I cannot praise the staff of Coxwell Hall & Mews Nursing Home enough for the care that was given to my mother while she was with them. They were always friendly and a warm welcome was given on every visit. Nothing was too much trouble. In mums final hours they were very supportive to her but to us as well. We will always be grateful for the care they gave her. It's a care home I would highly recommend.
From the first time my mother went to Coxwell Hall & Mews Nursing Home the staff and surroundings were very welcoming. I found the care that was given was excellent. My mother was kept clean and presentable on all the occasions I visited. The family were warmly welcomed every time. I was kept informed of any changes in my mother's welfare. I cannot fault this home for its care and dedication throughout my mum's stay and especially in her final hours.
My husband is in his second year at this home where has had a diagnosis of dementia in Alzheimer's disease. During a respite stay of 2-3 weeks in 2013 in a different care home he was sectioned under section 3 of the mental health act due to a serious attack on another patient. He came back to my care after 6 months deprivation of liberty and sadly his behaviour had deteriorated, and for his and my own safety he was found a place here,l where he remains.
He was a very difficult patient and I have much respect and admiration for the way in which the staff have managed his challenging behaviour. I can only visit 2 or 3 times a week due to long distance and bus service etc. He is now calm and settled although full body hoisted. He always eats the good home-made meals provided, needing to be fed. I always find him clean and comfortable.
Coxwell Hall have been very welcoming to my mother. A lot of homes that we approached were very wary of taking someone with complex needs that she has, including challenging behaviour. Coxwell were the only home not to be at all phased by this and to take it all in their stride. It is still quite early days but my mother has settled well into the home and speaks positively about the staff and her behaviour is settling down gradually. They also have a totally transparent approach and nothing is concealed from relatives about inspection findings or any other issue. They are open to new ideas and always welcome new training and education opportunities.
We live over 150 miles away from 'Coxwell' but we never had any doubts about leaving her. The staff kept us in touch and were always willing for us to visit at any time.

Home Manager Zippy Magana qualified as a nurse in 2000, gaining much of her experience in hospitals, care homes and within the community, bringing versatility and knowledge from many settings.
During her 8-year tenure at Coxwell Hall prior to her return in 2023, Zippy headed up the project ‘Like a Butterfly’ the results of which set out much of the practice adopted today. She is also qualified to deliver SMI & LD health checks (for people with Severe Mental Illness and Learning Difficulties).

The energy, knowledge and professionalism she injects not only enhances the quality of life for residents, but it is also instrumental in motivating the team, who reflect her dedication, passion and commitment to delivering the highest quality care.
If you can’t find Zippy at Coxwell, then she may be swimming or socialising in the community. She also loves a good read, and if she ever gets to escape, then it’s off travelling to somewhere hot.
