My aunt spent nearly four years at Larchmere. In that time, I have always been impressed with the friendly atmosphere at Larchmere and the professional, caring attitude of the staff.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Larchmere as an excellent nursing home - while my aunt could communicate
effectively, she always sang the praises of the staff, saying that she was extremely pleased with the services provided.
They really are lovely people.

My mother moved to Larchmere House 16 months ago when her general health problems worsened, becoming immobile and therefore needing 24-hour care. She passed away in September.
In her time at Larchmere, the provision of care in every way - medical care, quality and variety of meals, activities and family
access (the list goes on) could not have been better.
After her passing, I wrote to the staff and the owners expressing my gratitude for everything that they had done to keep mother safe, comfortable and happy at all times. I visited Larchmere at least 3 times each week and always observed a very busy and cheerful staff working in a 'home-like' atmosphere. The nursing staff were excellent, seeking further medical advice when needed and always happy to discuss mother's welfare.
In mother's last days, every effort was made to ease her passing and the staff cared for the family in equal measure at that time.
I would recommend Larchmere House to anyone seeking a placement for a relative.

A really lovely nursing home. Every single person working at Larchmere showed kindness, friendliness and support. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The meals were extremely good and the alternatives were always offered. Great emphasis was placed on cleanliness. There were activities organised every
day and many trips out throughout the year. An excellent home where the staff really do care about the residents and their family.

I am happy. I get excellent care. I can call for help whenever I want, using my emergency button.
I feel safe and valued. I really enjoy the daily activities and outings. I always have a choice about what I do.
The food is freshly cooked every day and delicious. I have made a lot of friends at Larchmere,
both residents and staff.

Larchmere House has been a real blessing to both my mother and our family. The staff are all very kind and gentle and make the residents feel valued. There is a purpose to every day.
The home is warm, clean and smells fresh; residents bedding is boil washed each day and my mum always appears fresh
and beautifully dressed. Lots of outings are organised for those able and willing to go.
My mum, who is wheelchair-bound, has been on trips down the Medway, cream teas in various locations and is about to go to the theatre. Most importantly, she is happy and content.

My mum resided at Larchmere House for over 7 years. She was very happy there and always said how she was well looked after. She loved the outings, they organised, such as trips on the river Medway, Christmas shopping and in the summer, visits to Hastings. She got great pleasure from the entertainers
that visited the home, especially the singers. She loved the nurses and carers and all the staff and considered them her friends.
We were so touched by the love and care that was given to us after mum passed, each sharing their own memories and stories of mum.
We thank them all for making her last years happy ones.

Larchmere is a lovely, homely home where the nurses and carers who I see looking after my husband are extremely caring, to which he really responds, despite his lack of verbal communication.
The staff are a great team who work well together.
They are cheerful and good communicators.
It's difficult
to spot problems my husband might have, but the staff always listen and discuss my concerns and this has worked well overall.
The food is excellent and the home is fresh and clean and well maintained.

My mother has been a resident at Larchmere for nearly a year now and we cannot fault the care that she has been given in this time. The focus is on the care and well-being of the residents rather than spending lots of money making the home look impressive. The staff are all excellent and led by a very
good management team, which leads to a very friendly, supportive environment for the residents. Activities take place daily and there is usually at least one trip out each month. My mother is extremely happy at Larchmere and we would have no hesitation recommending the home to anyone.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.919)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.919) out of 10 for Larchmere House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.938 for Larchmere House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.938
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.981 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larchmere House Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.6 = 0.606
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
