I am delighted to have been the Registered Manager at Robertson Nursing Home since January 2023, after taking on the role of Home Manager in 2021. During my time as Home Manager, I am so proud to have witnessed how far the home has come, even seeing the Robertson team named as ‘Team of the Year’ at the 2024 Surrey Care Awards.
I hadn’t worked in care before coming to the UK in 2010, in my home country of Hungary I achieved a bachelor's diploma in Sales and Marketing. The care sector was very different for me at first, but I always like to challenge myself. I absorbed all the knowledge I needed working alongside the former home manager and was given the opportunity to utilise my skills, which helped me to develop in my role.
Working flexibly after having my children was a great advantage. This allowed and helped me to continue to gain leadership skills, confidence in dealing with difficult situations, and enabled me to create an excellent team by recruiting staff with the right values.
What I enjoy most about working at Robertson Nursing Home is having the opportunity to work alongside an inspiring team, as well as receiving support from my fellow managers at our sister homes within Beritaz Care.
I joined the Robertson team in 2023, having worked at their sister home, Ashton Manor since 2014. I am proud to have taken on the role of Support Manager at Robertson.
Before coming to England I had never worked in care and had zero knowledge of the industry, I didn’t know what to expect and my English was very poor. I needn’t have worried, from the get-go I was greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome by the entire Beritaz family. The caring, considerate managers and the values of their homes make you want to do well. During my time with Beritaz Care, I have had the opportunity to improve my English and take part in training and qualifications to further my skills.
The residents are great and because we use a person-centred approach, respect them, consistently meet their needs and provide a friendly, caring, trusting and peaceful environment where they feel safe.
I started my career as a nurse in an orphanage, caring for around 100 children, while also studying English in my spare time. I then went to work in a hospital where I spent eight years. My time at the hospital was wonderful, even though the work was very hard. During this time, I spent four years studying management and marketing for four years, growing my professional abilities. I decided I wanted a new challenge, so made the decision to come to England to work as a nurse.
I joined Robertson Nursing Home in 2012. My first year at Robertson was difficult, I was still learning the language and settling into my new life. My confidence increased thanks to the massive support I received from Beritaz Care and all the staff at Robertson. I appreciate them very much and feel like I have become part of a big family, where we are all working hard and moving forward together.
As part of my role, as Clinical Lead, I ensure we provide the best quality of clinical care to our residents. End of life care is a particular passion of mine, finding ways for myself and the nursing team to provide compassionate care to residents and their families during those difficult times. At Robertson Nursing Home, we all want to improve the quality of life for our residents and their families, that’s the goal we all share.
I spent three years in medical college in my native Bulgaria, studying to become a general nurse. I worked in various departments including endocrinology, trauma and orthopaedics before coming to England. I worked as Senior Care Assistant at Springkell House (a Beritaz Care home), before being given the opportunity to move to Robertson Nursing Home to continue in my profession as a Nurse.
I am very blessed to be with a company willing to support me, provide guidance and help me acquire valuable skills and confidence. I am continuing to enjoy my work; I feel welcomed and supported. I love the friendly environment and atmosphere of the home. I know my manager is always there for me, and that will give me the best possible help and advice when it comes to developing my career.
I have been part of the nursing team at Robertson Nursing Home since 2017. Ever since I was a little girl, I said I wanted to be a nurse. My mum was a nurse, which influenced me so much growing up. I enjoy working with people, that’s a big part of why I love doing what I do. Before coming to Robertson I had worked in other nursing homes and spent some time working in hospitals.
My role at the home involves looking after our residents and contributing to their care, as well as assisting and supervising the care staff. When I look at the residents and see they are happy and that the carers are treating them well, that makes me very glad. It’s important to all of us that the residents are treated as if they are in their own home and are able to make their own choices, they feel comfortable and have their independence here. I really enjoy working at Robertson, the home environment, the teamwork and the relationships I get to build with the residents make it an enjoyable place to come to work each day.
I have been a part of the Robertson Nursing Home team since 2018, before that I worked as a nurse in Romania for 12 years. I began working at the home as a Care Assistant before moving into the role of Team Leader after 3 years. I support the team working on the floor, overseeing new admissions and keeping our residents’ care plans up to date, as well as many other tasks. I find the work very interesting, every day is different here which I like but I never know where the time goes.
