Robertson Nursing Home, is a warm and welcoming nursing home set in beautiful landscaped gardens. The home is located close to the picturesque Surrey Hills countryside and within easy reach of Godalming, Guildford and the A3.

The home takes a compassionate approach to the personal care and attention of older people, giving them real quality of life in a homely setting. Accommodation is available to residents in the form of single and double rooms, many with adapted en-suite facilities.

Robertson Nursing Home is part of Beritaz Care, a dynamic family-owned group with extensive experience and a reputation for providing the highest level of care and support, the same kind of care that they would want for their own relatives. In 2024, the Robertson team were named Team of the Year at the Surrey Care Awards.

The home provides a variety of care services to meet the needs of residents, including both residential and nursing care. Long-term care is offered as well as short-term respite care, day care, convalescent care and palliative care. Robertson is the most wonderful nursing home. Our mother has been a resident for six months now and is so content that she thinks she is in her own home. Every one of the staff is so thoughtful and caring. They all seem to have taken time to find out who mum really is her likes and dislikes. She is
treated with respect and dignity. Robertson has provided massive relief for us all at a tricky time. A fantastic place.

With my brother, we visited a number of care homes before choosing Roberton Nursing Home for our mother, as we felt that she was no longer able to live alone. For us, Robertson Nursing Home ticked many boxes. We feel strongly that what matters most is human care, kindness and respect of residents dignity.
The staff are warm, friendly and very patient. They definitely have a sense of humour too.
The management and nursing staff seem very competent. It would be great if it was possible to let residents have more access to various facilities for stimulation.

My mother had been a resident for just over a year before her death in July. The care she received was first class. Staff at all levels treated her as they would their own family, and my mother loved it there. Despite occasional challenging behaviour on my mother's part, the love given to her was unwavering.
Her death was handled with love and dignity. I can't speak highly enough of the home as a whole.

My mother enjoys the comfort and friendliness offered, feeling secure and cared for. Every room is individual and residents are encouraged to live with as many familiar items of furniture/pictures as possible to make it as homely as required. She arrived feeling lonely and with little self-esteem -
now enjoying the company of other residents and staff, feeling much part of the community with the home.

My mother was only resident at Robertson Nursing Home for 6 weeks. It was her very first time in a nursing home apart from a short stay in a very large modern home. She found Robertson Nursing Home to be a very homely welcoming place to be and was very happy there. The staff were all extremely helpful
and sympathetic and made her feel welcome and at home. Unfortunately, it was discovered (by a very attentive senior nurse) that mum had a large growth in her chest which eventually she died from. I found the staff to be extremely gentle and sympathetic in dealing with both my mother and the entire family and we felt instantly confident in leaving mum in their hands. They became part of our family and we will miss them.

My Grandmother initially went into Robertson Nursing Home at the age of 97 as my Mother could no longer care for her. Already very ill, she slipped away within six weeks during which time I have never met such a group of wonderful, caring people as I did there. I cannot fault their commitment and friendly
attitude toward both residents and their families. It was so difficult to put our loved one in the hands of strangers at first but all the staff quickly made her feel safe and cared for, even after keeping her independence for all her years, within a couple of weeks she referred to Robertson as 'home'. During her last few days when we spent many hours sitting with her, we were cared for and looked after by the staff and management with such affection. I would wholeheartedly recommend this home for those looking for a home away from home for their loved one.

As a family, we cannot thank the nurses and staff for the wonderful care, kindness and affection they gave to my father in his last months at Robertson. As difficult a decision as it was at the time, we knew it was the best place for dad to be and we feel that he knew that too and the care he received
gave him those extra few weeks with us.


Everyone there has been a great support to me, my mother and our family and I will not forget the kindness and compassion that was shown to us all.

I have great admiration for the wonderful staff and carers. Their kindness and caring attitude far exceeds expectations. My mother receives constant attention and human interaction with cups of tea and very excellent food. The food is of a high quality and lovingly home made, fresh and well presented.
The entertainment is so good that I try to come and watch as well. Robertson's care for my mother much better than I could possibly do myself and for which I will be forever grateful. Thank you.

Due to distance (I live in Bristol) I am unable to visit my mother on a regular basis, but following recent visits, I have nothing but praise and ultimate trust in the staff for the care they give my mother. I know that she is well looked after and very happy and settled.

From the moment I arrived here I didn't want to come to a home but after being here I completely changed my mind. The tender loving care of all the staff made me feel as though I had come into a lovely family. Nothing is too much trouble and the smiles and affection that we receive make you feel that
you are needed and wanted. A little pat on the shoulder and a gentle squeeze of the hand gives you peace and confidence. I find the home is run very well. The staff are very attentive. I can't find the words to praise the home and staff and I consider myself very fortunate to be in such a haven of peace. If I was the queen I could not be treated better.

