Longmead Court Nursing Home is located in the village of Black Notley, in Essex situated between the towns of Braintree and Chelmsford.

Many of the rooms offer a toilet and wash basin within a sectioned off room within. Other residents have access to several communal toilets, shower rooms and bathrooms throughout the building.

The home has two floors and the first floor can be accessed by the lift or stairs.

Rooms can be decorated to suit individuals' personal preferences and the home encourages residents to bring furniture and photos to make the room personal to them and as homely as possible.

Residents can enjoy the pleasant spaces and areas created throughout the home such as the music area, conservatory, sensory wall, history wall, memory lane wall, under the sea room with fish tanks, music and waves! as well as join in the communal areas in the large dining area and lounges. The home is also looking forward to the development of a small library/quiet area and cinema, offering further opportunities to the residents residing in the home.

The activities co-ordinator offers a varied programme of activities in and outside the home for individuals to enjoy, these can be conducted on a one to one basis also, tailored for individuals preferences. The home has regular visits from the local school children, Church members, PAT therapy dogs and musical entertainment.

Staff are also on hand to help each and every resident to continue to pursue their hobbies and interests.

Longmead Court also has a hairdresser who makes fortnightly visits to the home as well as the visiting Chiropodist who attends every six weeks.

Residents can enjoy a balanced and varied diet at the home, all preferences and dietary requirements can be met by the fantastic Kitchen Team.

The fee of £1,500 per week is our standard fee for residential and nursing care. Any required one to one support for external appointments would be in addition to the weekly fee and invoiced at £20 per hour.
This fee will cover all aspects of care, either nursing or residential, there are no bills other than any personal appointments such as the visiting chiropodist and hairdresser.
All in house activities are also included in the weekly fee such as arts and crafts, movie afternoons, games, visiting entertainers, the visiting PAT dogs as examples.

My visit to this care home was met with very helpful staff, there was always a member of staff on hand to help in any way. The atmosphere was cheerful and welcoming, nice and clean and smelled fresh. Not like the usual experience I have encountered before in some nursing homes.

Our experience of Longmead has been a happy one for our mother. Everyone is friendly and approachable. A clean and homely feel to the rooms. We could also ask the staff any questions at any time and nothing was too much trouble. The food was good and the care was excellent.

I find the staff very helpful and caring. Any problems they ring to inform us to keep us in touch. My mother's room is well-decorated and always clean. Mum is always up and dressed and nearly always in one of the Day Rooms.

My dad was only at Longmead Court for a short time having been discharged from hospital. All of my dealings with this care home in this time were first class and very professional. Dad had a pleasant room with a nice view and was cared for well. It's quite daunting to choose a care home for your loved
one I would have no hesitation in recommending Longmead Court.

I am very satisfied with the way my husband is looked after. The carers are very good as are the management, who always inform you if there are any concerns. I have no complaints with the home and would recommend it on all aspects.

My wife has been resident at Longmead Court for nearly four years. During all of that time, she has been happy and calm, receiving care that is totally appropriate for her life in the best way possible. The care staff, domestic staff and management show genuine care and empathy with her and her condition
and also with myself. This has been emphasised through the current COVID crisis and I cannot thank them enough.

I am extremely disappointed with Longmead Court. I and my family have many concerns that the home does not seem to want to address. I do not deny that the care provided by the nurses and other staff is good and the residents are certainly treated well by them, however, there appears to be little communication
between the care staff and management. And when problems arise nothing seems to get done. My father had spent some time in the hospital and there was poor communication from the home, resulting in the hospital being unsure as to who was the first contact and next of kin. It appears that my father was allowed to leave the residence with another two family members during the lockdown and I find this completely risky and unacceptable.

We are really sorry that you feel our management has not been able to resolve the issue raised in relation to your Father. Our first and foremost responsibility is always to our residents and, as explained, we have to remain impartial in situations where the next of kin is disputed until an external judgement has been reached. Which is why we recommended you raise the situation as a safeguarding issue with the relevant authorities, in addition to which we have ourselves raised the issue with the funding authority.
We can, however, confirm categorically that your Father has never left the home during lockdown except for his hospital stay and that this complied fully with all regulatory, care and safety requirements.

Originally, we were concerned about residential care for my mother for a number of reasons, but Longmead was recommended to us and has certainly proved to be the best place for her. She is well cared for and happy and we have no worries about her safety as we did when she was still in her own home,
even though she had live-in care. She is clean, warm, well-fed and takes part enthusiastically in the activities on offer. We could not be more pleased that she has settled so well.

I cannot praise highly enough the care and attention that my parents have received whilst they have been resident at Longmead.
My mother has been a resident for 2 years, she suffers from Vascular Dementia and is in her eighties. As a family we feel that she is in the best place, she is safe and secure
and well looked after. There are regular visits from GP's, opticians and in her case the local church.
My father, who passed away last year, was also a resident and during his final months he was made as comfortable as possible and it was very apparent the bond between him and the staff was very strong. The individual care that both of my parents have received has been first class.
The staff are very supportive, they genuinely care for the residents in their care.
Visiting has never proved a problem and actively encouraged.
There are local trips out and there is entertainment on a regular basis.
As a family, we are very happy with the service that Longmead supply.

Nicky has worked in care homes as a Registered Manager and also held portfolios of up to 9 homes as an Area Manager working across Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Southampton.


Nicky has spent over 15 years in a Regional Manager's role working in Learning Disabilities care homes as well as Nursing homes for older adults.


Nicky joined us in January 2024 as Operations Director.