I loved working closely with the residents as a Care Assistant, but at the same time, as a Team Leader I feel like I can have more influence over their care and am involved in creating plans for better care. As a Team Leader I get to make the residents’ lives better in a different kind of way and make sure their dignity is being upheld. We are a family here, we help each other out and work well as a team. It’s the same atmosphere in all the Beritaz homes, there is a family feel throughout.
I really enjoy my job, at the start it felt very different to my experience working as a nurse and I was quite scared. Looking back, I can now see how far I have come and how much confidence I have gained in my time at Robertson. I have grown up since I came here and my time at the home has helped me to grow in many ways.
I became a carer at Robertson Nursing Home 15 years ago. In that time I have achieved NVQ Levels 2 & 3 in health care; I’m also a Dementia Champion and I became a Team Leader (and Senior Carer in 2015). I enjoy working at the Robertson Nursing Home because it is like an extended family; it gives me a sense of pride knowing we are all doing our very best to give our residents what they deserve.
As soon as I started working in the care industry, I understood the feeling of fulfilment you get knowing you are helping people and contributing to society. I have been a Care Assistant at Robertson since the summer of 2022 and immediately found it to be a very affectionate role.
I really enjoy talking to the residents and getting to know them more and more every single day, as well as the bonds that we naturally build over time. My job is all about looking after the residents and their care needs. Everyone here has different abilities and mobility needs, it can be challenging at times but is rewarding too. You have to be very careful, it’s not a normal job as it involves caring for other people, empathy is so important.
Teamwork is key to what we do, without proper teamwork and communication it’s impossible to provide good care. That’s what make Robertson so different and what works so well here, it’s all about the teamwork.
I joined the team at Robertson Nursing Home in January 2013 and felt so at home from the start. Through the opportunities for study provided at the home, I was able to achieve my NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. I was promoted to the role of Home Administrator in September 2022, which is a role I really enjoy and has enabled me to develop my administrative skills.
I love the Robertson team, it feels like a family. I enjoy working here and I think the best thing about the experience, as other members of the team often say, is how much support I’ve received from everyone at the home.
I’m one of the longest serving members of staff at Robertson Nursing Home having first started in the early in 1990’s. Prior to starting to work in care at the age of 16, I worked at Unsted Park on a YTS Scheme, but care work ran in the family, both my mum and sister worked as carers which inspired me to do the same.
Robertson Nursing Home is like a second family, there is always someone to talk to. I enjoy my work and despite living with Dyslexia I achieved NVQ level 2 & 3 qualifications, I couldn’t have done this without the continued support of the team.
I now work as part of the kitchen team as a Cook and Kitchen Assistant, a role which I really enjoy. Robertson Nursing Home is a friendly place to work, everyone is helpful, you will always be supported by everyone, from management to fellow team members.
I have had a varied career, working in the building trade, as a lorry driver, working in an abattoir, working in sales and prior to starting work at Robertson Nursing Home, I worked as a senior carer in another care home.
I am the home’s maintenance man, using the skills I picked up in my early career. This is a varied role and every day can be different. The training on offer is great and has personally given me the opportunity to grow and learn new skills.
I particularly enjoy driving the company minibus and taking residents from Robertson, as well as from our sister homes, on outings to various places in the local area. I would encourage anyone to come and work at Robertson Nursing Home, it’s a great place to work, we have a great team of staff who work together really well in a family atmosphere.
I am a Senior Care Assistant at Robertson Nursing Home and have been a member of the team here since 2021. I enjoy taking care of people, so working in care felt like a good fit for me. It’s a job I really like. I am also naturally very patient, which I think is a useful trait when working as a carer.
After being on maternity leave, I returned to the home and in January 2025, I began training as a Senior Care Assistant. I work partially on the floor with the residents while also working supernumerary hours to develop my skills. The part I enjoy most about my job is interacting with the residents, supporting them, and making sure that they are comfortable and happy.
Working at Robertson has been a really good experience. I am so happy to work here. The home as a whole is like a family, we all help one another and pitch in when anything is needed.
