My mother has lived here for a number of years because of very serious mental illness. The standard of care has been very good. The home is clear and staff genuinely care for and build a rapport with residents. There is a high level of commitment to providing a positive experience and constructive activity.

We

have had a few issues but the management have dealt with these swiftly and with great thoroughness, which has been very pleasing and reassuring.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Lakeside as somewhere for people with dementia or other serious mental illness.

Everyone is always made welcome and made to feel part of the 'Lakeside family'. The needs of every individual are considered and catered for to the best of everyone's ability and every effort is made to make life interesting and stimulating for the residents. Care does not cease if a resident has to
be admitted or taken to hospital for any reason. I have recommended 'Lakeside' to a family and they are very satisfied with the ethos-care provided.

My mother was in another home before Lakeside and I feel her care at Lakeside was far superior from what we had received. The staff work as a team, are very compassionate and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff.

My husband has lived at Lakeside for 5 years. My family, friends and I have always found Lakeside to be friendly and supportive to us all, with a warm welcome.
Lakeside is like a home from home, as the staff are very caring and he feels loved, as there is a low turnover of staff. The management team
set the high standards of caring.
He enjoys a variety of social events and activities, we are always invited to join in.
The food is excellent with a good variety and always home cooked from scratch, using good quality ingredients.
The communication with Lakeside is excellent, as we are always kept fully informed of his condition and changes to routines.
Lakeside continually improves the environment for the residents.
I have no hesitation in recommending Lakeside.

My mother was in Lakeside for 12 years and had generally really good care. My friend who is only 75 years is currently a resident and is cared for as best can be - not many care homes would be able to cope with her particular issues but the manager and his team give excellent service.

The staff at Lakeside Nursing Home are kind and compassionate. The turnover of staff is low.
However, some agency carers are being used.
The same 3 nurses have been there since my friend was was admitted two years ago.
The food is good and varied. The home has a good feel about it.

My friend lived in Lakeside for three years sadly dying eighteen months ago. She was blind and deaf, but the staff were very kind and caring when attending to her. I've known Lakeside since 1985, when my aunt was a resident and have always been impressed by the friendly and professional atmosphere.
I am now on the residents committee as I want to continue to support them.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.969)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.969) out of 10 for Lakeside Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.969 for Lakeside Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (253 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 260 Ratings = 4.969
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeside Nursing Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

At Lakeside Nursing Home, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care in a warm and welcoming environment where every resident feels safe, valued, and truly at home.

As a small, friendly, family-run nursing home specialising in dementia care, we focus on creating a close-knit community where residents are known as individuals and supported with dignity, kindness, and respect.

I’m Debbie, the manager at Lakeside. I have been part of the management team here for 14 years, including the last 10 years as manager. During that time, we have built a fantastic, dedicated team that shares a genuine passion for caring for our residents.

Many of our staff stay with us long-term, which creates consistency and familiarity for residents. We are also very proud that several members of our care team have progressed into nursing careers and later returned to Lakeside as qualified nurses, something that reflects the supportive culture within our home.

We believe strongly in maintaining an open-door approach for residents, families, and friends. Excellent communication and trust are at the heart of what we do, and there is always someone available to listen, help, or offer reassurance.

From the moment you walk through our doors, you will experience the warmth, professionalism, and sense of community that make Lakeside such a special place to live and work.
