Amazing care home and care team, my mum was placed here a couple years ago and couldn't fault the care she has had and continues to get now. The whole team go above and beyond for their residents and mum always seems happy when I speck to her on the phone and visit when I can.

Even with my mum being in a specialist wheelchair Because of her disability, They still take her out shopping, take her to the pier for ice cream and donuts and throw karaoke parties for her birthday Which she loves. honestly never have worry about her not being cared for. The care home is always very clean and feels very homely and welcoming. The whole staff team are always polite and welcoming when I visit. Would highly recommend for anyone's loved ones!!!!

My mum was discharged to the Kingsgate from Colchester General. My mum is 90 years old and blind so I was naturally anxious about the transition.
However, this anxiety was soon laid to rest by the outstanding welcome and care mum received.
Every member of staff at the home from the manager, to office manager Tracy introduced themselves by name to mum and held her hand.
Mum interacted with several outstanding carers including Emma, Aaron and May. Mum is bedridden but was never on her own for long as staff did very regular checks.
Mum started to relax after the poor care she had received in hospital and with the excellent food started to improve.

Sadly mum has since had a stroke and is back in hospital but I will always remember mums time spent at the Kingsgate as a happy time.

Having picked this care home for Mum, the care she received was excellent. We felt safe knowing she was well looked after. The staff are welcoming and friendly, asking if we needed anything, seeing to Mum if she needed things done. The staff are excellent, from the cleaners to the manager. The home was always spotless. Although Mum was only there a short time, I have no problem recommending them if asked about it.

All of the staff at Kingsgate are amazing. I could not have asked for better care for my mum during her stay. They were extremely attentive and caring. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. The owner should be very proud of herself! My mum's final moments were made very special and very dignified. I can't thank them enough.

I cannot recommend Kingsgate highly enough! From the moment I met the team my family felt welcomed and cared for.

My mother was a resident for a few short weeks but during that time she was extremely well cared for as were me and my family. My mother's complex medical needs were overseen by the dedicated and experienced nursing team who looked after her so well.

All the different teams, managerial/admin, cleaning, catering and nursing staff, everyone in fact, were soo supportive and nothing was too much trouble.

I was encouraged to stay over whenever I wished and I always knew the whole team were just a phone call away to answer any questions.

The nursing home owner took particular care of my mother during her stay and sat with my mother at the end until I could get there.

In short if you are looking for a nursing home that is truly a home then Kingsgate is for you as it was quite literally the answer to our prayers.

I needed to put my wife into the care home as I had to have a minor op in hospital my wife did not particularly want to go into a home but knew she had to I was also worried that she may not get looked after as I would look after her. Still, once she was in we were both pleasantly surprised, the staff were absolutely fantastic and friendly. They coped with her disability with no problem, the food was absolutely lovely and she certainly wasn't coming out of there any thinner. I have got absolutely no problem if necessary for her to go back in there and she has no problems with going back in either. Both of us could not recommend it any higher. Thank you to all the staff in Kingsgate for making her stay very pleasant.

My Mum has been at Kingsgate for over 5 years now. She is well cared for and fed well and has her own nice room. Unfortunately, her Dementia is fairly advanced now so I am struggling a bit with it. Staff are always ready to give me advice or a well-needed hug. My mum has good and bad days but they always treat her with respect and care. I often recommend Kingsgate to people I know. The manager is very approachable and always ready to help and do whatever I feel will help Mum. There is a nice choice of activities available if they want to participate. On the whole, I am very happy with Mum being there and feel like we're one big family.

There was a time that every time we brought Mum back she would tell us how she hated it there, she would have bruises nobody saw and was not happy, but now after a change of staff, she's happy to go back, and instead of calling it "that' place" she calls it home! It's clear to see the staff are happier, and there is an atmosphere of calm and togetherness. I always felt the staff walked on eggshells under the old management but not now, it's very clear the staff loves and cares for Mum and we are very grateful. I have only one regret and that is not fitting Mum with a nanny cam... back when Dad was alive, but onwards and upwards. The manager is amazing and has turned the place around brilliantly.

Mum had been a resident at Kingsgate for almost four years, since being there, she has had nothing but the best of care. Every one of their staff members treats the residents with care and compassion. They have fun activities for the residents that are able which Mum was for a short period of time.

In Mum's last days of life, the staff at the home were very accommodating, caring and respectful of our time with her. During the night they would bring us tea and snacks to keep us going and were always on hand to answer questions or concerns. The emotions from all of the staff on Mum's passing truly showed how much they cared for her, it felt like she was part of their family. We are so grateful that Mum had a safe and caring place to be at the end of her life, words cannot express our gratitude to the staff at Kingsgate.

My father is a long term resident of Kingsgate, he has been there for a number of years and I can honestly say that I have no issues whatsoever with the facility, it's staff or the service and high standard of care that they provide. I know that my father is extremely well cared for, the team at Kingsgate are so friendly and professional, they go out of their way for him, they meet all his needs and he is very happy there. The home is very, very clean, spotless and everything is of a good standard. He likes the home, the location, the communal areas and garden, he also enjoys the food and the activities. He is happy with his personal room too. He has a very spacious and spotlessly clean en suite room, with a colour HDTV, plus a high quality and comfortable air bed, his sheets, clothing and linen are always clean. Personally, I can't fault Kingsgate, they have always exceeded expectations and cared for my father with professionalism, love and dignity. Five stars all round. Thank you Kingsgate.

My mum has lived at Kingsgate for over two years. It is a joy to visit Mum and see her so happy, calm and content with her life. It feels like one big happy family at Kingsgate. Mum is so loved and cared for, which has been such a comfort to myself and all Mum's family and friends, especially in the challenging times we have all experienced because of the pandemic. Her needs - physical, emotional, social and spiritual - are more than met. I feel the staff really know my mum. I can tell by the way Mum smiles and interacts with all the staff that she feels safe and secure. I always leave feeling happy whenever I have visited Mum, knowing she is well and happy.

As a family member, I also feel cared for and well supported by the staff at Kingsgate which is so important. There is a 'can do' attitude and a willingness to work together for the benefit of Mum.

Central and convenient for outings and shopping, Kingsgate is a bright and cheerful community. There are a variety of nicely furnished communal rooms where residents chat and take part in all sorts of activities - Mum likes quizzes. The activity staff seem to be fun-loving and very creative. Care staff are lovely - kind, caring and efficient, always with a smile and a friendly word as they go about their support tasks. Mum likes the food and her bright, airy room - which staff have helped make homely by installing some of her own furniture and hanging pictures for her. Family can visit in her room but there is a well organised and homely visitors' room too. Having nursing care included is very reassuring. Kingsgate appears very firmly managed and feels safe and secure.
