We met the Resident Liaison Manager on our visit to this care home. She was the first person we'd seen at a care home that asked about Mum and the care she needed and made sure they had the facilities and could meet her needs as she needed special care for an NG tube. We left our visit knowing we had
found the perfect place. Everything felt so right. They made Mum so welcome on her first day, even moved the room round and found an electric recliner chair which we placed by the window with view to the garden. They really cared and made Mum and our family very welcome. Mum said that she was not used to such first-class service from everyone she came into contact with. Which made us happy also as it was end of life care. They made sure she was always comfortable. It is a lovely care home everyone is friendly caring and helpful from the management, nurses, careers and kitchen staff. My wife and I are so grateful and could not thank them enough for the love, care, and respect they gave her.
Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at New Forest Nursing HomeHello, I am so sorry for your loss. It is so very kind of you to write on our behalf during this sad time. Whilst I was very grateful for the speedy assessment and availability of a bed, this was not the best placement for my mother who did not respond well. The staff are lovely, friendly and caring and the welcome at reception was lovely.
The constant call of bells for help was irritating both for the
resident and visitors and it might be worth considering the use of a pager system to alert staff members that residents are seeking help.
The activities provided were varied but sadly my mother chose not to engage.
Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at New Forest Nursing HomeHello,
Thank you very much for your feedback. I am always delighted to read about how and when we get the service levels right for everyone but also it's really helpful to learn where we can improve. Your comment regarding the call bell system and its overall intrusion into residents' enjoyment will lead us to investigate our options and how we may reduce the intrusion. Thank you. I hope your mum is happy where she now is living. My very best wishes to you and your family cheers.

My family were a bit worried about Mum going into a nursing home as we really wanted her to be at home. We had nothing to worry about from the first day the staff welcomed us and provided exemplary care and support to both Mum and us. They were compassionate and professional and nothing was too much
trouble. Although Mum was bed-bound if she wasn't, the setting, grounds and location provide a tranquil place for residents and family. I cannot recommend this home enough.
Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at New Forest Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I am so delighted to read that you and your family all felt welcome and well looked after. I think New Forest NH is the most beautiful space, the trees, the gardens, the look and feel of the house itself, all contribute to the sense of tranquillity. However, it is the warmth of my colleagues in the home that really top it all off. They will all share my joy in reading your comments, many thanks.

My mum went into the home last October for palliative care; she also had dementia, and she had a lovely room and liked to stay in it; we did take her to the quiet room once or twice.
My sister and I liked all the staff and got on well - we were rung up if anything was wrong and kept informed right
till the end. They have parties and plenty of things going on.

Thanks to the wonderful carers and nurses and a big thanks to the chef (most wonderful chef) for delivering a terrific menu to suit each resident. The team always work so hard to keep the home looking perfect. The lady at reception always has a happy face, making people feel welcome and part of the
family. And the ladies that do activities bring smiles and laughter to the residents but thanks to the man without whom the residents wouldn't be able to go out and about and is wonderful with them. Last of all a big thanks to the maintenance guys, who are always friendly to the residents and make a big effort. It's in a big beautiful setting, just like my dad wanted to live in. He is at his happiest when in the garden.

My sister and I cannot praise New Forest Nursing Home enough for the care, attention and respect given to our mother in the three months she was there. Wonderful, friendly staff, lovely room and facilities and always clean. We were always made welcome when we visited and were kept informed of any issues.
Mother was comfortable and contented and most importantly, safe. We are so grateful.

My mum is unable to stand so is bed or chair bound. She is reluctant to leave her room and socialise, so the care home encourages one of the other lady residents to visit Mum in her room so they can chat, which is a lovely idea. I think she could be encouraged out of her room more if there were more
outside areas she could access. The home is set in lovely grounds, but the pathways are limited and short and most of the residents have limited mobility or are in wheelchairs, so investment into accessibility is needed. Staff are friendly and helpful, but do seem to be short staffed at times. Due to Mum's inability to move on her own, she does need to use the call button at times, this isn't always well received due to staffing levels. They have a weekly minibus ride out to local tearooms, the beach and etc. along with daily activities. They have even had a pony visit residents in their rooms, Mum loved this and hasn't stopped talking about it. Mum gets lonely, but feels safe and cared for.
Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at New Forest Nursing HomeHello. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I note your positive comment regarding the lady residents' visits with your mum, thank you. I have taken onboard your comments about longer pathways and greater accessibility. I will ask our Asset Manager and Regional Manager to have a look at how we can improve this, thank you. I also note the scores of three for Food and Drink and Cleanliness which are disappointing, so we'll investigate those and improve them for everyone's benefit. Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention. I am pleased however your mum feels safe and cared for, that's very important to all of us. Thank you again for your review, with my best wishes, Helen.

