Alverstoke House is a purpose built, family run nursing home specialising in Caring for the Elderly who have complex nursing care needs. They also specialise in terminal care and provide care for those needing nursing after leaving hospital before returning home.

Situated in Alverstoke Village and adjacent to Stokes Bay, Alverstoke House offers the most modern Fire Protection and Nurse Call Sytems, together with passenger lifts with wheelchair facility. They have built up an excellent reputation in the Alverstoke Area, working closely with the hospitals, GP's surgerys and other health professionals.

Thirty beds which are mostly en-suite, two sitting rooms, a dining room and two conservatories. The gardens overlook a Koi Carp Pond and have a landscaped area to the rear where residents and their visitors often have tea. Meals are home cooked using fresh produce to provide a nutritious and balanced menu. Individual requirements and special diets are catered for.

They operate an open door policy for visits of family and friends and welcome visits from any clients or their family who are thinking of coming to Alverstoke House. They welcome clients for a trial period and have a non smoking policy within the home, though do not accommodate pets.

Members of the Registered Nursing Home Association and use the Blue Cross Mark of Excellence Quality Assurance System.

My mother entered Alverstoke House at the beginning of September as she had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and was also suffering from heart failure. From day one she was treated as part of the family and every single member of staff would take time out to spend time with Mum and every
aspect of her care was done with care and understanding. Unfortunately, Mum's illness progressed very swiftly, and after a short stay in hospital after a fall and heart attack, she returned to Alverstoke House for ongoing care. Again, they treated Mum so gently and always asked her permission before carrying out any treatment. Mum deteriorated quickly and we were called to the home. When there we were treated so kindly and were allowed to stay with Mum to the end, the staff cared for us as well as Mum and we will be forever grateful for the care and compassion showed to Mum and my family through this very difficult time.

My mother has been a resident for the past two and a half years. When she arrives, she has a grade four pressure sore, which I was told would never heal, and she would only be able to sit out of bed for one hour per day. But thanks to the wonderful care and attention she has received, it has completely
healed, and she can sit out and join in activities as much as she pleases. Thanks to the fantastic food, her diet has completely changed for the better. The range of activities is outstanding too.

My mum has lived at Alverstoke House for the last two years and has been happy. The staff are kind and professional and have really got to know mum, her likes and dislikes, her medical needs as well as a bit about her as a person. Mum particularly enjoys good food and the various activities provided.
She enjoys being able to go out into the garden or sit by the pond.
On the few occasions that mum has needed extra care (a trip to the hospital for example), this has been organised and mum has received great care from the staff.
As a relative, I have always felt welcome and have got to know some of the staff. I live some distance away but am happy that mum is safe, warm and well cared for.

Mum is 94, and after much consideration, she decided she needed to go into care. Alverstoke House is a small family-run home, and it has been wonderful. She was depressed, not eating properly and quite weak physically when she made the decision. What a difference. The staff have become family, she is
eating and thoroughly enjoying her food (and Mum has been a very picky eater in the past), taking part in activities put on by the staff and making friends. She is looked after day and night by wonderful staff under the personal supervision of a caring owner. We couldn't have chosen anywhere better for Mum to stay. Thank you all.

It was a place Dad called home. It is spotlessly clean and has a welcoming, friendly and relaxed atmosphere created by cheerful, kind and compassionate staff. He always enjoyed his light and airy room with its views of The Spinnaker. He was always impressed with his daily personal care, often carried
out by excellent young staff, a very tough job at that age. In the last days, Dad received continuous 24-hour monitoring when a senior nurse held his hand at his passing, unfortunately, I could not be there at the end.
My family and I will always be indebted for the excellent care Dad received from the wonderful staff, many working there in excess of 10 years and some in excess of 30 years, exceptional for the caring sector, pointing to very good management to retain them with smiling faces for so long. The home is also just a 10min walk pushing a wheelchair to a beach cafe, a place where Dad enjoyed a piece of cake, a cup of tea and the bustle of the seaside and its views.

What a wonderful home, with top class expert care to all residents.
My mum was admitted from hospital as she was too ill to go home after heart surgery.
She was only with the home for 3 months, till May 4th 2018, but the care she received till the sad end was the care I would like to see all people
receive.
Thanks to all the staff at the home. I would not hesitate to recommend this home. From my brother and myself.

My husband spent the last eighteen months of his life at Alverstoke House, transferring there from hospital having been diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. The care of both of us during this difficult time has been amazing and even through his most difficult times, my husband was treated with
courtesy and dignity and a great deal of affection. He was happy there and I was able to spend several hours there with him every day, including having a meal there. I and other visitors had use of a kitchen and we could make drinks whenever we needed.
I could not have looked after him so well at home and am so glad Alverstoke House was our 'home from home' for the last eighteen months.
I would like to thank and commend every one of the staff there from the owner, management, nurses, carers and housekeeping. You have made the last eighteen months livable, through one of the hardest times of our life.

We can't thank enough the wonderful staff at Alverstoke House, they looked after my dad during the last 7 months of his life. Dad was so happy there. he was so poorly but never felt he was a bother to them. Our family thank them all.

My mother suffered from Motor Neuron Disease, the staff of Alverstoke House were incredible. Their levels of care and compassion went well beyond anything I or the family could have hoped for. The place was always spotless, the food excellent and personal and hygienic care was always exemplary. The
care offered was constantly adjusted to help Mum enjoy the maximum positivity she could with such a difficult and degenerative condition. There could be no better endorsement of the care than by Mum herself 'this is my home, I feel loved here'. It is always difficult to see a loved one have to enter nursing care, Alverstocke House is a fine establishment.

We have experienced excellent care by all the staff in the home. They are kind and considerate and work as a team.
There is a high standard of nursing care and a desire to have the best medical treatment and specialist equipment possible.
The residents are encouraged to join in activities and to use
the facilities but are not put under any pressure to do so.
The management has created cheerful surroundings both inside with a comfortable lounge and conservatory and outside garden and pond area.
The atmosphere in the home is friendly and homely. Relatives and friends can visit at any time and made to feel welcome. It is an excellent care home.

My mother always describes the staff as kind and friendly. The atmosphere in the home is happy. All the staff are happy to talk to me when I visit and are very friendly. My mother is always dressed with care and always looks well cared for. The whole home is immaculately clean with towels and clothes
cleaned every day. My mother is washed or bathed every day. When I visit I am always given a hot drink at the same time as my mother is given one. Cakes are also provided as is lunch if I want it.

This was a perfect home for my mother. It allowed her to have her freedom & independence which was very important. She was also very lucky to have met a couple of dear old ladies who kept her company on her short walks and dinner time. The staff were extremely kind and caring at all times and always
had the extra five minutes for a chat.
Sadly my mother has recently passed away but she was allowed to do so with great dignity & consideration which was so important to us as a family.
