Kite Hill is a small boutique care home in Wootton Bridge, Isle of Wight. Kite Hill provides expert care to a maximum of 29 residents, allowing for truly personalised care in a smart but homely setting.

Run by the same family for 50 years, the home is proud to enjoy a fantastic reputation for quality care. Facilities include, level entry wet rooms, hoist bathrooms, resident Wi-Fi and telephone and height adjustable profiling beds for each room. The home also has a fantastic lounge with balcony and a further quiet lounge / library.

The home's Activity Co-ordinator provides room visits as well as group activities and residents also enjoy professional art and music sessions once a week.

There is a wheelchair accessible large deck and a super lawned garden with raised planters and a wheelchair accessible summer house and green house.

Kite Hill looked after my mother for two months during summer 2021. The staff were unfailingly kind to her and she was as happy as possible given her state of health. The organisation was very flexible with regards to her needs and requests. At all times the home was easy to contact and visit, even
though Covid restrictions made this more difficult than usual. Best of all, every time a member of staff promised me they would call me, they did, without fail. This simple keeping of promises was a great relief to our family and was in contrast to our dealings with other homes and services during my mother's last 2 or 3 years. Without doubt, Kite Hill provided the best care my mother experienced during this period.

I cannot recommend this nursing home highly enough. Both my mother and father went into Kite Hill in July 2021, for two weeks respite having both been in hospital. However due to lack of community care they ended up staying there for nearly six months. This was my mother's worst nightmare as she has
always been petrified of having to go into a home. The staff at Kite Hill are just incredible people who cared about and listened to my parents. They had time for them and nothing was ever too much trouble. Whilst my mother always wanted to come home, mainly to be at home with her cats, she always said that there was nothing that she could complain about living at Kite Hill. Both parents loved all of the care staff, would laugh and joke with them and talk to them when they needed to. The food was always a high standard and they had several choices each day. They felt safe and valued whilst residing at Kite Hill. Thank you to all of the incredible staff who made their experience so positive.

My father has been at Kite Hill for two years. He is now almost 96. He has been well cared for and is happy. He has dementia but still manages to tell me how kind all the staff are. I see this displayed as I visit several times a week. Everybody works very very hard and I would recommend this Home to
everyone with relatives that need care.

Overall staff were very kind but unfortunately not enough of them to spend any quality time. Sometimes food was not cut up (my sister had had a stroke and was unable to use one of her arms. She was also bed-bound so had meals in her room) and meals were just left on her tray so she was only able to
eat parts of her meal. i.e unable to eat roast meat). Choice sometimes limited and repeated frequently although portions adequate. The staff, unfortunately, lost her false teeth when she was admitted to hospital and they were not replaced.

At Kite Hill we offer choices at every meal and a wide variety, however, we always personalise our food to the likes and tastes of individual residents, with some choosing to eat a restricted diet.
Every effort was made to replace the teeth that were lost, somewhere between home and hospital. Unfortunately, the arrival of the pandemic prevented any further progress.

My mother was at Kite Hill for nearly four years. This home was a perfect fit for mother who received excellent individual care in this small and friendly home. Her care plan was updated regularly and combined with daily record-keeping I was always confident that Mother's needs and preferences were
being fully met.
Mother needed help to eat her food but was always adequately provided with quality nutritious food and fluids. This home provided a relaxed, secure and safe environment following Mum's discharge from hospital after having sustained a serious fall at her previous care home.

My wife, who had Vascular Dementia, was a resident of Kite Care Home for almost a whole year before her death in late October 2020. In all that time, she received excellent care from the staff, including those who organised activities for the residents. The care home was relatively small in relation
to others on the Isle of Wight, this meant that I personally got to know the staff well and found there was an overall commitment to providing an excellent service to the residents. I was always impressed with the genuine kindness and patience of the carers who often had to cope with uncooperative individuals, which at times included my wife. Near the "end of life," I personally appreciated the support I received from the staff. In conclusion, I would have no hesitation in recommending Kite Hill Care Home to anyone seeking this type of accommodation.

Our Aunt was very well cared for in very difficult circumstances in 2020 by a lovely friendly team. They made her feel comfortable, helped with specific requests and really provided great care for her in what turned out to be her last year.

Sadly, Covid prevented much visiting while my Mum was cared for by Kite Hill during her last months. But their communication with us was always kind, prompt and sensitive. They did everything they could to help let my Mum know she was loved.

The food is awful, overcooked, tasteless and often cold (or completely melted) by the time my relative gets it and could not be said to be healthy (5 a day no chance).
Urgent medical assistance not available and my relative is often left uncomfortable, sore and in pain.
Today I phoned her (as I do
daily to try and boost her mood) she was in tears. She was still in bed at 11.00 am. She has a sore on her bottom and hasn't had a shower in days. I am at the end of my tether. I haven't been able to go and see her since March and I feel so helpless.

With a background in administration, Bev joined Kite Hill in 2012 as a care assistant, looking for a more rewarding career. Bev has progressed from Care Assistant to Registered Manager, gaining her level 5 in Health and Social Care Management along the way. Bev is super friendly but always professional, genuinely kind but also truly determined to ensure that every resident receives the very best care possible. Bev supports all new residents from enquiry through to admission.

Katie Santos

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2017

Katie Joined Kite Hill in 2017 with significant experience as a Care Assistant. Katie showed great potential and was quickly promoted to Senior Carer. At the beginning of 2022, Katie was promoted to Deputy Manager. She supports the Registered Manager with all aspects of managing the Home and is very hands-on. She is a great listener and very personable, always willing to go the extra mile for the residents and their families.

Jane, with the support of her domestic team, manages the cleaning of all areas of the Home. She also liaises with maintenance to ensure the environment is safe and well-presented. Jane supports our residents with maintaining clean and tidy rooms and enjoys helping people to personalise their rooms.

Bev joined Kite Hill Care Home in 2024 as our Activities co-ordinator. Bev has Level 2 Health and Social Care in Dementia and previous experience working with Adults and Children with learning difficulties. Bev supports our residents with activities throughout the week, including exercise, gardening, arts and crafts, quizzes and games and music sessions. Bev also arranges celebrations and parties throughout the year. Bev is friendly and bubbly, but also very kind, she loves to support each resident with their own hobbies too. Bev arranges visits from Marnie the Therapy Dog, Independent Arts, musicians, primary schools and our local church.
