendly
and supportive. They have given me confidence that my husband is in safe hands, and are highly supportive of me. They make a point of remembering me and using my name. I could not ask more from the care in this nursing home, at this very difficult time for both me and in relation to the virus. I can't comment on facilities as it has not applied to us.

This was an outdoor visit. Well organised and the staff very helpful. The only issue was the large screen that made it difficult for my mother to hear but that is only a minor issue.

I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff at Hadley Lawns. They are providing my mum with the utmost dedication, care and dignity I could ever ask for. The carers go the ‘extra mile’ with my mum making her feel safe and secure. And one lady is just amazing, no other word to describe her. Nothing
is ever too much trouble (and I know I can be quite demanding at times!). The management and staff have managed to keep Hadley Lawns COVID free during this difficult time, which proves their commitment to the residents. My sincere thanks to all at Hadley Lawns.

The care provided to my brother was excellent. The staff are very friendly and attentive and available to assist or inform whenever required. I applaud the competence and ability to ensure that the home stayed free of the COVID virus. That shows dedication to the health and welfare not only of the residents
but also the staff and their relatives, family or friends and the community at large. My brother was provided with excellent care at all times to the end of his life.

When I first came I was very shaken and needed a stress free place to recover. The staff have all been very supportive and caring giving me time to settle and start on the path to recovery. This is a lovely place to wake up to and staff have been kind and friendly and I could choose to join in or keep
to myself if I wished. Many thanks to you all.

My mother has been at Hadley Lawns for nearly two years now and during this time, she has been cared for very well and is always happy when we visit her. The staff are friendly, and where there have been a few changes in management, the home has still operated well, but at times, there appears to be
a shortage of staff. Rooms need to be updated, but are kept clean.

My friend was very well cared for during her stay, and said on many occasions she 'felt safe'. She particularly bonded with one of the carers who showed her tremendous kindness, compassion and treated her with dignity. The manager was also extremely caring and helpful. Thank you, everyone, for your

My wife was fast-tracked through the Hertfordshire Valley's Clinical Commissioning Group for end of life nursing care at Hadley Lawns. I have nothing but the highest praise for all aspects of the care given to her and the consideration given to me by all of the home's staff from the time she arrived
(February 2020) until her death (May 2020). Such a good choice of nursing home.

Convalescent stay. Not enough staff to cope with the high proportion of wheelchair residents resulting in lengthy waits at mealtimes for serving food to begin. Hand basin could have been a bit bigger - if taps turned on too far the water splashed onto the floor. A small shelf near the basin would have
been greatly improved this facility. My 10 day stay sufficient for my purpose - luckily it coincided with tennis on TV every afternoon!

I stayed at Hadley Lawns in October 2019 for one week for convalescence care following a hip replacement. The room was satisfactory, warm and comfortable. I felt that the toilet/ hand basin area could do with refurbishment. I made two specific requests: to re-align the bed so I could get out out the
correct side for my hip and changing the mattress. These were dealt with immediately.
All staff that I met were smiley, jokey and very efficient. Requests were dealt with willingly and as promptly as possible given the many calls on their time.
I would describe the food as 'ordinary'. Standard British-style food - sausages/shepherd's pie, etc which probably suits the demographic of their long term residents. It was generally tasty if unimaginatively presented. In my opinion, the carers tended to put too much on the plates which could be daunting for some of the elderly residents. The carers were largely attentive in helping those needing assistance. The stay met my needs and I was satisfied

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.472)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.472) out of 10 for Hadley Lawns Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.763 for Hadley Lawns Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.763
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.709 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hadley Lawns Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.909
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
