Cooksditch House Nursing & Residential Home cares for residents with compassion, empathy and dignity.

Understanding that all residents are individuals, they provide person centred care which is tailored to each person.

Care plans are built on together with the resident, family and friends that support the individual, and the team encourages active participation from all to ensure they meet the needs of the individual.

Situated in the historic town of Faversham, the care home offers a range of services to older people including residential and nursing care, respite care and palliative care.

Residents can bring their own furniture and decorate their rooms with pictures and paintings, to make their room more personalised and homely, and pets can be considered by prior arrangement.

The care home is located close to shops, Tesco is just minutes away from the home and public transport to other local areas, there are local parks and plenty of coffee shops for tea and cake.

Residents that are able to go out with family and friends are encouraged to visit the local areas of beauty.

For those that like to swim, the home is located close to the local swimming baths which has disabled access.

The home has an entertainments team that supplies a personalised activity planner weekly, quarterly residents meetings to listen to what residents would like to see going on.

There are also fetes and open days for the local community to get involved in as well as regular entertainment in-house and from external providers.

All meals provided are fresh, home cooked and three well balanced, nutritious meals are provided each day, with snacks and drinks available 24 hours per day. The team caters for specialised meals as requested.

The home has two local GP surgeries, within close proximity of Cooksditch House, one of which provides a weekly ward round.

My dad has been in Cooksditch House for about a year and he appears to be very content. He likes the staff and the food. For me, I am pleased to see how his constantly changing needs are accommodated by the staff, who have always been friendly, open and approachable.

Always a warm welcome by staff and management. Mum has been a resident for almost 2 years. She is very well cared for. I am able to visit her in her room, which is always clean and tidy. The home itself is spotless. They have recently had some decorating completed to freshen the home up. Mum enjoys
many of the activities and especially bingo and a pamper (nails etc.).
Any problems or queries are always addressed quickly. Staff are always happy to stop and chat and management too. Appreciate the relative's meetings, very informative.

Mum was in Cooksditch House Nursing & Residential Home for 19 years and I have knowledge of residential and nursing care. I can highly recommend Cooksditch House. The care given to Mum from day one until she passed away was outstanding. I have nothing but praise for the staff. Reception, always cheerful.
Management, I was always well informed of any concerns with her health. housekeeping, superb. The home is spotless and fresh. Entertainment, varied activities and residents are encouraged to join in.
Thank you Cooksditch House for the fantastic care you gave Mum and the support you gave to me.

My brother at 57 became bedbound and had an inoperable tumour which meant he was given only 6-12 months to live. He came to live at Cooksditch House Nursing & Residential Home to be near me. The staff were kind, good-humoured and efficient and made his stay as comfortable and happy as possible. He was
always listened to and his needs were dealt with quickly. Likewise, the management was always ready to help and I felt very supported as his next of kin.

My mum has been a resident for 19 months and has received care and attention at all times, we are always informed of anything needed. Mum wasn't sure about going into a home at first but now I feel she is happy and has settled in well and takes part in the daily activities, I just wish there was more

My lovely mum, who meant the world to me and my two brothers and her family, unfortunately, had to go into a care home last August. I’m very glad she went into Cooksditch House Nursing & Residential Home, although not the poshest looking home the care and cleanliness was really good. My mum was easy
to love and all the carers and nurses looked after her so well, not only seeing to her everyday needs but spending time with her, painting her nails, looking through her family photos with her etc.
Unfortunately, my 98-year-old mum passed away on April 3rd this year.
I thank you Cooksditch and the lovely, hard-working people who looked after her for making her last few months comfortable and I know my mum would say the same.

My mum was moved from hospital to this home for end of life care. Mum didn't talk to any of her family members while in hospital, but once she was settled into Cooksditch House Nursing & Residential Home she brightened up, she knew who we all were and talked to us. She was kept clean and pain-free.
Nothing was too much trouble. The home was clean and smelt fresh. Staff were friendly, but most of all they all cared and spoke to Mum. She was treated as a person, not just a number. Very pleased with the home. All Covid rules abided.

