Lakeside Care Home is located in Watermead Village, just under a mile from Aylesbury. Situated in 80 acres of parkland next to a wildlife lake, the home offers stunning countryside views throughout the year. The two lakes, connected by the river Thame, create a peaceful sanctuary for local wildlife. The home was carefully designed to cater to the needs of the elderly, with a focus on comfort and safety. It is fully wheelchair accessible and features two passenger lifts for easy navigation.

Lakeside Care Home is staffed by a carefully selected team of skilled nurses and caregivers, who are trained to deliver the specific level of care needed, whether it's Residential or Nursing care. The team is overseen by a highly qualified and experienced General Manager, who prioritises catering to the individual needs, preferences, and interests of each resident. In addition to the medical team, housekeeping, activities and catering staff ensure that residents enjoy all the comforts of home.

The team has so much to show you and would love to give you a tour of Lakeside Care Home, walk you through the wide range of facilities, address any questions you may have, and talk about your specific needs. To schedule an appointment, please get in touch.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I experienced constant attention from the moment I arrived from the professional nurses and management teams and the friendly and courteous carers. Carers who occasionally had to accept rudeness from some frustrated residents were particularly impressive. The food was particularly good, varied and cooked
to the highest standard and seemingly endless offering of drinks throughout the day. The care home was really well established in a very nice area and built to a high standard and kept up to date in functionality, equipment and cleanliness. It was very difficult if not impossible to fault anything to everyone concerned.

Review from Annette (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 August 2015 Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The staff here are wonderfully attentive, caring and treat my mother with such kindness and dignity. The food is excellent and varied and just the right amount for a smaller appetite. My mother's room is lovely, with a view of the lake, although (sadly) she takes little interest in what she can see.
It is managed extremely well and communication appears a strength.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.475)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.475) out of 10 for Lakeside Watermead Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.657 for Lakeside Watermead Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.657
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.818 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeside Watermead Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.8 = 0.918
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2025

I've been the Care Manager at Lakeside at watermead care home since February 2025. I feel very lucky to have worked in health care for most of my adult life. Most of my career has been in the areas of mental health, learning disability, behaviour therapy, neurological care and rehabilitation as a Registered Nurse, before progressing to healthcare management. I have over 10 years’ experience within the care home sector, which for me has been the most rewarding of the healthcare specialities I have worked in.

I am passionate about enriching the lives of every resident we care for, and I know that at Lakeside at Watermead we deliver high quality care and experiences for our residents. My vision for Lakeside at Watermead Care Home includes constantly striving for the highest quality care possible, delivering activities to support good physical and mental health, serving nutritious and delicious food, creating a sociable community, and responding to every resident's individual needs and preferences, within a safe, homely environment.
