My friend spent nearly 2 years in this home. The staff were always pleasant, available and approachable. When asked about her care my fiend always said she was well looked after and that the food was very good. However, her room was hardly big enough for someone needing full nursing care. It was very
cramped. Would have been difficult to accommodate a hoist. The washroom was tatty. There was no shower. The net curtains were hanging up, torn.
Reply from Sofia Costa, manager at Adelaide Nursing HomeThank you for your feedback and for your comments about our staff and the care your friend received. We're pleased to hear she felt well looked after and enjoyed the food during her time with us.
Due to her medical conditions, your friend was unable to use a shower and therefore received all personal care in bed, in line with her care plan and assessed needs. We have two rooms within the home that include a shower and a communal shower room for all other residents in each floor. We do our best to allocate these rooms based on residents' individual needs and abilities at the time of admission.
We appreciate you sharing your observations, as feedback is always valuable to us and helps with future improvements.

The nursing home was so welcoming in such a difficult time. They looked after my dad so well, always with a smile and care. They reassured me the whole way that my dad was engaging well with them, eating, drinking, and allowing care. I knew he was safe and well, even though he didn't fully understand
why her was there. They put on daily activities, had dogs and kittens visit. Always tea and coffee available. We can't thank them enough.
Reply from Sofia Costa, Manager at Adelaide Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're so pleased we could support you and your family during that time.

From the moment I arrived to view this home for my late Dad, I knew it was right for him. The residents in the lounge were all friendly, engaging and seemed content and happy. This is really the best indication of a good care home.

All the staff that I engaged with were nothing but helpful, understanding

and patient. Dad said on one occasion that he care couldn't be any better and that he had 'No complaints whatsoever'. Even though he could be difficult at times, which is understandable given the situation, the staff remained 100% professional and caring.

It was a long haul to get Dad transferred from Lytham St Anne's to Hove, a task that took a disproportionate amount of energy from myself and my Dad. When he did eventually arrive after an 11 hour ambulance transfer he was utterly exhausted and I didn't think he'd survive. But with the excellent care he received and with the love and support of myself and my sister, he rallied and his stay at Adelaide was perfect for us all.

Reply from Sofia Costa, Manager at Adelaide Nursing HomeThank you for your trust and for sharing your experience. Our very best wishes remain with you and your family.

We were very lucky that Mum was placed at the Adelaide back in 2021, the care for her progressive condition has been excellent and she was very comfortable there until she recently passed away. Staff have seemingly boundless energy and compassion, and go beyond the call of duty to provide enjoyable
experiences for the residents, as well as ensuring that dignity and comfort are maintained at all times.

My father was admitted to the Adelaide with a stage 4 brain tumour. His love from our home to the care home was perfectly managed; with care, consideration for his feelings and the least amount of stress. The Adelaide may not be as shiny and new as purpose-built homes, but we couldn't have asked for
a better team or level of care for my dad. He was made to feel instantly at ease by the staff and it was like a home from home for him. The team listened to him, were patient & flexible with him and adapted to meet his complex needs. We would highly recommend the Adelaide, they made my dads last few months as comfortable as could be so that we could spend valuable time together as a family.
Reply from Sofia Costa, manager at Adelaide Nursing HomeThank you so much for your feedback. It means a lot to our entire team to know that the care and support we provide made a difference. We are keen on promoting a welcoming environment for all our residents and they feel cared for, listened and respected. Kind regards,Adelaide Nursing Home

I have power of attorney for my friend who has dementia, we have moved him from another nursing home as we weren't happy with the way he has been looked after. He has only been in Adelaide since Jan 15th, his weight has increased and he looks so much happier. The staff here are amazing he is always
up and dressed looking clean and sitting in the lounge. Whereas in another home he was in bed all the time. He was losing weight every week! When you enter Adelaide it feels so homely and relaxed and all the staff we have met are very caring when there is a problem they phone us and it's nice when you arrive to be asked if would you like a drink. Fantastic home for your loved ones to care for happy friends.

My mother was admitted for end-of-life care four months ago. Her needs became more acute towards the end but she was always treated with professional and sympathetic care. Her basic requirements of cleanliness and nutrition were met thoroughly. The staff were attentive, friendly and understanding with
exceptional care from the senior nurses and manager which extended to their support with the family.

My dad's last few weeks were spent in this nursing home and he was very well looked after and cared for. The staff were friendly and kind and treated him with dignity at all times. We were always made to feel welcome and it was a clean and homely environment. He had a bright room with enough space to
store his items. He was well-fed and frequently offered tea and biscuits throughout the day. He didn't get involved in the activities but there were lots on offer if he had wanted to. We are very grateful to the staff for making the last few weeks easier for us and they have continued to be helpful after. Thank you, we would highly recommend this nursing home.

I could not have picked a more caring and compassionate home for my Mum. Every member of staff had a smile on their face and spoke to me every time I visited. Mum's care was of the highest quality and she was treated with dignity at all times. The home was clean, bright and airy and there were always
activities on offer for Mum to take part in.

Adelaide is a fantastic care home. My mum and I couldn't have hoped for a better environment for her to spend her last few weeks in. The lovely staff provide a warm and relaxed atmosphere while being highly attentive and attuned to residents' needs. We were both kept informed about her medical condition
at all times and any changes clearly communicated to us. It has a human and homely feel and is not cold or clinical despite the level of nursing care it provides. Mum had a vegan diet and they made every effort to cater for her, she was very happy with the thoughtful way they approached meals for her. Mum really appreciated the opportunity to listen to live music, do sitting exercise classes, arts and crafts, have local children visit, and group lunches and tea parties that me and my daughter were also invited to. Most of all she loved how the staff always made time to talk to her and how happy they were to chat, it was this that really made a huge difference to her quality of life.

We can't fault the care our mother received. She was treated with respect and love by everyone who came in contact with her. The one-to-one care, encouraging Mum to eat and spending time with her was exceptional. The care involved with Mum's diet, i.e. making custard with cream to help Mum put on weight.
Personal hygiene, Mum was regularly changed and kept clean and comfortable. The encouragement she received to be involved with the activities when able. It was all the little things which added up to make Mum's stay a happy one. Thank you.

Adelaide is a very well-run care home. Residents are treated with dignity and respect and all the staff whom we have got to know over the last two years are warm, friendly and welcoming. Residents who are able can enjoy activities or opt out if they so wish. Cleanliness is good as is the food. Overall
the family are happy with the care being provided at Adelaide.

My wife was in your care for only five weeks before she passed away. In the short time, I felt she was treated very well by cheerful, competent and caring staff. Similarly this experience by myself and sons, also her sister who were regular visitors was excellent. Your staff were welcoming, cheerful
and sympathetic and they were giving freely of their time and happy to give comfort to both family and visitors. Well done to all, from cooks, domestic carers, nursing and the management team.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.689)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.689) out of 10 for Adelaide Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.764 for Adelaide Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (158 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 199 Ratings = 4.764
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Adelaide Nursing Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
