I will always be grateful for the incredible care my dad received at Lakeside Nursing home. From the very first day, the staff treated him with genuine kindness, dignity, and respect. It was clear that they didn't just see him as a patient - they saw him as family. He had stayed at their sister care
home before becoming a resident at Lakeside.
The staff consistently went over and above and during a very emotional and difficult time for our family, their warmth and professionalism brought us tremendous peace of mind.
The facility itself was clean, welcoming, and well-maintained, but what truly sets this place apart is the heart of the people who work there. Their dedication, empathy, and commitment to providing exceptional care made all the difference in my dad's experience - and ours. Nothing was ever too much.
I cannot thank them enough for the love and support they showed my Dad and us during his time with them.

My Dad spent his final days at Lakeside after being at their sister home. The staff couldn't have done enough for us as a family and Dad's care was exceptional in keeping him comfortable and they showed genuine care, compassion and dignity. Lakeside is truly being like part of a family. It made some
very difficult days a much easier process. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lakeside for your loved ones.

Lakeside is a delightful care home, clean and efficient with extremely friendly staff. Mum has been there just over a year now and I'm delighted with care she has been given. She has a lovely room and the home arranged to have pictures that she painted before her dementia put on her walls. All in all
the service is very personal even though mum is pretty much non verbal. I am so pleased that there was a room available at Lakeside when we needed it.

My brother has settled well into the nursing home due to the welcoming nature of the home. The staff are kind, considerate, thoughtful and very professional in all they do.
The atmosphere is relaxed, and the decor gives it a feeling of 'home'. The facilities are excellent.
The management of my brother's
medical condition is constantly monitored by the nurses, which has improved his quality of life to no end. I would thoroughly recommend this home.

I have been connected with Lakeside since 2002, when my mother became a resident, until she passed away there in 2014. She was so well looked after and happy there. Since then I have had continuous connection with Lakeside as three of my friends have been residents and one is currently in her 10th year
with them. Some of the staff that I have known and grown to love and admire for the worth they do and the care they show to residents and families and the fact that several of the staff, who have moved on, still come back to share in activities. Lakeside is a loving, caring home, which is born out by the families and residents who are made to feel valued. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.

My father has been at Lakeside for the past nine months after discharge from hospital.
He is diabetic and has in the past had a stroke and heart attack, during this time he was in and out of hospital for 30 months.
Since moving to Lakeside his health has been stabilized and his overall condition has
improved.
The Lakeside staff have given him (and everyone else) the specialized nursing care and attention that is needed.
Apart from that there is always a good atmosphere with friendly staff and management plus a high level of cleanliness in all areas.
The food which is cooked on site is excellent and family days are well catered for during the summer. Everyone can use the garden which has been designed to make the less mobile feel included.
Overall my family and myself feel like we made the right decision on choosing Lakeside.
On a personal note, my stress levels have gone down knowing that my father is in good hands 24 hours a day.

My Mum has been living at Lakeside for over ten years. Her care has been outstanding. She has been very happy here. As her daughter, I feel welcomed when I visit. Lots of activities that include relatives, happen often throughout the year. If I phone or talk to staff I am always listened to and any
worries about Mums health are dealt with promptly and with sympathy and understanding.
When looking for a home for Mum (and Dad) I viewed lots of Nursing Homes in the area and it had to be Lakeside!

I am so thankful and grateful for everyone at the Lakeside Nursing home who looked after my mother for a week. After caring for her for nearly 3 years without a break, I needed a break and I hesitated for a long time especially with her not speaking English and I'm so glad I choose them. She was cared
and loved by everyone, I was left reassured that she was in the best hands and I have not seen my mother happy, relaxed and full of joy in a long time and from the bottom of my heart - thank you to every staff member who made a difference to her short stay. I can't recommend them enough.

My mum has been at Lakeside for many years now. The staff are always very kind and caring to us and to mum. They are also very good at including family and friends into Lakeside by having events and encouraging involvement. They include us in care planning and are supportive in helping with health and

After looking at several care homes, I knew this was the one. The homely feel, the calm and smiling staff - the contented residence. The staff treat everyone with respect and politeness. The garden is a relaxing peaceful place to sit or look out upon. Everyone is made welcome and you can call or visit
at any time. My aunt feels safe and well looked after. In comfort. Plus it is near to a beautiful lake and park and not too far away from me, which is great.

Lakeside staff were tremendous in taking care of my father. They showed true patience in dealing with his dementia and left no stone unturned when it came to his care needs. Every time I visited Lakeside unannounced, dad always looked impeccably clean, alongside his room, therefore, highlighting very
high standards of cleanliness! The food presented was of a good standard, too. Whenever there were any medical incidents regarding dad; the staff always remained empathetic and professional. Overall, I always felt like I was part of a family.

I chose Lakeside for my husband after many viewings and spending considerable time with the manager and staff, and I can confidently say it was the right decision. From the beginning, it was clear that the standard of care provided is high, with genuine attention and warmth shown to each resident. One
of the things I appreciate most is the thoughtful setup of the lounge-residents are seated in a social, inclusive way, rather than around the edges, and the television is rarely on, encouraging more meaningful interaction. As someone who finds it emotionally difficult having my husband in a care home, I have found the management team incredibly supportive, always ready to listen and offer reassurance. The care staff are consistently friendly, approachable, and attentive. Lakeside feels like a family home, with regular family events that bring us together and allow us to connect with other families in similar situations.

