Overall Experience

My mother went to Sunnyside Care Home after a long period in hospital. Although I personally didn’t select the home, I can’t express enough how delighted I was with every aspect of Mum’s care and development while she stayed there. I would recommend it on every level. Every member of staff was lovely. Kind and attentive. The senior staff members couldn’t have done more to help me with friendly, reassuring connective communication. The home was clean, welcoming, and my visiting was encouraged (subject to covid testing). Mum was encouraged to walk with help with the help of physios, and she spent time with other residents in the day room too. Food was of a high standard. A few of the meals she had, have now been requested back home! Mum is now home after 6 weeks at Sunnyside and continuing to thrive. I can’t thank Sunnyside Care Home enough for the caring and nurturing respite that Mum received. Nothing was too much trouble. A really excellent experience!

Sunnyside Nursing Home is a very well run establishment and the staff are extremely professional, caring, hardworking and friendly. From the secretary to the kitchen staff, down to the maintenance man. They work very well as a team, the nurses and carers are also fantastic, nothing is ever a problem. I can’t praise the staff any more, first class.

My Mum has only been here one week, so my experience is rather limited at the moment but from what I have seen so far, I am extremely impressed. This is the only home explored that would take Mum without 1:1 which suggested to me that it would be a much safer environment for her with the appropriate care and attention. So far I have not been disappointed. The girls are all absolutely lovely, from the manager to the carers, to the nurses to the kitchen staff - everybody has been so kind, reassuring and welcoming, not just to Mum but to me as well. There is such a lovely atmosphere in the home, so warm and friendly, physically and emotionally. I feel very comfortable here and totally reassured that it is the right place for Mum with her advanced dementia needs. The girls are all so caring and in fact, loving, to all the residents. I have found it all quite moving. Everybody is so hands-on with everything. I am really pleased and happy that Mum is in the care of Sunnyside.

You can call into this nursing home unannounced at any time which I did before Mum went into care and although they are always incredibly busy, nothing was any trouble to discuss things and still applies now. It is always spotless and so are the residents. Food is very good with a wide variety. Staff are always very kind to residents and there is always at least two staff in the room with the resident.

What can I say about Sunnyside Nursing Home? My mother went into Sunnyside in September 2016 on end of life care. The whole team were brilliant in nursing her back to reasonable health so she could go out every week on pre-arranged trips down the Thames at Windsor. She also loved their BBQs, Christmas parties and theme days.

The staff on so many occasions going that extra mile to keep a smile on her face. On her final stay in hospital, after doing a 12-hour shift, it was lovely to see 3-4 carers at a time, call in to see her before they went home. Sunnyside is very welcoming to visit, staff that always have a smile for all, very good at tea making and are generally lovely people.

Well done Sunnyside, you're the best. My mum loved you all.

My mother was a resident at Sunnyside for almost two and a half years. We visited her on numerous occasions during her stay, and were welcomed to do so at any time of the day or night. Unlike some other care homes, the residents are not left in their rooms ringing bells but are routinely encouraged to get dressed and be taken to the lounges. This means that the staff get to know the residents well and can anticipate their needs. In the last year or so there has been a focus on improving the activities for residents. Residents now enjoy trips out in a regular basis. I would hope that now these are underway, the home can focus on updating some of the furniture which is past it’s prime, maybe a better music system and certainly more newspapers. However, as far as the standard of nursing goes Sunnyside expects all its staff to be vigilant and caring and kind and me and my family's experience was that they achieve this very well.

During my husbands stay in Sunnyside he has been cared for to a high standard. Both the carers and nursing staff have been observant in noticing, treating and keeping me informed about sideline health issues, such as an unsightly wart growth on his ear, and a minor urinary infection.
He is kept in a clean and tidy condition and he appears to be content, spending his time in the lounge with other residents.
Sadly, because of the Alzheimers Disease from which he is suffering, he doesn't participate in activities but enjoys watching others.

The staff endeavour to talk with him as much as they are able and they all comment on his lovely smile, which indicates that he is content.

I was caring for my wife full time from 2002 till March 2016. She has complex care needs due to advanced secondary progressive MS, diabetes type 2 and various other issues. By the end of 2016 it became clear that she needed a permanent nursing home placement in order to ensure that her high level of care needs could continue to be met and that there would be qualified nurses readily available and involved in her care at all times. She was awarded Continuing Healthcare in February 2016 and a placement at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Iver, South Bucks was proposed. I had plenty of experience to draw upon as regards home care, hospital care and a variety of care homes providing respite care, and my initial impression of Sunnyside was a very favourable one. I was satisfied that this nursing home would be able to provide my wife with the kind of care that she needed and that the environment would be a congenial one. I was not disappointed.
