I have been here about a year. I have a lovely bright sunny room. Which is kept clean for me. I have all my meals and snacks done for me. The staff are wonderful and kind and take great care of me, everyone is so caring and I enjoy laughing with them when they come to my room

Alverstoke House Care home provided a above excellent nursing care for my very poorly mother. They treated her with dignity and thoughtful care. All of the staff conducted their duties to a very high standard. She was offered alternatives to the daily general menu, way beyond any expectations, nothing was too much trouble. Mum only spent 4 weeks there before passing but she felt safe and loved. Family and friends that visited were made very welcome.

This remarkable team of people at Alverstoke Nursing Home should be praised for their dedication, they all went above and beyond to give both our treasured Mum, and our family the best possible care.
Mum and the family were offered a place of dignity and safety at Alverstoke Nursing Home where we all felt welcome and part of the warm community they have built. A place where Mum could still feel very connected to her family and friends, and somewhere where we could comfort her too right up until the end. The team gave us the greatest gift of being able to spend those few months and precious last couple of days and moments with their support of being close to Mum, and I know that if she was here now, she would agree as family was everything to Mum.

There are so many things they didn't have to do from gently combing her hair after Mum was moved, to constant reassurance, to the ice cream she loved, to the care they took after she passed the list goes on.

Reply from Andrew Hudson, Director at Alverstoke House

Thank you so much for a lovely review. Our team work extremely hard to provide the best person-centred care and will be delighted that both your Mum and your family felt she was getting great care and I will pass on the praise you have offered to all of them. Many thanks again.

Alverstoke House stepped in and offered a room for my father when he was discharged from hospital without a care package and I was out of the country. They were able to settle and care for him until his house was prepared for his return. Staff were lovely and supportive and always friendly. My only negative would be that despite labelling, his trousers tended to go for laundry and were not seen again... But this was a minor that was made up for by the care and respect he received. It would have been nice if his room was en suite, but this was managed well and helped to ensure Dad had to move and not just sit in a chair isolated in his room... Overall, we are both very satisfied by the standard of care afforded to Dad when he really needed it - I thank the staff and are happy to recommend Alverstoke House to any prospective customers. Thank you for being there when we really needed you.

This is the second time my sister and I have used Alverstoke House for respite care for our elderly mother. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and the managers in particular were extremely helpful on both occasions in arranging this at short notice for us. The staff were kind and caring, and we were very happy that she was being safely looked after. Mum settled in quite quickly: she enjoyed the food and liked to sit in the conservatory watching the birds and passersby. We would certainly use the Home again and would be happy to recommend it.

Overall Experience
When approached, Alverstoke House management was immediately interested in and working to accommodate my wife's needs. With a minimum of involvement on my part, she was transferred from the hospital to the home just before Christmas. Her dementia was increasingly active. Her refusal to eat was recognised and sensitively responded to by the care staff.
Subsequently, her situation became increasingly restricted. Her ability to move was limited and mentally she was increasingly lacking. It was recognised that she was at 'end of life'. Nevertheless, her daily routine of clothes changes and personal hygiene were maintained to a high standard.
My son and I were encouraged to be with her whenever we wished and were able to visit her throughout her time at the home. The nursing staff were very approachable and supported us during a difficult time.

My thanks to them all.

I can't say enough good things about Alverstoke House Nursing Home and the incredible team there.
From the moment my father was admitted he was greeted with warmth and given the best care.

The quality of the care given to my father up to the day he died was truly outstanding.

A very welcoming atmosphere coupled with a professional approach from staff. Food was very good, flexible choices and presented well. Residents' clothing was washed and ironed and returned in an excellent manner.

As a relative I was always made welcome, particularly by the main staff group, although sometimes it was difficult to obtain information from senior staff, as they were very office-bound. I did feel that agency staff particularly at weekends were largely left unsupervised.

My mother-in-law moved into the Alverstoke House Nursing Home in January 2023 until she passed away on 5 June 2024. The care she had was of a very high quality. All her needs were met, and she was treated with respect and dignity at all times. All of the staff were very kind and caring, this extended to myself and brother. I would recommend this nursing home to anyone needing care, they were excellent.

My mum had a warm and welcoming new home when moving into Alverstoke House Nursing Home in March 2022. For your parent with dementia to go into a nursing home is not an easy time. The staff were supportive of not only settling my mum with the fantastic activities programme but to involving the family in supporting us throughout the two years. The most wonderful kindness and care from all the staff when the time was upon us for palliative care; we are very grateful to all the staff where my mum had quality of life and loved socialising with residents and staff making new and loving memories, always putting my mum first.

The carers in the home are very welcoming and always have time to answer any problems or concerns I have regarding my sister, it is like a home from home, they always have the residents' best interest at heart, treating them with the care and attention they deserve and I would highly recommend the home to anybody who has to consider a family member or others having to go into a warm, friendly environment.

Mum was a resident from October 2021 until her recent passing and was very happy there. I looked at many homes and this one stood out.
The carers, nurses and staff are lovely and she was very well looked after. She was quite particular about things and they all did their best to accommodate her needs. There is always some sort of entertainment and the team goes above and beyond, especially with their themed events. They were so caring to Mum and myself in her last week and I will always be grateful for that.

I would definitely recommend this care home to anyone.
