I reviewed Ashton Lodge in July last year after my Mother had been there for 4 months and had nothing but praise for all of the staff there. Sadly my mother passed away on the 27th February 2026, so this is a review at the end of our experience. My mum was so well looked after in the 11 months that
she had been there. Her care at all times was exceptional. I was kept informed at all times with updates on her condition.

I was allowed to spend her last night with her in the Nursing Home and was with her when she passed away peacefully. All the staff made this very hard time so much easier, it was a very calm experience .I will forever be thankful for the kindness, care and Dignity that they showed to my Mother in her last few hours.

Mohammed and all the staff, every single one of them make Ashton Lodge such a welcoming place. Their professionalism, kindness and level of care is outstanding. I am just so thankful that we chose this homely, Nursing Home for my Mother last year.

Our brother had to be quickly discharged from hospital so was sent to Ashton Lodge as a temporary stop gap.
On arrival he was immediately attended to by caring and expert staff. They made him feel special. He was instantly made comfortable, they fed him lunch straight away, they checked all his medications
and up-coming hospital appointments and took over organising the transport .They registered him with a local GP immediately. We didn't have to do a thing.
After this fabulous first impression, we realised over the next month how wonderful a place it is. They pre-empt every need and are so caring and professional at all times, sending or answering emails brilliantly. Every staff member we have met is exceptionally kind and caring, from receptionist to manager
We asked the social worker if there was any chance he could stay at Ashton lodge permanently. We prayed so hard.
Eventually our wish has come true. Thankyou everyone. Peace of mind means everything to us. He is happy at last.

The care home is very welcoming and good overall. People are good, friendly and helpful. One of my family members are residing over there and he's been treated well. Just require a little bit of more attention towards him from the carers as he's having a bit of serious trauma and injury which led to
him in this condition. The staff is good but I think carers could be more helpful and attentive. Overall, all good from my side.

Since my dad has been in the home he has had a great experience, he feels very settled, which in turn helps me to feel happy he's being looked after well.
All the staff are pleasant, friendly & dad loves having a little bit of banter with them.
I cannot praise the home enough, everyone from management
to cleaners are so polite & always take time to chat, both to dad & myself.
They know me by first name & im starting to know a few more names myself of the staff, we have a chat either in passing or when im sitting with dad.
Im kept up to date with dad's appointments etc & on occasion where dad has needed a doctor, one has been to see him very promptly.
Im looking forward to going on one of the seaside trips with dad that the home have organised for residents.
Reply from Michelle David, Manager at Ashton LodgeThank you so much for your kind words. We're so pleased to hear that your dad feels settled and happy, means the world to us. Over the last month, my uncle's health has deteriorated, his conditions evolvement has been explained and when we press management, they do respond.
Unfortunately, everytime we visit, he's thirsty and hungry, the only answer are that he doesn't want to eat or drink.
No input or output chart available,
so as it's £1500 per week, where is the care and time given to help him.
Reply from Michelle David, Manager at Ashton LodgeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your concerns and appreciate you bringing them to our attention.Following your feedback, we immediately investigated the matters raised and took prompt action to address them. We worked closely with the care team to ensure your uncle received the attention and support needed, and adjustments were made accordingly. We recognise that your uncle's care needs were complex and evolving, and our team endeavoured to provide the highest standard of care under the circumstances. We are pleased that you expressed your satisfaction with the actions taken, and we remain committed to ensuring continued improvements in communication and responsiveness. It is a worrying, stressful time searching for a home for a family member. We were struck by the commitment from the manager and her team to make Ashton Lodge a real home.
This desire and ambition from the top permeates the building.
The atmosphere is always calm despite the challenging behaviour
of some of the residents. The staff are warm, patient and kind, addressing all by their first names. Ashton Lodge is a welcoming, and enthusiastic place. The manager is readily available and her office door is open. My brother tells me he is happy with everything and gives every impression of being so. His wishes are always respected. The food menu is imaginative and well-cooked. It is served and cleared in a positive, jolly manner. It is obvious that the residents enjoy their mealtimes, sitting around small tables. The staff have made a real effort to create a cafe-like space. The medical care has been first rate and the family are emailed promptly should there be anything to report.
Reply from Michelle David, Manager at Ashton LodgeDear Christine, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and provide such a detailed and heartwarming review of Ashton Lodge. We are truly delighted to hear that your brother is happy and comfortable with the care and support he is receiving. We are also pleased that you appreciate the imaginative and well-prepared meals, as well as the effort put into creating a relaxed, cafe-like dining space for our residents. Ensuring that mealtimes are an enjoyable and social experience is a priority for us. Your kind words about the staff's warmth, professionalism and attentiveness will be shared with the entire team, as feedback like this inspires us to continue providing the best care possible. Thank you again for your thoughtful review and for entrusting us with your brother's care. If you have any further feedback or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

