My mother was offered a place at The Westerleigh after a serious fall. My family have been really happy with the support she has received and have been kept up to date when my mother has been Ill. The staff have been friendly and kind and she has been very well cared for. During the summer she has been taken out for drinks on the beach and on the whole my mother appears happy. My mothers only complaints have been about food but this has nothing to do with the meals provided, it has to do with her dietary requirements . We take my mother out ourselves every few weeks as the home doesn't have a minibus but there are a lot of parties and activities going on within the home.

We are delighted to hear that your Mother is being very well cared for at Westerleigh and that you have been kept up to date and your Mother appears happy here. We understand your Mother's dietary requirements can lead to some disappointment for her when she cannot have certain items on the menu, and we remain committed to offering the widest range of options whilst meeting her dietary needs. Please do continue always to feel free to talk with us about any ways in which we can enrich your Mother's life here at Westerleigh. Thank you again for your kind words, they are greatly appreciated and will be shared with all of our colleagues.

The building, although not modern, has a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. My mother's room was light and airy with a nice view out onto Seaford Head. She settled in quickly, especially when she started going for lunch with other residents in the common rooms, where entertainment and activities are provided.
My mother always had a good appetite, and she was very happy with the meals and snacks on offer.
I cannot praise the staff highly enough. They provided a full care service in an unfailingly friendly, empathetic manner. They greeted visitors at any time of the day with a smile and a welcome.
If I had to do it over, I would choose Westerleigh again without hesitation.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad that your Mother's time with us was good and that you would chose Westerleigh again without hesitation. It was our pleasure to care for your Mother and your lovely comments regarding our colleagues are most appreciated by us all.

She enjoyed her rickshaw rides which were great fun.
I would be happy for her to return, as I have every confidence in her care, the staff and the facilities. Westerleigh certainly provides a safe environment.
Thoroughly recommend.

Thank you for your lovely review of our home. We are very pleased to learn of your feelings about Westerleigh Nursing Home and our great staff team, so kind of you to have posted this review, thank you.
Both of my parents were cared for at Westerleigh in the last months of their lives. We selected the home for my father, with his consent, because of the excellent care my Mother had received seven years ago. Due to the nature of the building (a converted house) it is not as 'flashy' as some newer...
There is a wide choice of food at mealtimes and a range of social activities, for those who wish to take part. The (many) staff are all very friendly and seem to genuinely care about the residents. Being a nursing home, there are always nurses on duty, who were very good at keeping me updated on my father and his medical needs. If you are looking for a nursing home for a relative I would recommend contacting Westerleigh.
We were grateful to have had the opportunity to care for both of your Parents, thank you for leaving us such a lovely review, your kind words mean a lot to all of us here at Westerleigh.

We were so pleased that you were able to join your loved one for Christmas here at Westerleigh and also in the run up to the big day itself, when as you say there was lots of fun and entertainment, about which we had some lovely feedback from Residents, their families and friends. We are so fortunate to have such a talented team of colleagues here, including an awesome catering team, who go the distance and more to make sure Residents get the things they like to eat and drink, they say there is so much choice it can be difficult to make a decision! Thank you for your lovely comments and as a team we really appreciate you taking the time and trouble to let us know how very pleasant Christmas was for you both, and to thank us.
My Aunt Is very well cared for here. There are always plenty of staff. Most importantly everyone I've met here has the winning combination of being competent and caring. Being able to visit at virtually any time is great.

It is our pleasure to care for your Aunt, we care deeply for each and every Resident with us here at Westerleigh and do all we can to make their experience as personalised as we can. Thank you again.

All the staff from management, nursing and ancillary were very kind and caring towards dad and his daily needs and his comfort were of paramount importance to them.
The support they provided to us as a family was amazing, especially in dad's final few hours.
I have no hesitation on recommending them to anyone looking for compassionate care for their loved one.

The leadership team and our colleagues are so appreciative of your review as we endeavour to look after not only the residents themselves but their family and friends too, to provide truly holistic and wrap around care and we are privileged to have had the opportunity to care for your father. As you rightly say, we are underway with updating the interior environment and are pleased to have now completed phases one and two, and are actively working on phase three, it is already looking more modern and appealing, and we are pleased to have had positive comments from recent visitors. Thank you again for your review, it means so much to us as a team.

