St David's looked after my Dad, with above outstanding love and compassion. He was very frail when he came in but the staff always managed to get him to smile and even share a joke. When Dad came to the end of his life, not only was he looked after amazingly, his pain and symptoms were managed, so he
could pass away peacefully and with dignity. Our family were treated with immense love and care and there was nothing the staff would not do for us. We are very, very, grateful.

St David's is welcoming and very well maintained. All members of staff and management do an excellent job, especially the carers. My mother has been a resident for 1 year and throughout this time, she has been assisted with all aspects of daily care. She is cared for with kindness, dignity and respect.
Visiting hours are unrestricted and whenever we visit the staff are very friendly and approachable. I know my mother is receiving the best care and I'm pleased she is happy and feels settled and safe.

I can not find fault with any aspect of the care received by my mother nor with the home itself. The atmosphere is warm, homely, caring and peaceful. I know that my mother is receiving the best care she could ever receive. The most outstanding feature is the staff and the owners. They are truly amazing.

My mother is cared for with kindness, patience and professionalism. Staff and management make every effort to make St David's a 'home from home', treating every resident as an individual and with respect.
St David's is situated in a beautiful and serene setting.
The home is kept clean and the grounds
are well tended. Our family was anxious to find a care home where Mum would be well cared for and kept safe. The team at St David's achieve this and give Mum the help and attention she requires, both day and night.
I am delighted that Mum has settled at St David's.

My Uncle lives with severe dementia and has been at St. David's since December 2017. He becomes agitated and upset when worried and is not always easy to care for. The staff at St David's are kindness itself. They look after him very well and provide a comfortable, calm and secure home for my Uncle.
He is as happy and content as he can be, given the depth of the confusion within him.

Unfortunately, my mother had to spend the last year of her life in a care home, as it was impossible for her to be cared for in her own home. We chose St David's after visiting a number of care homes in the surrounding area. St David's is a beautiful building set in wonderful grounds.

The care home

was spotlessly clean and all of the staff were genuinely caring and always treated mum with kindness, dignity and respect. They were happy to spend their time chatting with her and nothing seemed too much trouble. The nurses always kept us informed of her progress and in her final hours she was never left alone.

I always had total confidence in the management and staff at St David's and thank them for all the assistance they gave to both mum and myself.

I think this is the best care home around Berkshire. I have been in another Care Home and I didn’t feel happy there.
The staff and management are very friendly and always happy to help.

Mum's stay was short due to the nature of her illness and we were looking for the best possible comfort and end of life care. St David's had a lovely home from home friendly feeling from the moment we first visited. With beautiful Spring weather during her stay, we were able to take full advantage
of the wonderful grounds for as long as possible. The caring and kindness of everyone involved in looking after Mum was outstanding. In addition, the support and help provided to us, her family, was fantastic.

When my mother could not be cared for any longer at home the family had no hesitation in going to look around St. David's and as we had only heard good things about the care there we were not disappointed. As soon as we walked through the door we felt such a warm feeling. She was there about three years
and very happy as we were from management, carers, cooks, cleaners. They all put a hundred percent into their everyday work and treat residents with so much respect, love and care.

My two friends have been residents of St David's for over ten years. Throughout this time they have been extremely well cared for and treated with dignity and respect. All staff have shown them great kindness and made them feel safe and valued. Activities and outings are arranged on a regular basis
and they are always treated as individuals and not institutionalised. I would thoroughly recommend this care home.

The care home is set in beautiful grounds and all of the staff are caring and helpful. Excellent staff/resident ratio and the management is open to any feedback. The home is spotlessly clean. The cost of the care home is average for this area but expensive when compared to other parts of the country.

As Power of Attorney to my longstanding friend, I had the task of sourcing a suitable care home for her almost 2 years ago. St David's was slightly known to me at the time and has certainly proved an exceptional choice. The staff and management have provided highly professional and caring support to
residents, relatives and visitors. The proprietor should be commended for the high standards achieved at St David's Nursing Home.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.977)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.977) out of 10 for St David's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.977 for St David's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (256 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 262 Ratings = 4.977
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St David's Nursing Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