All staff do their absolute best. Elderly people are not easy, but everyone is patient, kind and encouraging. It would help the food if the plates were warm when the food is served up. It's good having a toilet with the bedroom - it would help if the washbasin was larger where possible.

We are always made welcome when we visit. The staff keep us up to date, but mainly when we ask.
Communication is not always good in regarding going out. We have a not put in the diary but is not always adhered to and have had to wait for the resident to get ready.
Clothes are changed regularly and
we ensure everything is marked. However, two articles are missing, although told staff will look for them, we have not had feedback.
The resident is settled and happy to be at Cooksditch House.

Overall, the care is good but I feel there is not enough coverage at weekends. I feel confident that my mother is receiving good care and is being treated kindly by the staff.

With regards to the coverage at weekends, the staff ratios are exactly the same as during the week, the only difference being that the main office is shut. However, the manager is always accessible to staff should she be needed. If you have any concerns around this please feel free to pop into the office and speak to the manager as we operate an open-door policy for all staff and relatives.

Mum has been at Cooksditch since last January. In this time the staff have cared and helped our Mum through all her ups and downs that her dementia brings. Our Dad also spent time at Cooksditch for palliative care. The whole team were so lovely and caring to Dad and going the extra mile to help our
Mum too after we lost Dad. Whenever we visit we are always welcomed with a friendly smile. We are always kept up to date with any changes or concerns with Mum. All the staff and the Manager are so approachable. I thoroughly recommend Cooksditch Care Home.

We found Cooksditch House when Mum needed nursing care. The understanding and care given was spot on. The manager understood her needs and ensured Mum was comfortable and that informed decisions were made. Mum totally trusted her, a big thing for her. The staff were always friendly and she enjoyed interacting
with them - care given was excellent, and she was never alone for any length of time. The Dr/hospice team were well appraised of any changes which ensured she had the best possible care. I received regular updates and was always offered drinks/meals when visiting. I always felt confident Mum was safe and being cared for by professionals. I am certain she was in the right place and I know she felt the same way - she liked that her room was bright and clean and the food was so good; staff went out of their way to do nice things for her and she felt at home with the "family" feel that this engendered. I have already recommended Cooksditch to others and cannot thank you enough.

Choosing a care home for our loved ones is very difficult. What appears entirely suitable to start with may not suit them. My grandfather initially spent 2 months at another home and was deeply unhappy as there was not enough social interaction for him.


Granddad was not the easiest of patients initially

and resented his loss of independence. Cooksditch balanced the needs of his mental well being with his physical needs and extended as much independence as was safe to do so. He soon settled down and realised that this isn't a prison, the home actively encouraging those that can to go out with their relatives to do the things they would ordinarily have done (coffee shop, pub, park, seaside).


The conservatory area is ideal in the summer, the more sociable residents chatting and enjoying the sunshine and a steady stream of staff passing through with a smile and a few words. It's not just about the physical needs but the mental wellbeing and many of the staff would find time in their busy schedules to just sit and talk with granddad.


Granddad passed away at the end of November in his room with his family happy, ready to go. The level of care in his last days was unparalleled, the manager sitting by his bedside holding his hand at 6am when he was scared until we could get there to be with him. Many of the staff treat patients as they would their own relatives and it's evident it's more than a job to them. I don't think we could have found a place better suited to granddad's needs.

I was not sure what I wanted to do with my life when I left college, so I got a job at Cooksditch House as a care staff member in 2000.


I was not sure if this was the job for me at the time, but I loved the job and straight away i knew that i wanted to go into nursing.


I commenced my nurse training in 2003, whilst still working at Cooksditch House as a care staff member to help support me through my nursing qualification.


I qualified as a registered nurse in 2006, all whilst remaining at Cooksditch House where I have now reached the position of Clinical Lead and I love what I do.


I want what is best for our residents at a time in their lives when they need care and support to ensure they receive appropriate person-centred care.