Kevin. Thank you for your positive review and recommendation about Westerleigh Nursing Home and we are delighted that you find our colleagues friendly and caring, and that the food is good. We all strive here to offer the best possible care and support and it is a whole team approach, that in addition to the Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants, includes our Head Cook and their team along with our other colleagues. It is great that we get such regular and excellent feedback about the food offered at Westerleigh, as you know, there is such a choice of meals and snacks it is often difficult to decide what to have. Our 24-hour availability of meals and snacks is a real bonus for residents who do not always want three full meals a day, so they can choose the lighter meal options and then have a snack when they like.

They are one of the most friendly homes I have visited and they truly put the care back into 'care home', which can often be impersonal and clinical 'waiting rooms'. It is a home from home and the staff have been wonderful.

Westerleigh isn't the swankiest of care...
Westerleigh isn't the swankiest of care homes, but the care staff are marvellous, the nursing care of a very high standard, and it's evident that the staff care a great deal for the residents. Minor miracles are worked in the kitchen on what must be a relatively restricted budget, and the activities team comes up with all sorts of ideas for keeping residents engaged and entertained.
It was a comfort to know that both my parents were in such capable, professional and caring hands for their final years. Real interest is taken by the staff in both the residents' needs and their earlier lives and interests. It's always difficult seeing a loved one go into a home, but Westerleigh allayed any anxieties we had. Unhesitatingly recommended!

Sadly, both parents have now passed on, but I am utterly convinced they both received the best care possible.
The home may not necessarily look great, especially compared to all the newly built ones. But the care that is given, even to the extended family, is first-rate.

My father died five weeks ago. The staff in the run-up to his death were exceptional. They fed me and offered me a room to stay in so that I could spend the last few days with my dad, as I did not live locally. What I witnessed, (staying there for six whole days and nights) was how genuinely caring and kind the staff were. Their patience and kindness shone through, and they are all a testament to the care system.
My mum continues in their care, and they have been absolutely wonderful with her after her husband of 62 years died.
All credit to them all!

I felt reassured that mum was in the best possible place as it is the staff that makes a place. During lockdown, we were kept informed and encouraged to drop off letters and chat over the 'phone. During the last couple of weeks of mum's life, we were allowed to visit at any time without restrictions. Again, the staff were lovely to the end and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to everyone at Westerleigh, the nurses, carers, cooks and cleaners for carrying out a difficult job with kindness and humour.

Thank you so much from all of us on the staff team here at Westerleigh for your lovely review of your Mother's care here at Westerleigh, together with our relationship with you and your family, we really appreciate your comments and observations. My colleagues are thrilled at what you have said about the care, as you say, it is a real team effort and we strive to offer truly holistic care, embracing the resident and their family from admission to departure, and all the stages in between. Our ethos of care shines through in your review, we are a diverse team, but the common link is that we truly care. When we recruit for new team members we actively seek people who are kind and caring, we can give them the skills they need, but the starting point is to have a caring and kind attitude. Thank you again for your charming review.

I have always found the staff very professional and caring, nothing seems too much trouble, he was always spoken to and treated with dignity. The welcome my father received when he first took up residence in Westerleigh was excellent and continued until his passing. I have nothing but praise for all the staff for the compassionate care he received and would recommend this nursing home without hesitation.

My mother has resided at Westerleigh for a year now and I have nothing but praise for the staff working there. She was admitted following a sudden deterioration in her condition and although we were at the beginning of the pandemic, the staff ensured a smooth transition from acute hospital into their care. Communication has always been excellent and their ability to adapt to how we continued to “see” Mum through this time, via a portal facility, has allowed us to keep in touch. Whenever I see Mum, she looks well cared for and she speaks highly of all the staff. As a nurse myself, I can recognise great care when I see it and feel very relieved to know that my mum is cared for so well.
Emma, thank you for your lovely review of Westerleigh. All of us on the staff team at Westerleigh really appreciate you taking the time and trouble to write this review, and it is so encouraging for us to know that our care of your Mother is supporting both her and you well. Innovations, like the portal contact, are great for keeping in touch, and once again, thank you for your review.