It was an outstanding service no two words about it! 1st impression, meeting the management was unexplainable to share in words. Very approachable, understanding, full of empathy, great attitude. You don't find it in many places where people want to help and go that extra mile, is my experience. They
supported us immensely in the most crucial time of our need to house my sister during a short emergency visit overseas.
Also to mention the welcoming staff were professional and the whole 2 weeks experience was peaceful and we had peace of mind while we were away. The entire staff was very caring, warm and amazing people in person and on the phone. I never saw anybody stressed but beautiful smiles on their faces. Very inviting and great attitude among all. After all the most important thing was my sister being happy there.

Mum settled in lovely to the home in January. The staff and care have been superb and mum is really happy. The facilities are good too. The place is really welcoming and everyone is so friendly. The food is fab and the activities are good for my mum who can be a bit challenging at times. I looked at
a few homes but this one was by far the best and hasn't let us down. I was always so anxious about Mum's care in the past as it wasn't great, however this home I know I can trust them to look after her well. I have been able to go away for a week, knowing she was in good hands.
Well done to the team there. It's a lovely place to live and to go and visit your loved ones.

Ashton Lodge staff overall were friendly, welcoming and always happy to help! We were lucky enough to get recommended this care home for my grandad, where he enjoyed the company of staff, who made him smile and laugh everyday. It's not a 5 star hotel but it is homely with good day trips out and fun
activities daily. Generally food was always delicious and varied! We were always contacted and felt listened to. Thank you for your loving care.

My father has been a resident at Ashton Lodge since March 2024.
I speak on behalf of myself and the entire family when we say that we are extremely happy with the care our father has received during his time. Although he can be difficult sometimes, they treat him with respect and have so much patience.
All
of the staff are always very happy and take time to have a chat about my father and how he has been if we are not able to visit him as often as we would like.
The food is always hot and varied, from breakfast to supper time.
I visited my father at a time when there was a singer entertaining the residents, she was brilliant and very engaging with everyone.
We are always kept updated by all of the staff, from receiving a phone call or by passing one of the nursing team, with any issues that may of arisen.
We cannot fault the care our father is receiving and it is very comforting to know that when we are not able to visit, we know he is receiving the best possible care and attention.

We visit my father frequently at Ashton Lodge and every time we are greeted warmly by staff. I appreciate that it's not set within acres of greenery and it may not look modern from the outside, but that is not as important as the service provided by the care team which has been great.
The staff look
after all my father's needs and he has a good relationship with several team members.
The professionalism of Ashton Lodge's care team has shown me that it's imperative for those dealing with dementia patients, to have knowledge of the condition including how to react when there's a dementia-induced flare-up.
It's unfortunate, despite dementia being in the headlines, most people just don't understand this devastating illness nor how to interact with dementia patients.
Patience and sincere knowledge-based care is what patients need - holding their hands through this immensely challenging time.
Keep up the good work Ashton Lodge!

The care home managers and staff are exceptional. They work with some of the most challenging patients and continue to perform their roles with a smile on their faces and a positive attitude. They always make extra efforts to make a connection with my father, the patient with dementia, and with the
family when we visit weekly. I cannot recommend the staff more highly and a big thank you to the manager and one member of staff in particular and all the team for making such a challenging condition so much smoother and their team members give us invaluable peace of mind. My father really enjoys the communal approach, the activities and being with other patients like him, I am so grateful for all the efforts and for even taking the time to understand the sometimes-challenging family dynamics which can come when you have a family member with dementia, something only dementia carers understand.

Since being moved to Ashton Lodge during Covid the home team has offered excellent care and is kind, patient and understanding towards our mum.
Whilst the drive and entrance to the home may not have the best kerb appeal the home team more than make up for this with their attitude towards every resident
being treated as a person with their own individual needs.
The team works hard to make sure the home is well maintained and always well presented and each member of the team makes sure they know each resident so there is always a friendly smile and word or two for anyone that needs it. Whilst we may not have been able to choose the home due to circumstances when it was needed, we feel very lucky that Mum is cared for so well.
