Since my sister was moved to Ashton Lodge over 3 years ago, she has been so well looked after, not only by the Nursing Staff but also by the Admin and Management teams.
Being a complex patient with physical and mental health problems, my sister's needs are met with a lot of love, care, concern and
consideration. If she requires a doctor to attend to her, the Care Home ensure her GP or a Care Home doctor is immediately called to attend to her. Under the Manager's watchful management, Ashton Lodge has continued to improve and grow into a superb, caring location. Where I used to worry day and night about my sister's wellbeing, I am now relaxed and TRUST Ashton Lodge caregivers to look after my sister.
Reply from Mohammad Fauzel, Home Manager/Registered Nurse at Ashton LodgeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartwarming review. Thank you for being a valued part of our Ashton Lodge family. We will be sure to pass your lovely feedback along to the whole team!

Bridge House Nursing Home

from Paul R (Husband of Resident) published on 2 July 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
On the whole, the Home was of a high standard.
The staff were generally very polite and helpful to both my wife and I. Also I would like to thank the management for going out of their way to help and support me, particularly with regard to funding issues.
The room that my wife occupied was good in
terms of space, a nice view (2 windows) and plenty of light. However, initially, there were problems in the room. The TV didn't work for a couple of days and there was a lack of furniture. However, these problems were sorted out by the Home fairly quickly.
The cleanliness in the bathroom was generally satisfactory.
With regard to food and drink, it was difficult to comment because my wife had been having problems with her appetite recently and that was also true in the hospital and when I was cooking for her at home. Anyway, I thought that the food looked good generally but I was particularly impressed by the way the staff tried to improvise with alternative possibilities.
Reply from Rachel Stoneman, Manager at Bridge House Nursing HomeThank you so much for your review, we're pleased you and your wife had a good experience at Bridge House.

My mum has been in the home now, for close to 10 years. The staff here have been so good to her and myself and that has really taken the pressure off of me and I know that when I leave her, to go home, she is in safe hands. You can see the effort and the willingness of the staff and their want and desire
to make things right in their care for her. It truly is wonderful, not just for my mum, but the other residents at the home, that they are treated like family and I am so happy for them and of course my mum. Thank you.

Calm atmosphere. Plenty of focussed, friendly staff. Manager very approachable and confidence inspiring. The so-called 'Receptionist' is more of a hotel front desk person/concierge than a doorkeeper: helpful to visitors.
George Potter House is not a five star hotel but the facilities seem completely
satisfactory. There is a decent sized garden with plenty of seating for fine weather as well the usual general purpose lounge for communal TV watching, music and activities.
So, how is my elderly and somewhat forgetful friend feeling about being there? It took two or three weeks to acclimatise but now she seems not to have a care in the world - apart from making sure she gets to the dining room promptly for mealtimes!
She used to have carers in her own house looking after the basics but, especially with so much time alone, she was becoming increasingly anxious about everyday life - as well somewhat erratic in her behaviour. She is now noticeablely more relaxed and, it seems, settling in to

My father moved from residential care to nursing care in March this year due to increased care needs, which was an emotional and upsetting time for our family. From the first phone call with Marlene about Ashton Lodge, we felt reassured. She was caring, thoughtful, and professional, making a difficult
process much easier for my mum and me.

Since moving in, my father has received outstanding care and support from the entire team. The transition was seamless, and within weeks he was enjoying outings and activities again, which was wonderful to see. There is always something for residents to enjoy, the food is excellent, and the staff have created a routine that fully supports my father's complex needs.

My mum and I could not be happier with the care he receives. Credit must also go to Mohammad for leading such a compassionate and professional team at Ashton Lodge.

Ashton lodge was recommended for Dad to support his advancing dementia. As I walked in, I knew that it would be perfect for Dad. Staff arranged Dad's admission with care & attention & communicated well with my family.

Dad was welcomed to the Ashton family by all staff, each getting to know Dad

on a personal level, to understand his likes, dislikes & mannerisms. They took time to get to know him as an individual; to understand his needs in a holistic way - incorporating his emotional, health and wellbeing needs.

From the friendly smile on arrival, to the in-depth knowledge of the management, everyone plays their part in the Ashton family to ensure that every resident is treated with care, respect and dignity.

The dementia lead, in particular, has an in depth understanding of both dementia & how it has affected each individual in her care & how best to address each symptom & the home manager is highly skilled & happy to help at ground level, to give oversight of day-to-day practice

Our person-centred approach is at the heart of everything we do, and our staff pride themselves on truly understanding each resident's unique personality, history, and holistic wellbeing needs.

I cannot praise this care home enough. After a truly awful experience in a previous care home-where my mother suffered neglect, a fall, and a serious medication error - we were very fortunate to find George Potter House. From day one, my mother began to thrive. The staff go above and beyond in every
way-they are not only professional and caring, but also show genuine kindness and compassion. I want to thank every member of the team-from the nurses and care assistants to the activity coordinators, the kitchen staff, the chef (who took the time to come and speak with me personally about my mother's food intolerances), the cleaning staff, and the admin and reception team-every one of them deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication. I especially want to commend the manager, Lina, who was incredible from day one, always responsive, kind, and caring. She took personal care to hold the room until my mother's transfer was approved. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Went one evening to have a look for our father , immediately felt warm and welcoming, we were shown around and any questions/queries we had were answered with total satisfaction and put us at ease immediately. We accepted on the spot and the following morning he was discharged from hospital to Ashton
lodge. On only being there 12 hours we visited him in the evening and he was already settled in and happy . Everyone is amazing, kind, friendly , very attentive to all our fathers needs and ours. Our words for it is very homely and welcoming, The respect, patience ( and our dad can be impatient) and care they give to each and everyone gives us absolute peace of mind. Dad himself said it is homely .

After seeing several homes for my 97 year old mother, we chose George Potter House after a couple of visits and a trial stay. We immediately liked the bright and positive atmosphere in the home, and I was very impressed with the new manager and all the staff I met. Everyone is so friendly and caring.
Despite not initially wanting to go into a care home, my mother has settled in really well and is very happy there after just a few weeks! There is a beautiful big garden and the atmosphere is light and airy throughout (which is also being refurbished). The activity managers are lovely and my mother has regained the will to live and is walking so much more! Care homes are expensive but I'm reassured to know she's in safe hands and being so well cared for by experienced staff. Her room is bright and airy and the home is clean & well organised. The new manager Lina is great and very experienced, and you can see she wants to create a lovely home for everyone. Thank you to everyone, GPH has changed our life!
Reply from Lena Rehan, Home Manager at George Potter HouseThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. It truly means a great deal to all of us here at George Potter House.
We are delighted to hear that your mother has settled in so well and is feeling happy and comfortable in her new home. Supporting residents to regain their independence, confidence, and enjoyment of life is at the heart of what we do, so it is especially rewarding to hear that she is walking more and engaging with daily life again.
Your comments about our team, the atmosphere within the home, and the environment we are continuing to improve are greatly appreciated. I will be sure to share your kind words with all staff, particularly our activities team, who work hard to create meaningful and enjoyable experiences for our residents.
It is also reassuring to know that you feel confident in the care being provided. Thank you for the trust and we are honoured to be given the opportunity to care for your mother.
