The team always kept in contact with me and had a great deal of empathy. When we visited we were always spoken to, they took the time to engage with us as a family. We were always offered refreshments and biscuits when visiting. I can not recommend this care home enough it completely changed my views of care homes.
Thank you for your lovely review and comments about our team, which I know they’ll be incredibly happy to hear. Just to reassure you, we always make sure that we have the right numbers of colleagues on hand, to ensure that we always deliver the safe, high-quality care that we’re known for. When you visit, you may not always see every team member, especially during the day when there’s lots going on. Our dishwasher did unfortunately stop working but this was quickly replaced, we received a new dishwasher four weeks ago. Thank you again for your kind words.

We are very pleased that she has settled and that you find the team to be kind and gentle, the food good and home bright and clean. We are sorry to hear that you have found the rooms a little small and tired but as you mention these are awaiting a refresh and we hope once complete this will make a positive difference to the environment for all residents and relatives that visit.

I have many years’ experience of working in residential care, having worked for Richmond’s social services department from 1994 up until the time I joined Care UK in 2001. I later became manager of Whitefarm Lodge in 2004. The thing I like most about my job is the day-to-day contact with residents. I enjoy being a part of their lives and always make time to sit down for a chat and a good catch up with what everyone’s been up to.
We always support residents in whatever they want to do – and they often achieve fantastic things. For example, residents were concerned about the state of the pavements in the local area. So, over time, they raised awareness of this problem with the council and with the local paper too. Following the newspaper coverage, the council made the repairs that residents had been campaigning for.
Something else that I’m really proud of is the way that a group of residents with dementia worked with children from Grey Court School in Richmond and a nearby art gallery to produce a series of wonderful artworks. The theme of the artworks was ‘reminiscence’ and they included drawings, images, text and other multimedia elements. Both groups got a great deal out of the project, learning more about each other’s lives and understanding their different perspectives – and the artworks were very impressive too.
