The care that my grandad received in the last weeks of his life was brilliant. Each staff member was polite, kind and caring from nurses, cleaners and assistants. The small things mattered, like offering the family tea and arranging washes in-between visits. Thank you all so much for your hard work, making a hard time a little easier.

My stepdad spent a few weeks at the Adelaide Nursing Home. When he was admitted, we were aware he was terminally ill and sadly his decline was very rapid. While he was at the home, the staff treated him with the utmost care, respect and dignity and for that we will be forever grateful. My stepdad felt safe at all times and nothing was ever too much trouble. We as a family, were made to feel welcome and any concerns we had were always discussed and we were reassured. We could visit at any time and in his last few days we were allowed to stay overnight and all the staff were so compassionate and made sure we were looked after and cared for too. After his death, we were given time and they allowed us to come back to clear the room when we felt ready. I can not recommend the home enough. From the nursing team to the cleaners to the chefs, they are all amazing!

My father was in Adelaide Nursing Home for only two weeks. In that time we were made to feel welcome and my father was shown nothing but care and compassion. All the staff always greeted us with a smile when we came in and we were regularly updated on his health pr questions answered if we had any. They regularly had activities for the residents of they wanted to join in. The atmosphere was welcoming and calm.

Simply a very big thank you to all the wonderful staff at Adelaide for the compassionate, loving care they provided my mother-in-law within the last few years of her life. They treated her with dignity and kindness throughout, as if she was one of their own family members. In turn, they were always very warm and friendly towards us.

Overall, my mother was treated with care and kindness, although she was only here for a week before she died. She was made very welcome.
All staff treated her and our family with respect, for which we are truly grateful.

My only criticism, which I shared with them, was that they gathered her personal effects into a black bin bag, and we were handed them only a couple of hours after her death, which was so sad!

Reply from Colleen Hutton, Manager at Adelaide Nursing Home

We offer our sincerest apologies at the time as we agree that it was remiss of us to have done that. We always speak to families and wait for instructions. On reviewing the day, there was a miscommunication, and recognise our error, and we will endeavour to not allow this situation to arise again at such a sad time.

This is one of the best nursing homes in Hove, purely because the staff and management are so good. They are always welcoming and friendly and build proper, caring relationships with the residents and their families.

I was a weekly visitor over a long period and was most impressed with the exceptional care extended by the staff to all the residents. It was loving concern in all their dealings and their patience was exemplary. The courtesy shown to me, as a visitor, was very pleasing. To me, the home was well run and I do not have a single complaint.

My husband suffered from metastatic prostate cancer. He received palliative care at Adelaide Nursing Home from 10/1/19 to 21/3/19 when he died. We were able to use his room as home. His sons and family came to watch football on TV with him. Visiting was unrestricted. Good diet, much choice, well cooked and presented. Medical and nursing care excellent, giving him confidence, making his last days relaxed, affectionate, with humour.

Care staff well trained made supportive relationships. Privacy respected. Care of my dying husband done with dignity, respect, efficiency. Care of me and my family, wonderful. Children and dogs welcome. Positive atmosphere between staff members.

Our mum moved into Adelaide 17 months ago having been unable to cope with the support of carers coming into her home. We looked at 6 homes around Brighton and Hove and read all the CQC reports, before deciding upon Adelaide. It had come highly recommended by two friends of ours whose mums were resident at the time. Throughout her time at Adelaide we were always impressed with the care, compassion and genuine interest in all the residents. The continuity and levels of both nursing and care staff throughout the time was very good, which clearly is such an important part of quality care. The lounge was always a warm, welcoming place for both the residents and visitors alike, and there was never a time that we didn't feel welcome and part of the family. They took great care of our mum and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Adelaide for quality of care, look beyond the slightly jaded premises/facilities and you will find a warm, genuine and compassionate team of people.

This nursing home was highly recommended to us at a time when we desperately needed to get my 92 year old father into care. From the moment we approached the home and spoke to the manager we felt in very safe hands. It was such a relief to us to have my father, who was very ill, cared for in such a professional and loving way. It was wonderful for my children to visit him and see that he was happy and well looked after. Now that he has died, myself and my family can look back on his last days as being comfortable and happy. The nursing staff were so kind to him and to me and myself and my family will be eternally grateful.

I cannot recommend the Adelaide Nursing Home highly enough! The standard of care, compassion and empathy from all the staff/nurses was amazing. Also a huge shout out to the kitchen staff who tend to get overlooked. Everyone involved made my mothers stay there a lovely, peaceful time. Also, the team who arrange events/garden party/trips fantastic.

For the last 3 weeks of his life, my relative was cared for at the Adelaide. He was treated with respect, dignity, care and compassion. I am so grateful to the staff for enriching those last few weeks. His room was large and pleasant, and we could visit at any time, actually spending the last night with him, which was very important to us. I am so glad he spent those last few weeks at the Adelaide, and I would certainly recommend it to other people in our situation. I consider we were very, very lucky to find it.

We really can't thank the staff at the Adelaide Nursing Home enough for everything they did for us. My father was only with them a short time, but during those weeks they were incredibly welcoming, warm, accommodating and attentive to his and our needs.

They did everything they could to make my father comfortable, and to help us spend as much quality time with him as possible. We feel so lucky that he had such good care over such a sad and difficult time - it made the whole process so much easier.

After going through such an emotional process with the carers and nurses there, we feel very close to them and look forward to visiting again soon.

I would highly recommend Adelaide Nursing Home to anyone. The staff are outstanding and my mother was very happy there. At the time of her residing there, her life expectancy was limited and I am comforted by the fact she was very well cared for. It is very much a home from home for residents. I will always have fond memories of her time there and the friends she made.
