This nursing home provides an excellent standard of care in all area but what makes St David's stand out is the genuine love and compassion shown to all residents by all the care and nursing staff. All residents are encouraged to be involved with activities including the bedbound residents. The meals are first class and a good variety. The home is a happy environment and is always clean and well kept.

My husband has been a resident here for the last 8 months and before that periodically for respite. He has lost his speech, is tube fed and doubly incontinent. He is so well looked after, they care for him in every possible way and his spirits are always high.

Dear Noreen, thank you for taking the time to make a comment. I will pass it onto the staff team. Best regards David

Good communication about mother's declining health and frequent updates by phone or in person. The care in her last days was gentle, kind and unhurried. All the staff were caring towards her and us. At the end, they were patient and compassionate. We were not rushed at all but encouraged to stay with her. I cannot fault the standard of care and compassion within the home.

I cannot fault the care and service provided by the staff at St David's. The quality of staff and care they provide is outstanding. I have a very good relationship with the key carers for my mother, who has been there for 5 years now. I like the fact that visiting hours are unrestricted so I can pop in any time knowing I can spend time with Mum.

There are drinks and snacks available to visitors which you can make yourself. If requested, you can join relatives in the dining room to eat or have something in their room. This makes a sometimes difficult and stressful atmosphere much easier to deal with. The home is always clean; the resident's rooms, general common areas, day rooms, bathrooms and conservatory etc.

St David's is a beautiful old priory filled with nostalgia but with all the facilities of a modern care home - set in stunning, peaceful grounds.

I feel very lucky to have been able to have my mother see out her days here. I can't recommend it high enough.

Review from Kitty B (Sister of Resident) published on 27 February 2017 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My sister has shown spectacular improvement since coming to reside at St David's Nursing Home. She is really happy.
I have been very impressed by the high standards maintained in all areas of this care home. The owners and their administrative staff are efficient, available, very considerate and prompt to attend to any manner of a request whether from a resident or from a family member.
Care staff are clearly well-trained and reflect that in their standard of care; helpful, cheerful, respectful and attentive to even trivial requests.

The happy atmosphere is evident throughout the home - it generates a pleasant feeling of family life.

St David's is a very caring home providing full support to my mother and her needs. We have often observed staff dealing in a very caring and supportive manner to residents even when they didn't know we were there or observing. The home is spotlessly clean and staff always go out of their way to help when we phone or want to speak to Mum.

After 2 years in a different home where I felt I had to 'guard' my mother, her time at St David's was entirely different and absolutely better in every way. I felt I could really trust the staff in all aspects of her care and they could not have done more. Kindness and consideration at all times. The manager and her team should be commended.

The care my mother received in her final days was exemplary. The room was very homely and the atmosphere relaxed. All staff were very friendly and they took time to make sure we were OK as well. The home itself is situated in beautiful grounds and my mother said she wished she had moved there years ago. The palliative care was very good, and I can honestly say I would highly recommend it.

Very interesting place to live, a wide variety of people work at St David's, so that now I am learning another language and I really like that as being in a care home is not the end. I have done so much here. I go on a lot of interesting trips, care and attention to residents is of a high standard. My family very much look forward to visiting me here.

Both my parent's moved into St. David's in November 2013, sharing a twin en-suite room. I knew of the quality of the home from family who had previously visited a resident there on a fairly regular basis. An earlier reviewer has gone into great detail about the high standards all round and I would echo those statements 100%. The only thing I would add is that my mother died in May this year: The end of life care she received (and the information and support we were given) was second to none.
