I came here just over a month ago, having lost of confidence in my body, and was fearful of the future. The staff here gave me back my confidence by listening to my carers and concerns and always providing me with what I need. This applies to the whole team! I am given nice food at set times, and the staff adjust my meals in relation to how I'm feeling (I am undergoing chemotherapy). It is great to have 24 hour nursing care who work as a team helping me to regain confidence.

She is wheelchair bound but there are carers who will move her around when required. She likes to be with others in the lounge although not often able to participate. Sometimes she is in her room but doesn't know why (short term memory very bad).
Sometimes she is also in bed but doesn't know why but it doesn't bother her.
I am always welcome and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

It is a very difficult decision for a family to make, but as soon as my Step Daughter viewed the home, she knew that this was the one for her father.
His room overlooked the lake which was very comforting for him as he loved nature and wildlife and made his time there all the more special and something that we will cherish.
The staff are extremely friendly and supportive, encouraging all the residents to participate in the many and varied activities that are organised for them.
The home is maintained to a very high standard and the quality of the meals and beautiful cakes are exceptional.
All staff and doctors are reactive, caring and responsive to the concerns a family might have about the welfare of their loved one and, as in our case, the compassion that was shown to both my husband his daughter and myself in his last few days was exemplary

It sounds trite or that I'm taking for granted the care and consideration mum has received at Lakeside. But it's rather that I've never had cause to be concerned at mum's care.
Mum is respected as an independent thinker. Her views are sought and acted upon. The care, which now includes FNC, is organised and delivered diligently, by highly trained and motivated staff. Mum's care plan is rigorously reviewed and maintained. Where there are questions, they are addressed.
Lakeside management and Directors have demonstrated their commitment to mum's best interests in the transition from mum being able to pay her own fees to her being a depleted funder who required local authority funding. It was the Lakeside management and directors who supported me in delivering mum's ability to stay in the place she calls home. Thankyou.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It means a great deal to us to know that your Mum feels respected and supported, and that her care has been delivered with diligence and compassion. Mom was received into Lakeside Care Home on the 8th of December 2023 and given a very nice room overlooking the lake. She sadly passed away on the 31st of December. In the short time that Mom resided at Lakeside, she was trusted with kindness, respect and attention to detail. As her daughter, it was very reassuring to know that Mom was being properly looked after. My husband and I were particularly struck by the home's friendly atmosphere and the staff's caring attitude. In conclusion, we trust that Lakeside Care Home's high standards will be maintained under its new ownership.

Absolutely agree with all that the previous reviewer said - such kindness, compassion, professionalism and with great humour too within a beautiful setting - to borrow my mum’s phrase “Look at my view”. Mum settled in straight away and spent the last 9 months of her life here (Dad had previously been in for respite). They cared for her brilliantly - and us too - becoming part of her family. Mum wasn’t straightforward as she had various medical problems including type 1 diabetes. We are so very grateful. Thank you, to the manager and all your amazing staff! We do miss visiting.
Your mum was just lovely and we were so pleased to be able to work closely with such a caring and compassionate family. Thank you for such a wonderful review. It means a great deal to be able to tell our staff how much they are appreciated.

My father arrived at Lakeside Care Home in early January and very quickly settled in thanks to all the staff at Lakeside. Enjoying meals in the dining room with other residents and a few of the activities! Unfortunately, my father's health deteriorated and had to spend a lot of time in his room! The staff treated my father with kindness, dignity, compassion and care. Lakeside Care home is set on the edge of a beautiful lake with an abundance of wildlife to view from the gardens or balcony. The food choices are varied and tasty and the interior is clean and tastefully decorated! All of the staff are supportive caring and professional but also interact with the residents in a fun and friendly way.
It was a real pleasure to look after your father, he was a lovely gentleman and it was sad that he was only here for such a short while. I will be sure to pass this on to the staff who cared for him and thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review.

It is such a relief that Mum has settled into Lakeside Care Centre so well. After 70 years of being in her own home, she had to face the prospect of leaving quite suddenly. Naturally, this was a very emotional time. However, the carers and staff at Lakeside have been wonderful. She is treated with care and dignity at all times. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the lake and being an early riser, she is still able to watch the sun come up which she always did at home. Nature and wildlife are important to her, so watching all the activity on the lake gives her joy. She enjoys the food and partakes in some of the activities even though she is a quiet person. Thank you to everyone at Lakeside for making this difficult journey so much easier for Mum.
We really do understand how difficult coming in to a care home is and it is lovely to know that your mum is getting so much pleasure from her view and that this has helped her to settle in so well. Thank you also for the kind comments about the staff, we certainly do have a great team here.

I've been the Care Manager at Lakeside at watermead care home since February 2025. I feel very lucky to have worked in health care for most of my adult life. Most of my career has been in the areas of mental health, learning disability, behaviour therapy, neurological care and rehabilitation as a Registered Nurse, before progressing to healthcare management. I have over 10 years’ experience within the care home sector, which for me has been the most rewarding of the healthcare specialities I have worked in.
I am passionate about enriching the lives of every resident we care for, and I know that at Lakeside at Watermead we deliver high quality care and experiences for our residents. My vision for Lakeside at Watermead Care Home includes constantly striving for the highest quality care possible, delivering activities to support good physical and mental health, serving nutritious and delicious food, creating a sociable community, and responding to every resident's individual needs and preferences, within a safe, homely environment.

My Name in Tracey, I have worked at Lakeside for nearly 27 years. Started as a Team leader in the home and did that for 18 years which I absolutely loved. During that time I support various departments within the home.
Then I moved permanently to become the activity coordinator, which I enjoy, to promote general health and wellbeing of the residents to provide and assist residents to access wide range of activities both group and 1:1 basis.