Robertson is an old, quirky building not purpose built so rooms can be small and without full en-suite facilities. The staff are excellent caring and efficient. My husband has not settled happily but this is not down to the caring staff. There is a qualified nurse there at all times which is another

My husband stayed at the Robertson for respite care, it was a great relief to know that he was being looked after by such caring people. Previously he had attended for day care so I knew some of the staff. We are always greeted by now with a friendly smile. The food is good and well presented and suitable

When my mother was transferred from hospital to start her life again in a nursing home, she was very frightened of what was to happen to her, but all she received from the staff was kindness and they seem to care what her views were.
They were also always ready to listen to her family's concerns and
they always seemed to have a suggestion to offer us. So pleased that I had placed my mother in their tender loving care.

Gabriella

Gabriella Konczol

Job Title: Registered Manager

I am delighted to have been the Registered Manager at Robertson Nursing Home since January 2023, after taking on the role of Home Manager in 2021. During my time as Home Manager, I am so proud to have witnessed how far the home has come, even seeing the Robertson team named as ‘Team of the Year’ at the 2024 Surrey Care Awards.


I hadn’t worked in care before coming to the UK in 2010, in my home country of Hungary I achieved a bachelor's diploma in Sales and Marketing. The care sector was very different for me at first, but I always like to challenge myself. I absorbed all the knowledge I needed working alongside the former home manager and was given the opportunity to utilise my skills, which helped me to develop in my role.


Working flexibly after having my children was a great advantage. This allowed and helped me to continue to gain leadership skills, confidence in dealing with difficult situations, and enabled me to create an excellent team by recruiting staff with the right values.


What I enjoy most about working at Robertson Nursing Home is having the opportunity to work alongside an inspiring team, as well as receiving support from my fellow managers at our sister homes within Beritaz Care.

I joined the Robertson team in 2023, having worked at their sister home, Ashton Manor since 2014. I am proud to have taken on the role of Support Manager at Robertson.


Before coming to England I had never worked in care and had zero knowledge of the industry, I didn’t know what to expect and my English was very poor. I needn’t have worried, from the get-go I was greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome by the entire Beritaz family. The caring, considerate managers and the values of their homes make you want to do well. During my time with Beritaz Care, I have had the opportunity to improve my English and take part in training and qualifications to further my skills.


The residents are great and because we use a person-centred approach, respect them, consistently meet their needs and provide a friendly, caring, trusting and peaceful environment where they feel safe.

Angela Mihaescu

Job Title: Clinical Lead Joined: 2014

I started my career as a nurse in an orphanage, caring for around 100 children, while also studying English in my spare time. I then went to work in a hospital where I spent eight years. My time at the hospital was wonderful, even though the work was very hard. During this time, I spent four years studying management and marketing for four years, growing my professional abilities. I decided I wanted a new challenge, so made the decision to come to England to work as a nurse.


I joined Robertson Nursing Home in 2012. My first year at Robertson was difficult, I was still learning the language and settling into my new life. My confidence increased thanks to the massive support I received from Beritaz Care and all the staff at Robertson. I appreciate them very much and feel like I have become part of a big family, where we are all working hard and moving forward together.


As part of my role, as Clinical Lead, I ensure we provide the best quality of clinical care to our residents. End of life care is a particular passion of mine, finding ways for myself and the nursing team to provide compassionate care to residents and their families during those difficult times. At Robertson Nursing Home, we all want to improve the quality of life for our residents and their families, that’s the goal we all share.

Job Title: Registered Nurse

I spent three years in medical college in my native Bulgaria, studying to become a general nurse. I worked in various departments including endocrinology, trauma and orthopaedics before coming to England. I worked as Senior Care Assistant at Springkell House (a Beritaz Care home), before being given the opportunity to move to Robertson Nursing Home to continue in my profession as a Nurse.


I am very blessed to be with a company willing to support me, provide guidance and help me acquire valuable skills and confidence. I am continuing to enjoy my work; I feel welcomed and supported. I love the friendly environment and atmosphere of the home. I know my manager is always there for me, and that will give me the best possible help and advice when it comes to developing my career.

Caroline Ngwenya

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2017

I have been part of the nursing team at Robertson Nursing Home since 2017. Ever since I was a little girl, I said I wanted to be a nurse. My mum was a nurse, which influenced me so much growing up. I enjoy working with people, that’s a big part of why I love doing what I do. Before coming to Robertson I had worked in other nursing homes and spent some time working in hospitals.