My father has been a resident at Lakeside Nursing Home for the last two years. He was previously a resident at Lakeside's sister care home but unfortunately, his dementia and general health deteriorated to the point where he needed more specialised nursing care. I've always been extremely pleased with
the care that my father has received at Lakeside by all the staff and management alike. He always has a cup of tea in front of him no matter what time I visit and it's these little things that always puts me at ease. I would thoroughly recommend any relative who requires a placement for a loved one to visit.

The moment my Dad arrived, he was treated with the utmost kindness, respect, and professionalism. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

The caregivers, nurses, and support staff are not only highly skilled but also incredibly compassionate.

They take the time to engage with residents to provide personalised care, and create a warm and welcoming environment. It gives our family great peace of mind knowing that my Dad is in such capable and caring hands.

The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed for the comfort of residents. The activities and social interactions provided have greatly improved my dad's quality of life.

I am truly grateful to the entire team for their dedication and hard work. If you are looking for a place where your loved one will be treated with dignity and kindness.

My mum has been in the nursing home for a few months now. She was originally in the "sister" care home. Because we trusted the Manager so much, we moved mum to Lakeside when she needed more care. The care and nurses are wonderful at Lakeside - mum is always so clean and well cared for. The staff
spend time with her, encouraging her to eat and communicating with her. I was so worried about choosing a nursing home - but so pleased with our choice.

My mum was discharged from hospital to Lakeside Nursing Home in June 2023.
When she arrived with them it was not looking very positive for mum but because of their care, love and attention she then stayed with them for nearly 18 months.
During this time she was looked after and cared for so well
by all members of staff and management.
We as a family do not live locally but we were always fully informed regarding mum's health and well being and when we could visit we were always made to feel very welcome.
At the end of mum's life the staff were exceptional, treating my Mum with dignity and respect.
My thanks go to all the carers, admin, activities, the managers and owner for employing such amazing staff and also attending mum's funeral.
A massive big thank you to you all, you all do an amazing job.

Our mum Bridget moved into Lakeside in Sept 2023 after suffering from a stroke. Mum wasn't able to communicate verbally but the kind supportive staff members were able to understand my mum's needs from day one! On arrival we were made to feel incredibly welcome and noticed the family atmosphere and
warmth from everyone there, this was also noticed by Mum's social workers and other people who visited.
There are not enough stars to rate Lakeside by myself, my brother, and son's opinion. We'd give them 100 stars if we could. When it came to the end of Mum's life every aspect was handled so delicately the love and care our mum received was palpable, we cannot thank you enough for loving and caring for our mum and you will all be sorely missed. Thank you all so much kind regards.

My mother arrived at Lakeside from hospital seriously ill and not at all engaging or interested in living. But she became transformed into a bubbly, enthusiastic, engaging individual, Lakeside took care of her, physically and mentally. I visited her daily and always saw that she was clean, dressed nicely,
and smiling. All the staff without exception carried out their duties diligently and with an attitude of dealing with her as a member of their own family; whether they were nursing staff, whether they were involved in feeding, personal care. Lakeside is excellent in the way they arrange activities (inside and outside) and outings for the residents; I have to acknowledge the nonpatient-facing staff for their help in enabling me (suitable wheelchair, mobility taxi, etc). to take my mother out for meetings.
The staff always made the environment very pleasant for family and visitors.
I am very grateful to all of them and cannot speak more highly of them.

My mother moved into Lakeside in Jan 2023, with advanced dementia and mobility issues. It is a wonderfully welcoming, friendly and caring place. There are lots of activities, bingo and choir visits and my mum was always encouraged to join in and it was lovely to see. There are also summer barbeques
and various parties and I and my family have lovely memories of my mum enjoying these with us.
I cannot speak highly enough of the staff, they worked so hard to help my mother feel involved and join the many activities and loved raising a smile from her. They take the time to do small things that matter - making sure my mother wore something she liked, had her nails painted and helping her eat the freshly made cakes that come around in the afternoon.
When my mother deteriorated towards the end, the home was superb in keeping my and my sister informed and my mother supported.
I am enormously grateful to the home and all the staff there for the wonderful care they gave my mother.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.969)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.969) out of 10 for Lakeside Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.969 for Lakeside Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (253 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 260 Ratings = 4.969
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeside Nursing Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

At Lakeside Nursing Home, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care in a warm and welcoming environment where every resident feels safe, valued, and truly at home.

As a small, friendly, family-run nursing home specialising in dementia care, we focus on creating a close-knit community where residents are known as individuals and supported with dignity, kindness, and respect.

I’m Debbie, the manager at Lakeside. I have been part of the management team here for 14 years, including the last 10 years as manager. During that time, we have built a fantastic, dedicated team that shares a genuine passion for caring for our residents.

Many of our staff stay with us long-term, which creates consistency and familiarity for residents. We are also very proud that several members of our care team have progressed into nursing careers and later returned to Lakeside as qualified nurses, something that reflects the supportive culture within our home.

We believe strongly in maintaining an open-door approach for residents, families, and friends. Excellent communication and trust are at the heart of what we do, and there is always someone available to listen, help, or offer reassurance.

From the moment you walk through our doors, you will experience the warmth, professionalism, and sense of community that make Lakeside such a special place to live and work.
