Longmead Court Nursing Home is located in the village of Black Notley, in Essex situated between the towns of Braintree and Chelmsford.

Many of the rooms offer a toilet and wash basin within a sectioned off room within. Other residents have access to several communal toilets, shower rooms and bathrooms throughout the building.

The home has two floors and the first floor can be accessed by the lift or stairs.

Rooms can be decorated to suit individuals' personal preferences and the home encourages residents to bring furniture and photos to make the room personal to them and as homely as possible.

Residents can enjoy the pleasant spaces and areas created throughout the home such as the music area, conservatory, sensory wall, history wall, memory lane wall, under the sea room with fish tanks, music and waves! as well as join in the communal areas in the large dining area and lounges. The home is also looking forward to the development of a small library/quiet area and cinema, offering further opportunities to the residents residing in the home.

The activities co-ordinator offers a varied programme of activities in and outside the home for individuals to enjoy, these can be conducted on a one to one basis also, tailored for individuals preferences. The home has regular visits from the local school children, Church members, PAT therapy dogs and musical entertainment.

Staff are also on hand to help each and every resident to continue to pursue their hobbies and interests.

Longmead Court also has a hairdresser who makes fortnightly visits to the home as well as the visiting Chiropodist who attends every six weeks.

Residents can enjoy a balanced and varied diet at the home, all preferences and dietary requirements can be met by the fantastic Kitchen Team.

The fee of £1,500 per week is our standard fee for residential and nursing care. Any required one to one support for external appointments would be in addition to the weekly fee and invoiced at £20 per hour.
This fee will cover all aspects of care, either nursing or residential, there are no bills other than any personal appointments such as the visiting chiropodist and hairdresser.
All in house activities are also included in the weekly fee such as arts and crafts, movie afternoons, games, visiting entertainers, the visiting PAT dogs as examples.

This is the first time we have had the opportunity to visit my mother in law at Longmead . We were very impressed with the community feel at Longmead and how well my mother in law had settled into her new 'home' . All the staff are commendable from the reception, the nurses , assistant carers and the
catering staff ( excellent food ) . Multiple 'home' visits from NHS made medical care and appointments very easy . My mother in laws room was kept very clean and small touches from her old 'home' made her room welcoming. Thanks again to ALL the staff for caring for my mother in law with dignity, efficiency and most importantly with a smile .

Mum spend a short period of time at you're care home. I would love to commend the staff at this place they were polite , friendly, caring and attentative. They could not of done any more. Rooms were cleaned throughly. All staff were exceptional including management. 10 out of 10 service. Job well

we moved my father here after being refused admission to his previous home after a hospital stay. The staff were friendly and supportive and within a short time he was happy and settled. His care needs were exceptionally dealt with and i was kept fully informed of any changes. As my father declined

My husband was admitted to Longmead Court Nursing Home from another medical facility for end-of-life care. I was anxious about the care he would receive as I'd had no choice in the placement. However, I quickly realised my concerns were unfounded. From his reception to his passing, he received dedicated
care, as I have never witnessed before. The compassion and nursing skills combined allowed him to end his life peacefully and comfortably.

My mother was admitted to Longmead in March 2023 after a very stressful 3 weeks in hospital after a fall. The treatment she received once she arrived at the home, was excellent. She was dealt with in a very caring manner and all the staff are always helpful and friendly when you visit.

I write this review soon after my husband of 54 years has died following inoperable brain tumours. Life at the end was as good as it could be, thanks to the staff at Longmead Court. He was welcomed to Longmead from hospital, a very ill and unhappy man. The nursing staff instinctively knew how to talk
to him and put him at ease, explaining what they needed to do and how they would care for him. He had hated being in hospital and this felt like a sanctuary to us both. He could be challenging but they saw through this to the man behind the brain tumour and gave him just incredible, respectful loving care. His bright sunny room became our home for the last 6 weeks. All the staff, from the caring admin staff, nurses, care staff and the cleaning, catering and ancillary staff could not have been more friendly and helpful to me and my family. They were careful to support us too, we felt we could talk to them about any worries and fears. Amazing committed people!

My wife was transferred here from the hospital after a hemiarthroplasty of a broken hip, successful but ruined by too-early discharge. In Longmead she needed dementia care and palliative wound care. Both were provided by a competent staff of nurses and carers very well.

Our dad was placed in Longmead Court 3 weeks ago it was the only care home which would take him from the hospital. We are both so grateful to you. Our dad was cared for so well, 24 hour care one on one. The staff were absolutely amazing, gentle and caring. Our dad passed away with dignity and comfort

We can't praise the staff of Longmead Court highly enough for the excellent care they are providing for my mother. They are all very special people. They do their best to bring my mother suitable food - and, although she struggles to eat, everything is well cooked and tasty, and we are delighted with

The team at Longmead provided professional, personalised and thoughtful care to my lovely nanny and us as a family throughout her stay and through her passing. We considered moving Nan to a closer home (that was also significantly less costly) however she was so comfortable at Longmead and we were so
happy with the care that we decided to have her stay and we’re so pleased we did. The end-of-life care and consideration was exceptional. The genuine, authentic extra care and kindness was unexpected and made what has been the most sad time a little more tolerable. Words can’t actually explain the difference the team made and we will be forever grateful. Thank you to every single person from the Longmead team who extended such kindness to the nanny and to us. We appreciate each and every one of you.

Nicky has worked in care homes as a Registered Manager and also held portfolios of up to 9 homes as an Area Manager working across Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Southampton.


Nicky has spent over 15 years in a Regional Manager's role working in Learning Disabilities care homes as well as Nursing homes for older adults.


Nicky joined us in January 2024 as Operations Director.
