Four and a half years ago, my brother's deteriorating health and complex care needs made admission to a care home inevitable... although it wasn't a decision that was made
lightly.
Durning this time we have seen changas at 'Coxwell' improvements to the building/decor and the garden. There have been
a few staff changes. Through all this the leadership and care ethos has never wavered.
Reply from Zipporah Magana, Home Manager at Coxwell Hall & Mews Nursing HomeThank you for your lovely review, it is our pleasure having your brother as a part of our Coxwell family. Truly appreciated

My aunt passed away after 1 year of residence at Coxwell Hall. In that time she changed from being extremely anxious with constant high blood pressure to a very relaxed person. She even stopped smoking which she did to calm herself. This is entirely due to the superb care and support she received from
Coxwell staff. They interacted with her all the time making sure that she was not lonely and of course comfortable medically. Any time there was an issue, such as a fall, I would be updated immediately. Excellent all round.
Reply from Zipporah Magana, Home Manager at Coxwell Hall & Mews Nursing HomeThank you for your lovely review, we are really pleased to hear of your positive experience while your aunt was in Coxwell. It was our pleasure caring for her and may she RIP.

Our aunt spent her last year as a resident at Coxwell House. She suffered from dementia and was very anxious and distressed before her arrival, but soon settled into her pretty room, with her photographs all around. Every time we visited we were struck by the professionalism, kindness and warmth of
the staff. They organised a lovely celebration for her 90th birthday, making it special. Our aunt clearly appreciated the staff and enjoyed chatting with them. When we visited her at the end of her life, she was comfortable and cared for beautifully. We are so grateful to the team at Coxwell, it meant so much as we live far away, to know that she was looked after so beautifully.

My father is very settled at this home and is extremely content. I love the fact that he has space to roam at the home. Before he went in, he became very agitated when he could not go and wander. Now he has some friends (other residents) to wander with and chat to (as much as he can talk!). The food
is of an extremely high quality and the carers are fantastic - they just get dementia and dementia care. They enter into his world and meet him where he needs to be met. Thank you.

My father came to Coxwell Hall a few months ago now, after being in 2 different homes beforehand in Swindon. From day one we as a family felt so happy with where he was. Coxwell Hall left the two previous homes behind. Their care and understanding for my dad is first class. We all now know that dad
has the best treatment and care we could wish for. They always keep me updated with how dad is feeling.

I'm happy with the care my husband is receiving. The staff are friendly, caring and considerate, and always make you feel very welcome, including the dog.
When I speak with the management, they always reassure and provide the right level of help and support.
Our only concern is clothing seems to
continuously go missing after being laundered, and he has now lost several items and has a mismatch of clothing, for example, 4 PJ sets, now only 1 set.
Reply from Zipporah Magana, Home Manager at Coxwell Hall & Mews Nursing HomeThank you for your lovely review, it is our privilege to care.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.772)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.772) out of 10 for Coxwell Hall & Mews Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.772 for Coxwell Hall & Mews Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (398 Excellents x 5) + (90 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 500 Ratings = 4.772
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Coxwell Hall & Mews Nursing Home is based on 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 43 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Senior carer Joined: 2015

I've worked in Coxwell for 5yrs. What made me want to become a carer is more likely from doing work experience in coxwell before I actually started working there, like observing the staff how they do their job made me more interested especially the way they approach the residents, the different activities they do to entertain them throughout the day and how they help them every day just to achieve their needs.. my heart melts... What I achived throughout is different training such as Virtual dementia training, manual handling, mandatory, first aid training and medication training which helps me throughout my job, and I have passed my NVQ3.
