A friendly, well run care home, which is looking after my mother with care, respect and dignity. We as a family feel confident mum is in the best place to help her in her later years when she can't look after herself anymore.

The manager was also very helpful in assisting us with the procedure/system of how to get mum into the care home.

Very daunting at first, but after a few days everyone was friendly and made me very welcome. Staff, carers, nurses were very kind and dedicated. Their attention was very caring, nothing was too much trouble, helping as much as possible. Very hard work. What they achieve is amazing.

Overall Experience

My mother was transferred to lakeside because of her failing mobility, health and weight. She was 97 and needed more intensive care generally. In the 6 months she was there she gained weight and seemed very happy. Mum passed away at the home 20-2-16, with the family around her for the last 36 hours. The care and dignity mum and the family were shown was outstanding. Nothing was to much trouble. Lakeside is a place where, after visiting your loved one, you come away feeling content and confident you are leaving them in good hands.

Overall Experience

On my first visit I was immediately impressed with the quality of welcome and readiness to be helpful without intrusion. Staff smiled as I passed them wherever they were working and readily responded if I had a query. All visits were the same. It was always a pleasure to visit my friend. I like the way that the majority of staff responded to my friends and her needs efficiently and respectfully. I also found management equally ready to respond to requests for information or action and felt that they genuinely were doing the best they could under any circumstances to deal with the situation in hand. This is a human nursing home.

Overall Experience

Mum has recently moved to Lakeside where she is extremely happy and content. She has a lovely comfortable room which has stunning views across the lake. She also has her own toilet/shower room attached. The family of staff are amazing, from the manager to the cleaners, chef and carers, everyone finding the time to make mum's stay as pleasant as possible - even calling the doctor in promptly when mum was poorly. Both mum and the other residents are looked after and supported well depending on their individual needs; the staff being good listeners, caring, friendly, patient and kind. There always seems to be different activities happening in the main lounge; it is a happy place. It is reassuring to know that mum is being so well looked after during her time here. If I become too old/infirm and unable to look after myself, then this is the type of nursing home that I would like to end up in. I would definitely recommend this home to others.

We moved mum to Lakeside recently from another care home. The setting is wonderful and mums room overlooks the lake .
The management set the tone that is cascaded throughout the whole team.

The facilities are excellent as are the staff. From the nursing team, carers and housekeeping team. The activities are greatly welcomed. Thank you everyone.

Overall Experience

I experienced constant attention from the moment I arrived from the professional nurses and management teams and the friendly and courteous carers. Carers who occasionally had to accept rudeness from some frustrated residents were particularly impressive. The food was particularly good, varied and cooked to the highest standard and seemingly endless offering of drinks throughout the day. The care home was really well established in a very nice area and built to a high standard and kept up to date in functionality, equipment and cleanliness. It was very difficult if not impossible to fault anything to everyone concerned.

The staff here are wonderfully attentive, caring and treat my mother with such kindness and dignity. The food is excellent and varied and just the right amount for a smaller appetite. My mother's room is lovely, with a view of the lake, although (sadly) she takes little interest in what she can see. It is managed extremely well and communication appears a strength.

I've been the Care Manager at Lakeside at watermead care home since February 2025. I feel very lucky to have worked in health care for most of my adult life. Most of my career has been in the areas of mental health, learning disability, behaviour therapy, neurological care and rehabilitation as a Registered Nurse, before progressing to healthcare management. I have over 10 years’ experience within the care home sector, which for me has been the most rewarding of the healthcare specialities I have worked in.

I am passionate about enriching the lives of every resident we care for, and I know that at Lakeside at Watermead we deliver high quality care and experiences for our residents. My vision for Lakeside at Watermead Care Home includes constantly striving for the highest quality care possible, delivering activities to support good physical and mental health, serving nutritious and delicious food, creating a sociable community, and responding to every resident's individual needs and preferences, within a safe, homely environment.
