Lakeside Watermead Care Home

The staff at Lakeside have been amazing. The care and support given is exemplary! Staff welcomed Mum on her arrival and gave her respect throughout her stay. Mum sadly passed earlier this week and they were there to comfort her in her last hours. Thank you.

The manager and assistant manager plus the carers for my mum were very helpful, easy to approach and nothing was ever too much trouble for them to help my mum. A great team of carers on floor two at Lakeside.

The food is always good.

Absolutely agree with all that the previous reviewer said - such kindness, compassion, professionalism and with great humour too within a beautiful setting - to borrow my mum’s phrase “Look at my view”. Mum settled in straight away and spent the last 9 months of her life here (Dad had previously been in for respite). They cared for her brilliantly - and us too - becoming part of her family. Mum wasn’t straightforward as she had various medical problems including type 1 diabetes. We are so very grateful. Thank you, to the manager and all your amazing staff! We do miss visiting.

My father arrived at Lakeside Care Home in early January and very quickly settled in thanks to all the staff at Lakeside. Enjoying meals in the dining room with other residents and a few of the activities! Unfortunately, my father's health deteriorated and had to spend a lot of time in his room! The staff treated my father with kindness, dignity, compassion and care. Lakeside Care home is set on the edge of a beautiful lake with an abundance of wildlife to view from the gardens or balcony. The food choices are varied and tasty and the interior is clean and tastefully decorated! All of the staff are supportive caring and professional but also interact with the residents in a fun and friendly way.

It is such a relief that Mum has settled into Lakeside Care Centre so well. After 70 years of being in her own home, she had to face the prospect of leaving quite suddenly. Naturally, this was a very emotional time. However, the carers and staff at Lakeside have been wonderful. She is treated with care and dignity at all times. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the lake and being an early riser, she is still able to watch the sun come up which she always did at home. Nature and wildlife are important to her, so watching all the activity on the lake gives her joy. She enjoys the food and partakes in some of the activities even though she is a quiet person. Thank you to everyone at Lakeside for making this difficult journey so much easier for Mum.

I would not hesitate to recommend Lakeside to anyone considering a Care Home.

My mother has lived at Lakeside for eight and a half years. Throughout that time she has been happy and well looked after. The caring conscientious staff know her well and are always kind and supportive. Everyone is friendly and approachable. Nurses are always available to offer medical advice. The staff are dedicated and professional and work hard as a team to deliver the best possible caring environment. I have always been confident that Mum has received the best possible care. As well as looking after Mum, the lovely Lakeside staff have looked after me too. Mothe-in-law now lives there too.

My mother has been in Lakeside for over four years! We are very happy with her care. She loves her life there and we feel comforted knowing all her needs are met. The staff are caring and treat Mum with respect.

I can't thank the staff enough for the excellent care my Dad received in the last weeks of his life and for their kindness to me when he passed away.

My uncle has just spent the last couple of weeks of his life being cared for here. The home was warm and welcoming. The staff were not only very caring with my uncle but very supportive with our family. Nothing was ever too much trouble. He celebrated his birthday in the home and we were able to have tea and cakes for him in the lounge with the home making him a cake. I was most impressed.

Thank you so much for the care you all gave my friend in the last few weeks of her life. Every member of of staff were kind and patient and kept her comfortable and well cared for.

What a wonderful team of dedicated carers working at Lakeside. My mother had dementia and in the latter stages, so unable to perform any self-care. The staff at Lakeside were superb, not only in their daily routines but also it was apparent how much they cared for Mum emotionally. I cannot thank them enough. The Manager must also be commended in the way the care home is run, not only admin-wise but also in her obvious caring attitude. Thank you all so much.

Our mother was transferred from Stoke Mandeville Hospital to Lakeside in the middle of May 2018 after a sudden downturn in health. She received kindly and attentive end of life care at Lakeside, where she finally died. The staff were always very helpful and considerate and nothing was too much trouble for them, whether it was answering our phone calls to inquire about our mother's situation and any other questions. Most importantly, their care for our Mother was excellent and they did all that they could to ensure that she was as comfortable as possible. Lakeside has this ethos that all patients are part of a family, and that included my mother, although unfortunately, she wasn't really totally aware of things. We are very appreciative of the care my Mother received and would have no hesitation in recommending the Lakeside Nursing Home to others. Thank you so much.

Her room was cleaned and the floor mopped every day. The whole place smelt fresh and clean, other homes I visited were not so nice smelling. If I need to go into a nursing home in my later life, I'll be going to Lakeside.

I cannot speak too highly of this wonderful home from home.

All the staff are very polite.

The care Mum had was fantastic. Everyone was helpful and very caring. Nothing we asked for was too much. The care home was very clean and tidy. The nursing care Mum had was very good and I would like to thank every one of the staff for this. 10/10.

I stayed overnight a number of times and was always made welcome and never saw anything but exemplary standards of care.
