White Rock nursing home provides high-quality care, and was one of the first nursing homes to offer specialist dementia care. It is conveniently placed near the sea and a short drive from the New Forest, providing a homely atmosphere where person-centred care is offered to individuals to help them remain as independent-minded and active as possible.

The home believes in the right of every resident to freedom of choice, privacy and personal dignity. Respect is central to all care services provided, with spiritual and medical needs of residents always being looked after. Activities are offered on a regular basis, including music therapy and sitting exercise sessions.

Highly qualified care staff at the home have either achieved or are working towards NVQ qualifications, levels 2 or 3. Care staff work alongside skilled nurses to provide a high standard of care.

A big thank you to all the staff at White Rock nursing home who cared for my mum for nearly 2 years. Mum had vascular dementia and other medical problems, which meant she was bedridden for most of her stay there. The management and staff were so helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble
for them. They always had lots of things going on for the residents like meditation, dancing, trips out on the minibus, entertainment etc. White Rock always felt very homely, and we always came away feeling happy that mum was having the best care. Thank you so very much for looking after our mum so well.

My dear Dad was cared for incredibly well at White Rock. He was treated with dignity, kindness and compassion throughout his stay and at the end of his life. The staff were so caring and went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable and peaceful. They kept us really well informed and made sure
that Dad was seen by the relevant medical and health professionals when necessary. I am very grateful to everyone at White Rock for making my Dad's last weeks as best as they could be. Thank you with all my heart.

Thank you for your very kind words. I will pass them to the staff. Even though we only spent a short time with your dad, he had quite an impact on the staff and the home and will be truly missed by all at White Rock Nursing Home.

My father was a resident at White Rock for only a short time until he passed away in May.
From the moment myself and my family went in to visit, we were shown amazing kindness and friendliness from all of the staff there.
We felt so welcome and the staff were always available to chat with and help
us with anything.
My dad was really well looked after and I thank the staff for everything they did for him.

Thank you for your kind words. I know all the staff work hard to make sure the residents are all looked after at a very high standard. I will pass this onto them.

My mother-in-law was a resident at White Rock for nearly 3 months, until she passed away in her 95th year. She was bedridden, and in a very poor state of health during that time, but the home manager and all the staff looked after her with great care and compassion. We could not have asked more of them.

We find the home very welcoming and homely, Mum has settled in very well and not only is she happy every time we visit, which is several times per week, she always comments on how well she is cared for and how nice the staff treat her.
We find the care excellent and the staff genuinely caring, nothing
appears to be too much trouble and visiting is not restricted, which is a blessing for us. We are always welcome with the offer of drinks and an update on Mum's situation, if ever there are any concerns we are contacted immediately. We are so pleased we chose White Rock for Mum.

My wife has Alzheimer's disease, she has been a resident at White Rock nursing home for two years. I visit her regularly and have observed that her treatment by the medical team and carers is carried out to the highest of standards and she is very happy there. With her having this disease she is not
very responsive to what is going on but the carers always include her in all activities to help stimulate her. They keep her clean and tidy and help her with food and drink intake. I am very pleased with the home in every way.

Dad was transferred to White Rock from hospital for rehabilitation after a broken hip. The care he received was outstanding, sadly dad was too weak and did not recover, but in the time he was there, he was cared for with respect and kindness. Additionally, the care and support given to myself and Mum
by all the staff during this difficult time was appreciated and made the situation more bearable. The building may not be new, but the care given by the staff was outstanding and I doubt you could find better.

I would, with all my heart, like to say a huge "thank you" to all the staff at White Rock for the genuine kindness, care and compassion that you showed to my darling husband from the moment he arrived until the day I lost him. Nothing was too much trouble, especially towards the end when he was never
left on his own. There was always someone by his side, holding his hand, offering kind and comforting words. Everyone has been so kind and supportive towards me. I have been truly touched by your kindness and care. My husband couldn't have asked for better care. He was very happy with you. I will never forget what you all did for him and me. God bless you.

White Rock is simply the best care home I have come across. I work with dementia patients in my job. My father is currently a resident at White Rock. I am so very impressed with every member of staff, not just the manager's care staff but the people who don’t get much praise ie the cooks, gardeners,
domestic staff who are the backbone of a home that makes it clean and welcoming. The activity staff are second to none.
In a day and age where homes are under such scrutiny and many are highlighted for there failings, White Rock has taken on these challenges and provides a comfortable, safe, kind and relaxed environment where residents are able to spend there remaining years being looked after.

I never thought mum would have to go into a care home. Always fiercely independent, even with her dementia, the thought of a care home was never even talked about.
Sadly, after a long stay in hospital and rapid deterioration, the truth hit me and a nursing home was the only way forward. Now the difficult
task of choosing the right place for Mum.
I was incredibly emotional and found it all difficult to come to terms with.
On both my visits to White Rock, I received a warm welcome and made to feel that this would be right for Mum.
After only a few days, as a resident, it was clear that I'd made the right decision. Mum would be happy here and well looked after.
All the staff, without question, are incredibly caring and it's obvious they enjoy and take a lot of pride in what they do.
I have no idea how long Mum has but I do know that her quality of life couldn't be better than it is here. Thank you White Rock.

We have received nothing but excellent help, advice and support since our first contact with White Rock. Their standards of care over the past three years have been consistently higher than we had ever expected from a care home. As we do not live nearby, knowing my godmother is so well cared for gives
me peace of mind. Highly recommended.

Our mother has severe dementia and White Rock has been wonderful. The staff, of which there are plenty, are very attentive, supportive and kind. This is a nursing home that prioritises care and stimulation for its clients/patients. The staff turnover is very low too which really helps Mum and is more
evident of a "happy ship". I would most happily recommend White Rock very strongly.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.540)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.540) out of 10 for White Rock is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.840 for White Rock is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.84
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for White Rock is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
