Larchmere has been fantastic for my mum. She is loved and taken care of by the staff. All the staff are approachable and very friendly. There are activities every day and relatives are made very welcome. We wouldn't want mum anywhere else.

Dad is very happy there, it's very clean and tidy, the staff are very friendly and always jolly and they take time to talk to and care for the residents. There are lots of activities organised and also regular entertainers. Myself and the other members of our family are very impressed and happy that
dad is in this home.

Larchmere nursing home exceeds expectations. My mother felt at home, looked after by extremely professional and friendly staff. They engage with the patients, treating them as extended family. The range of activities is exceptional- from singing to bowling to boat trips, and even meals at the pub opposite.
The home gave me peace of mind- that she was in the best of hands.

Dad has lived in Larchmere House Care Home for several years and although he would prefer to be in his own home, at nearing one hundred and one he knows that is not realistic. What he has, which he could never have had at home, is a superb level of care from exceptional, caring and compassionate staff.
Whenever we visit Dad, the staff are always so friendly and engaging that we feel part of the Larchmere family.
It's also so important the role activities play in maintaining the residents' mental health and interest in the outside world. The entertainment team do an amazing job arranging both in-house events and external visits to the 'local' just over the road, the theatre, river trips and even a famous air show event at nearby Headcorn.
It is a difficult and sometimes unenviable job to provide good care, Larchmere does this in both a dedicated and sympathetic, caring way and I would have no hesitation to recommend them to anyone who finds themselves seeking a caring home for an infirm or ageing relative.

My father in law has been staying at Larchmere House Care Home for several months, so we have got to know the place and the brilliant staff that work there. I must say I have never experienced such a warm welcome every time we visit, all of the staff are so committed and go out of the way to care for,
and entertain all of its residents. Most days they organise wonderful activities and often lunch trips out to the local pub with the resident's relatives. If you are looking for a friendly, clean, wonderful atmosphere and amazing staff to look after you or a family member, I recommend you go and visit and take a look for yourself.

My mother has been at Larchmere House Care Home for over a year and we have been extremely happy with the care she has received.
All the staff are kind, caring, patient and thoughtful. They undertake their sometimes challenging work in a dedicated, happy manner and approach arduous tasks with a smile
and fun banter. The nurses have been quick to act when Mum has been unwell and if necessary contact the GP which has been very reassuring.
The food is prepared beautifully with lots of choice.
Mum's room is warm and cosy with everything she needs. She loves to be able to look out on the beautiful garden and watch the birds feeding.
We are always kept well informed with any issues by the home and a recent relative's meeting was really helpful.
We are most impressed with all the activities provided by the home with something planned every day. The activities team always ensure the residents have a fun time whether on an outing or in house.
Mum regards Larchmere as her home for which we are extremely grateful.

My father-in-law has been at Larchmere for the last three months. He is in the final stages of his life and has complex needs. I cannot express how amazing the staff and facilities are at this home. The staff are friendly and respectful to all residents. They treat every service user with dignity and
care. My father-in-law is always clean, shaved and looked after, his wishes are always listened to. I can't recommend this home enough.

Mum has now been a resident for eight months. She was made very welcome and settled quickly. She feels safe and secure and enjoys the communal environment. The staff are excellent and very attentive. The quantity and quality of the food are superb. Mum has made friends with other residents and enjoys
the company of others and group activities. All her needs both medical and personal are all taken care of. We are very happy with the service and would have no hesitation recommending this care home to others.

I am a private carer and have 3 ex-clients whom I visit regularly in Larchmere House. I recommended Larchmere to all families. I have always found the home providing the best care with the care and needs of the residents and the health and safety paramount as it should be. The staff are professional
and caring. There is a high level of activities both inside the home and out with regular outings and opportunities to engage interests. The meals are nutritious and there is an excellent choice each day. There are excellent facilities in the garden when the weather is good which residents make use of and there is good social interaction and chat. There has been strict Covid control during the pandemic to ensure the safety of residents, staff and visitors. When I visit all the residents seem very happy and relaxed. The Manager is very approachable and has always been supportive and concerned for each resident and their family. All staff are polite and ready to help.

Excellent staff and so caring and kind to mum. I was really worried when mum first went into full-time care as I had looked after her at home for over sixteen years since dad died. But the staff supported me through the transition to allowing them to take over mum's care and for me to once again become
her daughter.

Larchmere house provides a lovely environment for residents. Having previously had a bad experience with a care home and seen media coverage of care homes Larchmere house really is a cut above the rest. All the staff from nursing to the kitchen and everyone in between do everything to ensure the resident's
stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Outstanding and exceptionally good care has been provided to my mum over the last couple of years. A small residential home where all the staff know all the residents. A very consistent staff team really seem to know all the residents well and are always very friendly and professional. Staff communicate
really well – I am always kept well informed of any issues or needs relating to my mum. Great range of on-site activities and regular wheelchair friendly visits off site. My mum has visited Leeds castle, a lion sanctuary and had trips to the coast for example. Excellent food with residents being offered choices at each meal time. The attractive garden is well used by residents and visitors in the summer. Robust safety measures have been in place throughout the covid pandemic. I have been really impressed with Larchmere and the care and support that has been provided to my mum.

At the age of 96 my mum suffered a steep decline in health following several falls. It was a distressing time moving her to Kent and wanting the very best for her in terms of care. I need not have worried – Larchmere House made the process a breeze and exceeded my expectations of what was possible.
She was welcomed and loved by all the staff: nurses, carers, administration, laundry, maintenance, catering and cleaning. The ethos of Larchmere House is to connect with all the residents and their families.
When my mum had a stroke we were informed the end was near. The family held a bedside vigil over several days. We were not made to feel in the way and the extended time allowed us to meet the night staff who had also contributed so positively to my mum’s welfare.
When the end came we were well prepared by the staff with such integrity and respect - we could not have asked for a more peaceful and dignified parting.
I have no hesitation in unreservedly recommending Larchmere House.

I would like to express my thanks and those of my family, to all the nurses and staff who looked after my brother whilst he was a resident in Larchmere House. It is clearly a home that genuinely prides itself on the overall quality of care given to all its residents and this was evident during each
visit. We all find it very comforting to know that he was receiving such loving care and attention and we are most grateful to all those who put that little bit extra into making my brother's life that little bit better than it might otherwise have been.

I found Larchmere House Care Home offered a high standard of care to my grandmother. The care home offered a lot of activities/events, which although my grandmother didn't partake in, I thought were excellent for residents and families. The care home went out of their way to ensure she ate well despite
her never wanting to eat the menu on offer that day. The care was very individualised. Towards end of life, the carers and nurses were extremely attentive to the needs of my grandmother and supported our family well. I would recommend this to others who require nursing care.

Pleasant country village surroundings with a homely (non-establishment) feeling. We found the staff truly cared, showing interest in my husband and relating to him and his past background and reminiscences. It enabled a bond that took him out of his dementia to brighten his day. A sunny day in the garden
made a lovely atmosphere and whilst he couldn't partake in the outings, they made a special effort for outings, tea parties and quizzes. All then that we needed - caring and dignity

Larchmere House staff provide exceptional care for my elderly mother over a 3 year period. They also took my father "under their wing" as he visited daily. They responded to my questions regarding her medication and end of life care with patience and understanding. Dad and I are very grateful to have
had this care.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.919) out of 10 for Larchmere House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.938 for Larchmere House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.938
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.981 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larchmere House Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.6 = 0.606
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
