My husband has been a resident for over 5 years. He suffers with dementia. During this time he has received excellent care in every aspect.
I am always welcomed when I visit and kept informed about his wellbeing. He is always spoken to and encouraged to take part in activities. I am completely happy
with every aspect of his care and life.
NB: Whenever a new member of the care team arrives they immediately know who I am!

My family and I find the have very personable, decorated like a persons home would be, allowing the resident to feel he's always lived there, dad was always planting flowers or cutting the grass so the garden in the nice weather is lovely too. The staff are kind and friendly and the meals are lovely,
snacks galore in between. There are also some activities that dad enjoys a great home.

I have been visiting my husband at Ranvilles for many years. In all this time I have found all the staff act in a professional and caring way. They treat all the residents with dignity. The staff can adapt to changing circumstances, and work as a close knit team. The residents rooms are kept clean,
tidy and redecorated when necessary. The food is adapted to individual needs and always good quality. Activities always coming up with good new ideas which suit the residents. Thank you.

The home gave us a first rate service. My father was well cared for and was looking better than he had done for many months after they started to care for him. I found the staff helpful and friendly. The manager, Leni, was someone I chose to be open with and gave me good advice.

My mother was admitted to Ranvilles after a very lengthy stay in hospital. Sadly she was unable to come home to me as her needs physically and mentally had increased.
My sister and I have found this home to be wonderful. All staff without exception make us feel welcome and keep us informed as to
mums progress. All food is home cooked and drinks are readily available. They all seem to genuinely care.

Excellence in every aspect of care. This is a home with staff that are superbly trained, compassionate and determined to make the time residents spend in the home happy, safe and enriching. My mum was so lucky to have found Ranvilles for the very last two years of her life. Her complex health needs
were met by every member of staff from RGN through to ancillary and administrative staff. She was able to live fully through the wonderful programme of activities, particularly the craft sessions. Staff focused on what she could do and built a programme around her personally. Having spent the last week with my mum as she slipped away, I can say with certainty that every aspect of the care patients received is careful, attentive, provided with dignity and absolute professionalism. This home is is an absolute credit to the care system - my family will never be able to thank you enough for all that you did for my mum.
Reply from Leni Zacharia, Interim Manager at Ranvilles Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words. My husband was discharged to Ranvilles Nursing Home in October 2024 where he had 24 hour one to one care. He was looked after very well by everyone that worked at Ranvilles. Everyone had a smile and a kind word for him and would do everything they could to help him eat and drink which was a huge challenge
for them. The family cannot thank Ranvilles enough for all their support not only for my husband but also us as a family. They kept us informed at all times and we cannot fault them at all just thank them 100%

My husband has been a resident at Ranvilles for 6 years. In all that time, the staff have always shown to be kind and caring. The difficult area of personal care is done with dignity and compassion for the residents. Staff always talk to you and help and understand, not just the resident but also for
the family member. My husband can not speak but he knows and trusts the carers, often smiling at them. Thank you Ranvilles for all you have done for both of us.

In May 2024 I received a missed call from an unknown number and later saw an email from Ranvilles asking me to make contact. When I called I spoke with a member of staff who very casually told me my Dad had passed away that morning, she was very reluctant to give her name (I had to ask her 6/7 times).
Then she asked about my Mum who passed away 18 months ago - why? I was distressed at the news of my Dad was delivered so casually and the odd question about my Mum. She said they had been trying to contact me all day (one unknown call and one email). I switched into a professional mode to protect myself and gave Dad's name and date of birth and asked her to please check again. After a few seconds she again very casually said "Yes, he passed away this morning". I had no idea of the circumstances of how Dad died or whether to cascade unreliable info to the wider family. Very distressing interaction with this staff member, I was shocked at the lack of professionalism.
Reply from Debbie Mills, Registered Manager at Ranvilles Nursing HomeI have spoken to the daughter (the home had actually spent over 24 hours trying to contact the family with no success) since this miscommunication around the daughter and the member of staff. The member of staff did not realise that his wife was not the daughter's mum and the home has apologised for this mistake. I explained what had happened and the daughter seemed to accept our apologies. The member of staff has had supervision around this conversation. I also spoke to the gentleman's wife on the same day and explained the situation. She was very apologetic re not answering her phone and praised the home for the care around her husband. My father has advanced Alzheimer's, and his needs are very complex, which his previous home could not manage,
Since February 2023, Dad has been cared for at Ranvilles. He is non-mobile, doubly incontinent and can become very agitated and aggressive due to his illness.
The level of care he receives
is impeccable. All staff are kind, caring, alongside respectful, understanding and professional. They have given us peace, knowing Dad couldn't be better cared for. Thank you.

My father was cared hurt for here for two months when his condition deteriorated so much that he needed nursing care. He was well looked after and the staff were considerate and caring. It was clearly a well run home and with excellent nurses managing all care. The home came into its own in the final
days of my father's life. All the staff was so understanding and nothing was too difficult. The nurses explained everything and were outstanding in a difficult situation. They were supported by all the other staff to make my dad's passing a calm and peaceful end.

My father moved into Ranvilles from another care home which could no longer meet his needs. I am so happy with the care that Dad now receives. Each and every one of the nurses and care staff are really making the home a lovely place, full of love, and making Dad feel as settled and loved as possible.
Nothing is ever too much trouble for all the staff and we are always made to feel welcome and comfortable every time we go to visit him. I can leave Dad after each visit with much more ease, feeling safe in the fact that he will be really well looked after 24/7. Cannot fault the home and so happy Dad is settled thanks to all the wonderful people who work there.

My brother passed away suddenly in March 2023 having moved into Ranvilles Nursing Home in May 2017. He was one of their most challenging residents who took a long time to settle. The manager and staff never gave up on him, working hard to establish relationships with him. It wasn't an easy time for
us, as a family, but the amazing staff just kept going with him. Different staff helped him enjoy his love of rock music together with his sporting interests including rugby and football.
Ranvilles was the only nursing home that was prepared to accept him as a resident and I realise now how lucky we were.
Life seems strange without my brother but it also is strange no longer being part of the Ranvilles family. I miss the weekly update telephone call and talking to all the staff who really take the time to get to know you.
Thank you all again for everything each and every one of you did for the last six years.

I have been at Ranvilles just over 5 months, very helpful and supportive team in all aspects. Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.523)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.523) out of 10 for Ranvilles Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.698 for Ranvilles Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (133 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 159 Ratings = 4.698
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ranvilles Nursing Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