My role at the home involves looking after our residents and contributing to their care, as well as assisting and supervising the care staff. When I look at the residents and see they are happy and that the carers are treating them well, that makes me very glad. It’s important to all of us that the residents are treated as if they are in their own home and are able to make their own choices, they feel comfortable and have their independence here. I really enjoy working at Robertson, the home environment, the teamwork and the relationships I get to build with the residents make it an enjoyable place to come to work each day.

Job Title: Team Leader Joined: 2018

I have been a part of the Robertson Nursing Home team since 2018, before that I worked as a nurse in Romania for 12 years. I began working at the home as a Care Assistant before moving into the role of Team Leader after 3 years. I support the team working on the floor, overseeing new admissions and keeping our residents’ care plans up to date, as well as many other tasks. I find the work very interesting, every day is different here which I like but I never know where the time goes.


I loved working closely with the residents as a Care Assistant, but at the same time, as a Team Leader I feel like I can have more influence over their care and am involved in creating plans for better care. As a Team Leader I get to make the residents’ lives better in a different kind of way and make sure their dignity is being upheld. We are a family here, we help each other out and work well as a team. It’s the same atmosphere in all the Beritaz homes, there is a family feel throughout.


I really enjoy my job, at the start it felt very different to my experience working as a nurse and I was quite scared. Looking back, I can now see how far I have come and how much confidence I have gained in my time at Robertson. I have grown up since I came here and my time at the home has helped me to grow in many ways.

I became a carer at Robertson Nursing Home 15 years ago. In that time I have achieved NVQ Levels 2 & 3 in health care; I’m also a Dementia Champion and I became a Team Leader (and Senior Carer in 2015). I enjoy working at the Robertson Nursing Home because it is like an extended family; it gives me a sense of pride knowing we are all doing our very best to give our residents what they deserve.

As soon as I started working in the care industry, I understood the feeling of fulfilment you get knowing you are helping people and contributing to society. I have been a Care Assistant at Robertson since the summer of 2022 and immediately found it to be a very affectionate role.


I really enjoy talking to the residents and getting to know them more and more every single day, as well as the bonds that we naturally build over time. My job is all about looking after the residents and their care needs. Everyone here has different abilities and mobility needs, it can be challenging at times but is rewarding too. You have to be very careful, it’s not a normal job as it involves caring for other people, empathy is so important.


Teamwork is key to what we do, without proper teamwork and communication it’s impossible to provide good care. That’s what make Robertson so different and what works so well here, it’s all about the teamwork.

Through the opportunities for study provided at the home, I was able to achieve my NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. I was promoted to the role of Home Administrator in September 2022, which is a role I really enjoy and has enabled me to develop my administrative skills.


I love the Robertson team, it feels like a family. I enjoy working here and I think the best thing about the experience, as other members of the team often say, is how much support I’ve received from everyone at the home.

Job Title: Cook/Kitchen Assistant

I’m one of the longest serving members of staff at Robertson Nursing Home having first started in the early in 1990’s. Prior to starting to work in care at the age of 16, I worked at Unsted Park on a YTS Scheme, but care work ran in the family, both my mum and sister worked as carers which inspired me to do the same.


Robertson Nursing Home is like a second family, there is always someone to talk to. I enjoy my work and despite living with Dyslexia I achieved NVQ level 2 & 3 qualifications, I couldn’t have done this without the continued support of the team.


I now work as part of the kitchen team as a Cook and Kitchen Assistant, a role which I really enjoy. Robertson Nursing Home is a friendly place to work, everyone is helpful, you will always be supported by everyone, from management to fellow team members.

Job Title: Maintenance

I have had a varied career, working in the building trade, as a lorry driver, working in an abattoir, working in sales and prior to starting work at Robertson Nursing Home, I worked as a senior carer in another care home.


I am the home’s maintenance man, using the skills I picked up in my early career. This is a varied role and every day can be different. The training on offer is great and has personally given me the opportunity to grow and learn new skills.


I particularly enjoy driving the company minibus and taking residents from Robertson, as well as from our sister homes, on outings to various places in the local area. I would encourage anyone to come and work at Robertson Nursing Home, it’s a great place to work, we have a great team of staff who work together really well in a family atmosphere.

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant Joined: 2021

I am a Senior Care Assistant at Robertson Nursing Home and have been a member of the team here since 2021. I enjoy taking care of people, so working in care felt like a good fit for me. It’s a job I really like. I am also naturally very patient, which I think is a useful trait when working as a carer.


After being on maternity leave, I returned to the home and in January 2025, I began training as a Senior Care Assistant. I work partially on the floor with the residents while also working supernumerary hours to develop my skills. The part I enjoy most about my job is interacting with the residents, supporting them, and making sure that they are comfortable and happy.


Working at Robertson has been a really good experience. I am so happy to work here. The home as a whole is like a family, we all help one another and pitch in when anything is needed.
