Waterside House Nursing Home

Initially it was difficult to identify different grades of staff. As no display board. It was hard to identify who was management, who were senior nurses, who were housekeepers. Everyone was welcoming no matter what level they were in the home. They looked happy and appeared to be caring for the residents
who were in the communal areas. I was quiet shocked that the main lift was broken for the whole of my husbands stay. I am disabled and I use a walker and it was a very long walk to the lift that was working. The general cleanliness of the home, considering how large it is, well cared for. There were plenty of break out areas. It was very warm the decor was very clean and maintained. My husbands room was rather small. It did have an en suite which certainly helped with previous incontinence. He was able to " go when he needed" which he was very pleased about. After an initial settling period he became more settled in himself. He loves the food. He was happy to socialise when he wanted.
Reply from Jo Aitken, Home Manager at Waterside House Nursing HomeThank you for your feedback, it is so appreciated. We are very pleased to hear that you found the team welcoming & caring, & that your husband was able to settle, enjoy his food & socialise in a way that suited him. It's also lovely to hear your comments about the home being clean, comfortable & well maintained. We appreciate your comments regarding staff identification. We do have photos of the management team displayed in reception & uniforms are colour coded, however we will continue to review how this can be made clearer. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the lift. The home does have a second lift in operation, although we recognise the distance may have been difficult. The lift in question is an original feature requiring bespoke parts & is currently being replaced, with works due to complete in the coming months. We are really pleased that your husband was able to feel settled & comfortable with us, & we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Welcoming from the start. Staff do an amazing job and are always on hand to help. The Manager Neetha is extremely polite, professional & helpful. My mothers room is clean & tidy although mum is not keen on her bed she understands it needs to be like a hospital bed for practical reasons. Overall I fully
recommend this nursing home.

Only on one visit we were left feeling slightly uncomfortable - we were asking for chairs to sit on in my mother's room, my wife & I were met with what appears to be negative attitude but the chairs eventually arrived.

Reply from Shan Visram, Director at Seven ArchesThank you for your review of Seven Arches Nursing Home.
We are pleased to note that kind comments regarding the amazing work our staff do.
We apologies for the negative attitude during one of your visits - we always try to ensure that all our visitors are welcomed with a smile and to offer assistance.
We note the low rating for activities, and i have asked Neetha to reach out to you to see what we can do going forward to provide a better service regarding the activities for your mother while she resides with us .

At the age of 96, my father passed away on 22 April. Since September 2022, when my father was first admitted to Seven Arches Nursing Home, I, and the rest of my family, have nothing but praise for the wonderful, caring and conscientious staff who have provided us all with support. I have heard stories
from people whose relatives have been placed with other nursing homes suggesting less than acceptable care, but this has never been the case for my father - as far as we are concerned he has been as well looked after as he possibly could. My mother, who also died recently, always felt that she could rest easy knowing that my father was well taken care of. In all the 3 1/2 years that I have dealt with the staff at this establishment I have never had cause for complaint and for me they have provided reassurance that true professionalism has not died. A heartfelt thanks to everyone at the nursing home.
Reply from Shan Visram, Director at Seven ArchesThank you so much for your incredibly kind words and for taking the time to share your experience with Seven Arches Nursing Home.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of both your father and mother, and we send our sincere condolences to you and your family during this difficult time.

It was truly a privilege to care for your father over the past three and a half years. Your comments about our staff's care, compassion and professionalism mean a great deal to us, and we will ensure that your heartfelt thanks are shared with the whole team.

Providing comfort, dignity and reassurance to both our residents and their families is at the heart of everything we do, so it is especially touching to know that your mother felt able to rest easy knowing your father was in safe and caring hands.

Thank you once again for your trust and support. Your words will mean so much to all of our staff.

My mother has been at Waterside for 4 months and is very happy, feels safe and cared for. There is something special about Waterside, a feeling of being welcomed into a family. The open plan layout means mum can wheel her chair wherever she wants through the various light and airy lounges, seating
areas and dining room, giving her a sense of independence. All the staff are friendly, kind and patient and each visit is greeted with a smile and an offer of tea and biscuits! The food is excellent, nutritious and plentiful. Mum's ensuite room is beautiful with a view over the garden and the distant water. I feel content and at peace when I leave her knowing she is safe, cared for, loved and happy. The nursing staff keep in contact with me regularly about any issues relating to her health. A difficult decision to put my mum into residential care after 11 years looking after her, has been made more bearable with the support and kindness from Waterside. Highly recommended.
Reply from Jo Aitken, Home Manager at Waterside House Nursing HomeThank you so much for such a lovely review, it really means a lot to all of us. We're so pleased to hear that your mum is happy, settled and feeling safe here. That sense of being part of a family is exactly what we hope to create, so it's really special to hear you describe it that way. It also means a great deal that you feel at peace when you leave her. We know what a huge decision it is, especially after caring for her yourself for so many years, and we don't take that trust lightly at all. Your kind words about the team, the home and even the tea and biscuits have all been shared, and they've made a lot of people smile. Thank you again for taking the time to write this and for trusting us with your mum's care.

Waterside have created an environment that is safe, loving, bright and comforting and it's location by the sea is very special. Access to the home is 24/7 and this availability gives you as a relative massive confidence that there is nothing to hide. Waterside will live or die by it's staff, from the
ery top, down to the carers on each shift, there has been compiled a dedicated, empathetic team of people that complete their work with compassion and a softness that can only be applauded.

My Aunt is part of a community that provides constant stimulation and social interactions. She shares lunch with other residents in a beautiful dining room, eating freshly cooked meals sometimes to order. Her condition can make her vacant and difficult to reach, but with perseverance you can get through. The longer she has been at waterside the more frequent the occasions have become. My Aunt is safe, she has stability she is protected. Waterside has given back her dignity and quality of life.

Reply from Luke Groves, Administrator at Waterside House Nursing HomeThank you very much for your kind and thoughtful review.

It means a great deal to our whole team to hear that your aunt feels safe, supported and part of the Waterside community. We are especially grateful for your comments about our staff, who work with compassion and dedication every day to support our residents' dignity and quality of life.

Thank you for your trust in us - it is a privilege to care for your aunt.
