Harts House has well-trained, experienced staff who strive to provide a high standard of nursing, residential and dementia care.

They’re here when you and your loved ones need them most. For planned respite or last-minute trips. A safe space to recover after an operation, to experience what their home’s like before moving long-term, or to simply relax. Whatever the reason, their doors are open.

The home provides accommodation designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Pleasing interior aesthetics including an art deco fireplace, an opulent main lounge and French windows can be enjoyed as well spacious en-suite bedrooms, each offering views of the landscaped gardens.

The home’s in-house chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Harts House, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them. Residents can enjoy sociable mealtimes in one of the dining rooms, or in the privacy of one’s own bedroom. The home provides nutritionally balanced meals for residents and always offers both a cold and hot option at each mealtime.

There is a real sense of community at Harts House. They offer a seven-day holistic weekly activities programme that incorporates creative, social, physical, musical, animal and recreational activities. There is always something going on, from monthly trips, themed events, seasonal parties, weekly ‘stay and play’ with the neighbouring pre-school to personalised one-to-ones for residents if they prefer.

Was there only four weeks for respite care which was beneficial. There was a pleasant atmosphere throughout the house and, in general, a good quality of staff who were most caring.
My critical points relate to things like the whiteboard giving the name of the nurse in charge and carers for the day
not kept up to date; some laxity in the timing of giving medication; and each day although the food was good, there was much wastage as portions were huge!

I stayed at Harts House for respite care for four weeks in April 2019.
I found the care of an excellent standard, the whole building of high excellence.
While I was in residence, the entertainment facilities were suspended due to a virus but the few I experienced were set at just the right level for
the residents.

Positives:
Warm and safe environment. Good facilities for those fit enough to use them.


Negatives:
Management - poor advice, nothing followed up (needs continuous prompting eg finance, care).
Care/support - patient often unkempt, poor care of finger/toe nails, poor hygiene at times.
Communication

- no joined-up approach between hospital/GP/patient and nursing staff (patient 'falls down the middle').
Food - significant weight loss over the past 6 months by the patient. This should have been noted by the care staff that the patient's food was often not eaten.
Correspondence - sometimes gets misplaced.

My sister has been at Harts House Care Home for 18 months following a fall at home. Since arriving at Harts House she has been cared for and made comfortable. There are numerous events/activities for the residents which are optional for them to participate in.
The level of care is very good and we
can relax knowing she is safe and looked after.

Excellent loving staff. Staff unstinting with the time they give patients. Not impressed with G.P. but since then my sister has seen other G.P's who seem more aware of her cancer problems.

My auntie stayed at The Grange on respite. I found the home very friendly and the staff were very approachable, any concerns were answered efficiently. I felt I had made the right decision for my auntie as soon as I entered the home, it just felt the right place for her. The manager was very involved
with the residents. The activities in The Grange are excellent and there is something going on every day for everyone to join in a good range of activities.

From the moment I arrived, I felt very much at home due to the hospitality staff who were extremely welcoming, efficient and helpful.
The nursing staff are always available when needed day and night.

My mother was transferred to Harts House from a hospital in Margate for palliative care.
We have found the home to be very welcoming and are very pleased with every part of the home.
The staff are exceptional on the mezzanine floor and the care overall has been wonderful.

My father has been a resident in Harts House Care Home for palliative nursing care having been discharged from hospital two weeks ago. My mother, sister and I are very impressed with the care dad is receiving. He is treated kindly and with dignity in what are distressing circumstances. All the staff
are professional, kind and caring to us as well as dad. We know he is in safe hands.
I would not hesitate to recommend Harts Houe Care Home.

Having looked at numerous care homes for my then 90-year-old mother in 2013, we found Harts House Care Home. The setting, gardens and welcoming attitude in addition to caring staff, mostly excellent meals and organised care plans for each resident resulted in our choice, one which we have not regretted.
My mother is well cared for, warm, comfortable and happy as she can be in her "home from home". Her only sadness is that everything that she and my Dad worked for will be spent on her fees, sadly nothing can alter that. Thriftiness doesn't always pay!

My Mother spent her last days here, in some very pleasant surroundings. The staff were on the whole friendly & approachable, a nice atmosphere for residents and visitors. There is a pleasant atmosphere. One is given a choice of meals sometimes meat is a bit tough. We have breakfast and supper on a tray in our room and lunch in the dining room. There is a lounge, armchairs for activities on five days. One can sit in open at tables overlooking attractive well-kept garden.
Shower twice a week- ones standards slip a bit. Meetings, residents, staff, management and relatives at regular intervals. There is camaraderie. It must be quite hard pushing us about in wheelchairs when necessary I can walk in any room using a stick. We have TV set in our room - Watch in bed until 10pm with round down or switched off.
