Located just outside the town centre and within walking distance of the stunning River Ouse embankment – Kimbolton Lodge is a 36-bed residential and nursing home for the elderly.

Many of the rooms have en-suite facilities and the home is currently upgrading their facilities by converting bathrooms into wet rooms.

Kimbolton Lodge offers a wide and fulfilling range of activities from the ever-popular bingo and quiz afternoon through to music therapy, pet therapy, arts and crafts and outings to local amenities.

Once a month, the home is visited by a local mums and toddlers group for a sing-along and dance show, crossing the generations with ages ranging from 6 months to 104 years!

The home prides itself on providing fresh and seasonal home-made food. The residents are actively involved in the menu choices, enjoying a wide selection of tasty, nutritional meals.

Each month Kimbolton Lodge celebrate an occasion through food; haggis for Burns Night, Chinese New Year, Irish stew for St Patrick's Day – the residents choose which event to celebrate and what should go on their menu.

The staff are highly skilled, with a comprehensive induction, training and development programme and are proud to offer a stable, experienced and highly motivated workforce.

The dedicated team ensures that person-centred care treats all the residents with dignity and respect – allowing to live the life they choose.

From the beginning of March 2020, Kimbolton Lodge put into operation a caring/safe "family bubble". All Government guidelines were followed to the letter, with the physical and mental welfare of all residents a number one priority. When allowed, a variety of links were set up to allow family-resident
communication. This includes the building of a purpose-built garden room, to allow "people to people" visits. The staff, under the leadership of the Manager, became a caring, professional team achieving an atmosphere of a secure family in spite of all the adverse challenges.

My mother has been in Kimbolton Lodge since late May 2019. She has been happy there, and I have been most impressed by the care that they take of her and by their good communication with me: this has been particularly important to me as I live in Scotland. The staff believe strongly that Kimbolton Lodge
is now her home and they act accordingly.

My mother resides in this care home, she is most happy there. The staff are wonderful and treat the residents with complete respect. When we visit we are always welcomed and usually get a cup of drink and homemade cake! They have a wonderful lady who does crafts, games etc. with residents to stimulate
them. All in all a fantastic place to live and visit.

My biggest complaint is length of time it takes to answer 'call bells' when I need help in the bathroom. (Not enough carers?)
Would like to say that the cleaner is excellent also the activities organiser.
Food varies.

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.853)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.853) out of 10 for Kimbolton Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.458 for Kimbolton Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.458
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.395 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kimbolton Lodge is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.27
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