My mother came to the nursing home in October 2021 for palliative care. In the three months she was there, until her death, she was happy, joyful and, most importantly, not scared. She loved all the staff and received the most wonderful care. When my father became too infirm to stay in his home, knowing
how well my mother had been cared for, we chose to place him in the same nursing home. As with my mother, his care has been exemplary. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and inviting. I cannot recommend this place more highly. Thank you.

Our aunt has been at the home for seven months. We visit regularly and find the staff helpful and friendly, especially the receptionist staff.
She is well cared for and receives excellent nursing and support. There is always a cup of tea on hand when she asks for it. That means a lot to her as she
cannot leave her room and loves her tea.
The trained staff always ring us if there is anything to tell us. We find that extremely helpful and takes the worry away.
Thanks to all. We would recommend New Forest Nursing Home.

Thank you to all of the staff. My 89-year-old stepmother moved in in October 2022 in poor health. Six months on with regular taking of meds, good food and care she has a new lease of life. She has no mobility now but always sees people for care and meals etc. This would never happen alone at home. Again

My mother was in residential care at the home from November 2021 until her death on 1st September. During this time I was visiting the care home several times a week. Overall I am pleased with the care and support that my mother received. The staff were kind and capable in the interactions I witnessed.
This was a challenging time for all staff and residents as Covid had a considerable impact in the first months of 2022. There seemed to be a large staff turnover during this period and when visiting resumed I found a change in management and care team. At the practical end, the delivery of care seemed to go well, but at times the home appeared to be short-staffed, especially at weekends. When my mother's health declined in her last weeks, the staff showed excellent support for her and the family. The bedding and room were kept clean and fresh and my mother was kept as comfortable as possible. I appreciated the support from the local surgery too.
Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at New Forest Nursing HomeThank you for your review. My condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother. I appreciate just how tough such a time is, and so for you to make time to provide a review for us is humbling, thank you. My mother was a resident at New Forest Nursing Home for almost seven years until she passed away in July 2022. She arrived, after a spell in hospital, in poor spirits and worsening health with the onset of mild dementia. The welcoming friendly nature of the staff and regular healthy meals quite quickly
gave my mother a new lease on life. As her dementia became more serious she was amongst nursing and care staff who knew her, cared for her and ensured she was happy. As well as nursing, care and activities staff, the kitchen team, maintenance crew and managers, even at the most senior levels, took a genuine interest in my mother and enriched her daily life. Activities were understandably reduced during the Covid Pandemic but, even during the most difficult months, my mother was content. I felt New Forest Nursing Home handled the lockdown and isolation challenges with reassuring confidence and sensitivity. The disciplined and cheerful approach to infection control by all members of staff was really impressive.
Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at New Forest Nursing HomeHello,
Thank you for your review.
The way our colleagues embraced caring for all residents during the pandemic and since has been humbling to witness. Everyone stepped up to support residents in those dark days when family members couldn't visit. Thanks to our team there was still plenty of laughter and warmth for all residents. Not all heroes wear capes! My very best wishes to your family, and thanks again.

My mother has been in New Forest Nursing home for nearly 3 years. During Covid, the home relied more and more on agency staff which in my mother's case was not always satisfactory as she is bedbound and now has to have pure food. Occasionally the staff were not as supportive and understanding as they
could be. During the Covid lockdown, I think the home managed very well under the circumstances. I now visit my mother twice a week - her pure meals are now good and appropriate for her needs. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Her room is clean - but the walls have spillage stains that need to be cleaned up. She has a very small room - but prefers this room as it is one of the few rooms that have mobile reception. It is such a shame that the nursing home does not have wifi and mobile reception for the residents. My mother is not able to engage in the activities as she is reluctant to leave her room.

As I was not able to visit my father because of Covid and was very surprised at his poor physical state to the point I did not recognise him when I saw him again in June as he lost over 20 kilos since I last saw him. However, after talking to the staff, I realised most of the weight loss happened before
he was admitted to the care home. After a couple of days of visiting, I realised that there we some basic items missing for the betterment of care - for example, an extra long bed and a long chair for his height.

Although I think that this was more a result of the limited supply of the NHS and difficulty of getting items due to the supply chain issue of covid, I feel that the staff and especially the manager went out of her way to rectify these and other smaller issues. She always showed empathy and understanding towards my father. I really do feel she made a heartfelt effort to do the best for my father to have as much dignity and comfort while he remained with us.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
